This one is a bit obscure, but Carroll was the Templar in DA:O that tries to stop the Warden from crossing the lake to get to the Circle Tower, he's guarding it because the demons are running riot thanks to Uldred. You talk to Carroll and persuade him (through various options) to get him to take you across the lake. Through codex entries and stuff you learn that Carroll is highly addicted to Lyrium and that it's affecting his mind, even though he doesn't seem all that old.
Spoiler
To jog your memory, this is Carroll:
When I saw this...it made me really sad. Bad way for the Queen of Antiva to go
On a serious note...it brings home the problem with using Lyrium and what it does to templars.

Nawww, things still tough in Greece at the moment? I admit, I haven't really kept up with world news in a while.

quick question am I ok to flirt with dorien, it just seems a really fun thing to do but I don't want to upset Cullen!
Yup! Flirting with Dorian won't cause any problems. You can actually flirt with anyone you want to, Cullen won't get upset with you for flirting around. He knows it's all in good fun and he's your number one boo. ![]()

I liked the Emerald Graves - so verdant
Funny thing about Emprise du Lion is that after playing a lot of Skyrim, the last thing I want to see is snow. Well... living in Canada also means that the last thing I want to see on my computer screen is snow
I have the opposite problem. My daughter has seen snow (just enough to tell it was snow and not sleet) twice in the last 20 years since we moved south. Ice, we get (half a dozen times last year, and we live in an apartment with outside stairs). I've been walking around outside in shirt sleeves most of the week. But before you get jealous, talk to me in early August when the temps have been at 95-104 during the day for 2-3 months and it doesn't drop below 75 most nights. The heat doesn't always break before early October (this year our first freezing night was in November).
I spent a week in Victoria, BC last June and thought I'd gone to heaven.

Well...So you must be in North Korea then!
As for my favourite areas, other than North Korea, I loved every desert area, (even though I hate the z axis in the shard temple area), and I think it was the Emerald Graves? I hated the Exalted Plains though. It's so grey. And so hard to find the way to Vivienne's quest area!

You get an operation to find him in the Emerald Graves and then you have to fight him.

Okay so...I've been seeing a lot of Dragon Age confessions about Cullen's romance being "poisonous" and I'm seriously confused...I see Cullen as a complete gentleman (well...that first kiss was a bit saucy lol) when you're romancing him. Can anyone clarify on why the internet is pissed this time? (I know, it's a tall order.)

people always seem to be angry at Cullen they won't even give his character a chance they just like bashing him. I wouldn't give it too much attention if I were you. Just play the game and see for yourself how he is.

the only thing I can think of is asking Cullen about Templar chastity vows in one of the flirt option, which is....awkward.
other than that, ......no? maybe wrt lyrium?

I just had an encounter on Cullen's office with his dwarf messenger about Sera's prank. He was yeling along this lines "I know Sera's been in this room, I swear!!" then the dwarf agent just awkwardly responded to him lol
I only had Josie storming in, looking flustered
But, yes, Cullen would be one to get ticked at an unbalanced desk ![]()

Ha, try living in the Northeast US! In the winter we have constant temps around 10 - 20 degrees F and snow snow snow! Storms that drop 2+ feet at once are common. Then, in the summer it's super humid with temps above 90 all the time. It feels like you're wearing a wet wool sweater outside, so we have to live in air conditioning. Last year I got heat stroke at a renaissance fair because the air was so heavy. ![]()
Spring and Fall however? Absolutely beautiful...makes me really love living in New England.

I am unable to understand how anybody can bash Cullen...
To me, his romance seems very healthy considering the other options for a straight female quizzie. The next healthiest? IB...at least in my opinion. I don't even think a mage quizzie romancing him would be considered "toxic." He's been through a lot over the past 13ish years and he's had to get over a lot. Looking at what he's been through at the hands of mages, could we blame him? Back in DA:2 I think folks could say a mage romancing him would "toxic," but DA:I? Nah I think he's moved enough past his ordeals to be able to accept a mage just fine.

Well, if you want to cool down in the summer, and want to avoid the BC rain, I'm just on the other side of the mountains
We're a stone's throw from Banff, and a two-hour drive from Bioware headquarters - just in case you'd be up to hanging around their offices for an autograph, or something
Funny thing about Alberta is that the weather can be unpredictable. We don't get a lot of rain, and have lots of sunshine, but snow... we can get snow anytime.
Labour Day weekend, we went rafting on the river. It was a beautiful day, sunshine, 32 C (90 F), I even got a little sunburned. Next day - snow. The leaves hadn't fallen yet, so the snow weighed heavily, and a lot of branches snapped. Power cords broke all through the city because of collapsed branches... Oh, and it did snow a bit in July as well. So, yeah
