I still think that he's not going to be a companion, that would just be too many warrior in the party, since the Grey Warden, Iron Bull, and Cassandra have already been confirmed as companions basically.  Unless they pull a 180 about Iron Bull and make him just an advisor, but honestly that would just be annoying since a Tal-Vasoth > another human warrior.

 

IMO he's probably just gonna be like Cortez or Samantha from ME 3.  Maybe it'll be better than those two, but Cullen won't be an actual companion.

I'm pretty much convinced he isn't one at the moment,unless he's an exclusive companion of which I'm not so sure...But it's only my opinion,there's always room for optimism!

LadyInsanity clarified that Iron Bull is a two-hander, as in, two-handed sword. And she said he was a companion.

 

Grey Warden however.. he's popped up in that demo, but he hasn't been officially confirmed. So I'd say it's still up for debate.

That's what I'm hoping, and like I said I don't think they would even bother mentioning Cullen as a romance option if it wasn't something with depth. I guess I'll just feel a lot better once I know 100% what his role will be, follower, faction leader, etc

 

I'm just amazed they announced him so soon, I thought they'd leave it until closer to the games release due to the amount of hype surrounding him... or maybe we were just driving them all crazy with the speculating and the constant questions?

I get confused when people say that the Grey Warden and IB are "already confirmed" We've seen Cullen in just about the same amount of concept art as GW, and we've certainly been told more about Cullen's inclusion in the game than either of them. 

Well, we have seen them more, tho. GW was seen in gameplay in the GameInformer videos. And IB was described as a companion, and presumably also seen in gameplay?, in the recent "journalist" coverage. But I wouldn't say they're confirmed as companions either. 

 

edit: But I see LadyInsanity DID confirm IB is a companion. Well, there you go then!

Okay, so, Cullen as NPC way more likely to me now. (Which is fine, because I wouldn't mind an NPC romance.) The only way I currently see Cullen as a companion is if he changed classes, which wouldn't be the strangest thing to happen, I guess.

I honestly think it would be really, really weird that out of all the names he could have announced for LI, he'd pick Cassandra, a companion, and then a non-companion. I think I'm going to hold on to optimism here and say he's probably a companion as well. 

 

It's also possible there was a slip and 'two-handed' was meant duel wielder. I only suggest that because I've made that slip before more than once, myself.

Are there any hints that the GW guy could be a rogue? I know in the survey leak there's a concept art of a GW w/ a sword and shield, but other than that I haven't seen him in any concept art w/ a weapon, and I can't remember the gameplay video he was briefly seen in.

I was thinking perhaps he's the next Follower Friday reveal, if he's a companion and this is just some nefarious well orchestrated plan of theirs. But if not, I'm open to the idea that Greg Ellis's tweets mighta made them want to hurry up and tell us.

Well, Grey Warden is still not confirmed. It's possible he could be a temp companion. Maybe not suuuuper likely, but the situation is really hard to understand right now. It's possible Grey Warden is the military advisor instead of Cullen and he can temp at some point. I wish the video hadn't cut out when they talked about Cullen so we could see if they say he's a companion, since we're getting mixed messages on that.

Not really. In the brief shot of him while he's in-party, he's a sword-and-board. They could have changed that since then, though.

He was using sword/shield in pre-alpha game play footage, so he's pretty much definitely a warrior. He's not actually confirmed as a main companion yet, though.

I think one of the companions will probably be a "Zevran" choice, you will have the option to recruit or kill them. I wouldn't be surprised if IB would be the one.

The only thing that makes me question this, is that the majority of fans would have no idea Greg Ellis revealed that kind of thing. Not everyone follows Mr. Ellis, and, even then, the BSN/Bioware forums take up a pretty small portion of fans.

Ughhhh....my brain hurts  I need coffee for this. Sh*t, even when we get good (f*cking great really) news, we still have that nagging doubt floating over our heads. I'm seriously considering going into hibernation until Fall...just stick a bunch of fans by me in the summer so I don't melt

I'd be surprised if DHMG was a mage. I enjoyed that new fan art, and all the mage speculation about him. But alot of people haven't noticed the sword on his back. If the image is enlarged, it no longer looks like it's just that trident thing he's carrying, instead, appears to be a dual-wielder. So I'm open to the idea of him being a rogue or something if he's still in.

Oooo.... maybe they'll do that with Cullen since he seems to be so polarizing for some. Love him or hate him, everyone wins if you immediately have the murder knife option.
