Lol I am trying to do the same thing as you, I have a guy romancing Cass right now*again* and I got that gender switch bug...I was like "COME ON! I made a character of another gender and this fool is still going for my IQs!" These are bad times...bad times, lol!
Lol, with that gender bug he is like the ultimate ninja-mance, the sly cub.
So, does anyone know if Cullen makes the first move instead if you don't go to him yourself and tell him you're definitely interested (to trigger the first kiss). I remember in DA:O if you didn't approach Alistair with your feelings for him first he'd eventually approach you instead, just wondered if that happens in DAI with Cullen, or any of the LIs?

Without the approval system for Cullen I feel like there might not be any checks in place to gauge Cullen's affections for you if you don't make it clear to him. Alistair approached me in Origins after his approval of me became high enough through my gifts and actions. It is a bit of a pity, it would certainly have been nice if Cullen could muster up the courage to approach me like that. :c

Ah yeah, I'd forgotten about the lack of approval system. I was hoping maybe there was something in place within the romance that would maybe lead him/Josie to make the first move if you don't do so first.
What about the other companions, do they approach you if you don't?

Yeah, that would have been nice. I'm not sure about the others, I know some of them will come to you if you've flirted with them a certain amount but either way that would mean you'd have had to make the first move romantically. Maybe someone who's romanced more of the LIs has a more definitive answer \o/

Good Question. I think there were some people who were uncomfortable with Anders hitting on you in 2. It would be nice if they did take initiative if it were according to their personalities. I mean, I can definitely see Iron bull making the first move, for example. There's no way you can actually see a companion's affection level in this game, is there?
Cullen has totally ruined this game for me. I try to rush through as much as I can as quickly as I can so I can move the romance forward. I love the interactions and his story.
What a sweetie!
As soon as I can get through the game I will play again... more slowly . I was going to play as a male mage and romance Cass for my second playthrough, but think I may have to go for Cullen again.

Yeah, maybe they wanted to avoid the fall out again? Still, if you're actively and knowingly flirting with a character then it would stand to reason that you'd want them to flirt back/approach you for more, even if you plan to turn them down, lol.

Yeah that would have been interesting, but without the approval system, you can basically say whatever you want to your advisers without being judged in return, lol. That's a plus XD
And I thought the flirt lines weren't too flirty, but rather genuine when I played the game. So I wasn't really like cringing when I picked the flirt option.

All romances are triggered by the flirt options, not approval alone.

Well, Bull's romance scene, the first one, fires up right after the Chargers thing. I literally just clicked on his character and the scene started automatically. This is of course if you have taken flirt lines with him previously.

I know that, I just wondered if not approaching him to tell him that you have strong feelings for him would result in him/them approaching you instead.
Cute lil vid of all the 'ambient' style dialogue cullen has with his messengers. I managed to miss nearly all of these in my playthroughs, guess im too busy leaping around

Ah sorry. Some LIs like Cass approach the PC instead of the other way around.

I got hardly any of those! Interesting that he was asking after Caroll from DA:O, wasn't he originally supposed to be sided with Samson from what I saw in the letters during some of those early previews? Perhaps he was friends with him during his days in Kinloch Hold and was trying to check if he was safe? Never found them in-game myself though.
Seems he took a liking to one of Leliana's birds, lol... that's actually incredibly sweet, the way his voice softens when he finds out that she's let him keep it, bless him, I'm gonna head canon that he's been using it to send cute messages backwards and forwards to the Inquisitor whilst she's out in the field. I like Cole's little messages to him, "they didn't hang you there, you can walk away"... I wonder what that means? Sounds like it would be more suited to Blackwall, if anything. I like the one about the center never changing, that's very appropriate considering all that he's been through.
