HA, I read those books in my late 20's and I could never understand why they were so popular. As a "30 Something" I do enjoy a good "young adult" series now and then, if it's written well. For example, I really enjoyed the Harry Potter series because it gets uber dark, and I love love loved the Hunger Games series and to this day will argue that they aren't for kids. But Twilight - there was just no meat and all the characters were so weak...and sparkles? Um yeah no...

Agreed about hunger games and Harry Potter. And yes Twlight had nothing going for it.

So much Solas hate. I have to ask. To all those hating him and punching him and calling him racist, have you finished the game yet?

Not finished, but know ALL the spoilers. Love his character, very well written, just dislike him. Similar to how I dislike, I dunno, Gaston (bad example), but I appreciate his character. But even then, it's a dislike. And I'm excited to romance him.

But yeah, there's no way Elidri would get along with him so since there's no real way to kick him out as early as she's have liked, (immediately), punching him was just awesome. And even better was the argument in elven. That's all.
  

I got Solas' approval through the roof really easily on my human playthrough, the decisions he didnt like were easily outweighed by his quest approval etc. He approved of helping the Dalish clan, and kept telling my Inquisitor how subtle and surprising she was and how much respect he had for her.
So... I'd assumed it would be even easier for an actual Dalish to befriend him :/ great how different playthroughs can have such different challenges though I think Sera has a thing for Qunquisitors, if I'm correct?

He can be, but there's also a lot of areas you can fall down with him. And lots of places where you can just gain approval for nothing. I stopped doing his personal quest with him in the party when I realised it was increasing his approval of my Elidri.

And yeah, Sera thinks qunari ladies are well fit.

You know I was so sort of annoyed at Solas and Cullen not being available to qunari or dwarf quizzys because those where the races that I wanted to romance them with but after playing through the Solas romance I wouldn´t change a thing, the race gating allows for much more lore and race specific content to be included,but that´s just me Still wish Cullen wasn´t race gated though,imagine romancing him with a qunari mage

I think Cullen with a dwarfette could be adorable, but I don't mind the gating, either.

Andraste's ass I've got three hundred pages to get through!! Haven't dared look at anything until I finished my first run at least. The Cullen romance was everything I hoped it would be - nailed it Bioware! I'm a happy happy fangirl. Round two: that sexy Vint b*stard Dorian.

 

I don't get the Solas hate either. I think he's one of the most interesting characters in the game. But then I'm not mad keen on Sera so I'm sure that nullifies my opinions to many people heh.

I'm not entirely convinced Solas is a god. As he said, the gods could have just been powerful elves. What if Solas is just that? One of the immortal original elves that is very powerful.

His romance content is pretty race specific. Makes sense when you watch it. And I think it's still implied at least that they're all just very powerful mages.

True, I get where your coming from and I do think they could have made him elves only but bisexual. I´m surprised at the fact that I actually don´t want them to ungate Solas because I usually go for the whole "odd couple" thing,also I was hoping to romance him with my qunari but alas,that was not meant to be Wish Cullen had been the "main" LI so that he wouldn´t have been gated,but hey at least they added him right? Not sure what I would have done if neither him or Solas were available Btw, am I the only one who thinks Samson sounds very similiar to Fenris?  I mean I know Gideon Emery has a very distinctive voice but I don´t recall them sounding that similar in DA2

Nuh-uh, I thought the same thing. He was much better directed in DA2. He slipped into his 'normal' voice (the voice he uses for Fenris) far, far too often.

 

It made Fenris not being there (and the crappy excuse the writers concocted for romanced Fenris) hurt even more.

"Gods" are nothing more than ancient, powerful spirits. Mythal is presented as a spirit that possessed Flemeth's mortal body. I think Solas did the same, except that he possessed an ancient elf's mortal form. And then he went into uthernera.

Not really; they kind of just hooked up with whomever; plus they aren't real people and never were, so the comparison doesn't really work.

 

In a fantasy story, if you're going to create gods, I mean, you could give them sexuality but to me there'd have to be a reason why. Sexuality is a biological thing; it comes about through evolution and mutation and such. So why would an all-powerful being have developed such a thing? You would have to write that into the lore somehow.

 

Like spirits in DA lore, do they have sexuality? They don't have gender (I think) so I would imagine they also would not have sexuality.

Haha pretty much, sucks to be in that situation,I was there with Mass Effect before they added Garrus Oh thank god,I was worried there was something wrong with my ears! Yeah that excuse was pretty bad, I was hoping for something about Hawke telling him to take care of Carver (because he´s a warden in my canon) or something And I was hoping for a cameo for the DA2 LIs, this would have been a great opportunity since Hawke is actually in the game but yeah  Imagine Fenris in the frostbite 3 engine though

I, too, am leaning towards the "the Creators are great spirits" theory. I don't know about Solas/Fen'Harel possessing an actual body though, although I think that's cool speculation. Flemeth has possessed multiple bodies in all three games but generally looks the same. I think she is simply capable of "manifesting" her body at will. Possibly the same with Solas/Fen.

I hope for that too, I wouldn't had to change my characters around so much if Cullen liked qunaris. And it would have been so cute.

My last ditch guess is that some of the VAs did not agree (due to time or whatever other reasons) to read for the game. So although they were able to get Gideon Emery, they were not able to get one or all of the other four, and that would not have been fair to the players who romanced those guys.

I would be fine with this though of course I prefer bi Cullen I never understand why some prefer gated companions; I mean I doubt Cullen's straightness added awesome aspects to his personal story  Though Dorian's sexuality does of course add something to his story.

Solas... is so cool  He reminds me of Loki from the Thor movies. And no I don't find that guy attractive, nor Solas. Proof I can be into a romance without being attracted to the guy
