About Caroll
Spoiler
No way! That must have been another one that glitched during my first playthrough. Does Cullen have anything to say about that after you cut him down?

WHAT!?!?!?!?!!?! I never got that either! ![]()

He didn't say anything to me after I did it. ... but then I completed the quest after I finished the main story line so I don't know.... Anyone else got something?
I did the quest but don't recall him ever saying anything about it.
These are just precious!Kind of make my wish I had some shortbread biscuits to munch on.
Millionaires are THE BEST!

I don't think he says anything after the fight, but in the mission report he says to make it quick because he once knew him or something like that.

The war table did provide easy opportunity for like 20+ cameos. It was a cameopaluza!
I got hardly any of those! Interesting that he was asking after Caroll from DA:O, wasn't he originally supposed to be sided with Samson from what I saw in the letters during some of those early previews? Perhaps he was friends with him during his days in Kinloch Hold and was trying to check if he was safe? Never found them in-game myself though.
Seems he took a liking to one of Leliana's birds, lol... that's actually incredibly sweet, the way his voice softens when he finds out that she's let him keep it, bless him, I'm gonna head canon that he's been using it to send cute messages backwards and forwards to the Inquisitor whilst she's out in the field. I like Cole's little messages to him, "they didn't hang you there, you can walk away"... I wonder what that means? Sounds like it would be more suited to Blackwall, if anything. I like the one about the center never changing, that's very appropriate considering all that he's been through.
I LOVE that bit with the bird, especially when you read some of the letters lying around Leliana's spot in Skyhold. It seems like some people have a hard time dealing with her birds and I think one guy in particular sounds very indignant when he mentions how Leliana gets along so naturally with them since they try to peck his face off. It's very telling how Cullen managed to get one to trust him. Crows are incredibly smart, one of the smartest birds according to biologists, so I like to pretend it can sense Cullen's kind nature the way Cole can ![]()

That's sad, I guess they must have been friendly when they were stationed together. I wish this sort of thing had played out in dialogue/cutscenes instead of war table quests and rarely triggered ambient dialogue.

See, now I want the crow she gifted him to be in a cage in his tower! I wonder what he was "borrowing" it for? Maybe he just took a liking to that particular one so he'd take it out for a fly or something? LOL! Cute that it was always that one specific bird that he used every time. Maybe we should ask his writer what he was doing with it?

I only heard like two of those and not the best ones either. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah, Caroll was definitely with Sampson. Edit - see spoiler from alwayshungry -
For the record, Cole is my favourite new party member. I could listen to his cryptic insights forever.
Re: "They didn't hang you there ..." I think he just means he survived the ordeal at The Gallows in Kirkwall?
Josie finally has some pics in her gallery!

Yeah, Caroll was definitely with Sampson. I sided with the mages, but I distinctly remember killing "hulked out" Caroll in the Emerald Graves. At lion thingy ...

Yeah, I'm guessing it's in reference to DA2 in some obscure way...
Does Carroll say much of anything when you go and kill him? Or is it literally just find him and kill him with no talking or anything? Is he covered in red lyrium or anything?
You can see him in the link I posted above. It was a shame... nothin at all storywise. Just a monster.Yeah, I'm guessing it's in reference to DA2 in some obscure way...

Oh, gosh. Poor Cullen... poor Carroll! He literally turned into a mutant!! ... What's scary is that could've easily been Cullen. Urgh, I don't even wanna think about it.
Wow...I didnt get that quest either...Is that Carol? That's just sad.You can see Cullen's letter here: http://eternalshiva....st/104782488219

You find him, you kill a few of his templars and then you kill him. That's it.

Any letters from him nearby or anything?

Yeah, sounds like a reference to the Gallows. Probably some lingering guilt over leaving the Templars?

I don't think so. You can find other letters from him though all over the Emerald Graves.
