I would say we have no idea. Sure, he was acting Knight Commander for the span of at least, what, 10 minutes while you killed Meredith (prob longer on Nightmare
). After Hawke split Kirkwall/became Viscount/ess...? Who knows how long that lasted.
Going by the math of DA2 (and that makes my head spin almost as much as how Anders can be in 2 places at the same time), it was 3 years between the events of the Act 3 finale and Cassandra's interrogation of Varric. Somewhere in that space of time, Hawke disappeared. After the battle with Meredith, if Hawke becomes the Viscount, we see Cullen kneeling. If, however, Hawke sided with the mages, Cullen looks at Hawke with trepidation and allows the party to leave. In this last scenario, it seems as though Hawke and company leave post haste, which would leave Cullen with quite the mess on his hands. And Cullen does relieve Meredith of command, which would make him Knight Commander pro-tem and he would remain so until some sort of word arrives from the Divine. Since we won't be travelling to the Free Marches (which blow my theory on how we meet Cullen all to hell), something after Cassandra's interrogation must have happened and Cullen left Kirkwall.

And pastry? Really? Granted I've never seen one, but a pastry? Aren't they really crumbly? I thought twinkies were meant to be indestructible.

I love twinkies, actually, and all kinds of Hostess or Little Debbie cakes. Of course I don't eat them as an adult, but as a kid I devoured them. Sigh, goodbye childhood metabolism.

ok guys so I finally finished ME2 the ending was so epic made me feel like a BAD ARSE SHEPARD RULLZ sorry for going off topic but I feel good about myself now also quick question is it ok if I didn't gave the robot collector thing to the ilusive man? I destroyed it is that gonna bite me in the arse in ME3? Also in ME3 does Shepard REALLY HAVE TO DIE? is there a way to keep shepard alive???
Didn't DG say that there are Elven and Dwarven Templars? It's just that we've never seen them because... well, it's easier to duplicate everyone.
The templar specialization is learn-able by any race... so yeah.... I guess so. I'm hoping they fill a lot of those little gaps in Inquisition.

Essentially, yea shephard pretty much dies, unless you count a split second of breath life...although it doesn't really matter since I doubt the next mass effect game will have anything to do with shephard.
Although if you want a good ending and have good imagination, play through the ending, *le shepard dies*, pretend shepard didn't die, go play the citadel DLC and imagine it to be the "celebratory after party", worked for me
