I got Cassandra on my first playthrough and everyone who was present made funny comments on her being divine, but some characters simply weren't there, which was a glitch. No Cullen to talk to . Perhaps Vivienne not being there was a glitch for you? FYI, I was able to reload to my celebration save and everyone seemed to be there after the party that time .

Or maybe it's determined by approval whether or not she's there? She LOVES my Inquisitor.

She's only like that if she's hardened, if you un-harden her she handles things diplomatically like Justinia did.

and it sounds like she's the ninja divine if you don't pick clearly between the other two? To my mind, having a mage as Divine and allowing only the most ambitious mages increased freedom sounds like a step toward Tevinter (ymmv of course.) I like Cass over Leliana most of the time because I think moderate reform has the best chance of succeeding. Lel might be pushing so far, so fast that extremists might seize control and mages and elves end up worse off than before. Besides, I rather like the idea of Cass as Divine, cutting through the bulls**t.

I was pretty middle of the road with my decisions, conscripting mages, saving Celene, and at the end I could only support Leli or Viv. I didn't actively support any of them but discouraged Leliana and got Viv at the end. Seems that Vivienne is considered a compromise, I.e. moderate (pro-circle) progress (mage), even though I like Cass' moderate approach more. She'd be my go to candidate in all pts. Alas not in my first one.

Nope. After the credits. She was still there for me.

Hmm... if you don't talk to her and start traveling around, she's x'd out. I just went back to Skyhold, and she is there now. Hmm. So, there you go! And I can choose for her to stay. So thanks!

I had everyone (and all my awesome furniture) disappear once post-game, too. reloading my save fixed it, too.

I started freaking out when Leliana began going on about killing people in my first playthrough. She ended up as Divine, too, so that was a bit scary. I made some different choices this time around, though, so she's not scary anymore. Phew! Gonna go with Nice!Leliana as Divine this time.

You should never not patch your game, as a general rule. There's always ciritical fixes in a patch, even if we don't see everything it does. This last one fixed a lot of performance issues and adressed a bunch of little broken coding things, and the hotfix did away with the shiny hair bug, so there's no reason not to patch.

And... I think in a conversation with her at some point, I also told her that her people/scouts/spies matter and aren't disposable, but I'm not sure if that mattered. At the cloister, I also told her not to kill the Sister. I'm not sure if there's anything else that comes into play here.

I've learned to toggle off the derpy Skyhold pajama outfit and can now kiss Cullen properly-dressed. Wish I could've learned  this earlier!

Thanks for this - seems like too much work for me. I remember when I had to do something similar to use special hairs and armor textures (not just the simple mod that uses the save editor) for Shepard in ME:3. It was such a pain to do I stopped bothering, lol. 

 

Bioware has confirmed that they are working on "no PJ's." Hopefully they'll do something about it soon.

I don't ever want Leliana as Divine in my games, because she completely does away with the Circle system and forces the world to simply deal with fully liberated mages on a whim, and this universe has shown me nothing to convince me that mages going completely unchecked will not end in all of Thedas becoming a bloody magocracy like Tevinter. The mages need at least formal education in their talents, and some form of self-policing. Leliana's free-for-all world is a recipe for disaster.

 

I don't really want Vivienne as Divine either, though I don't revile her ending as much as Leliana's, because Vivi gives the mages more freedom, but doesn't adress the issues with Templars and Seekers, which is the stuff I particularly care about. My endgoal is clearing up the ranks of Templars and Seekers of corruption and reforming the Order back into what it was originally built to be - to protect innocent citizens from malicious mages, innocent mages from angry mobs, and to help the not so powerful mages from hurting themselves and others.

 

So Cassandra is my ideal Divine because she mantains the structure of the Circles as formal places of education, gives mages more freedom and rights allowing them to teach and police themselves, but also invests in reforming the Templars and Seekers so they can again work with the mages, not against them. Both sides come out better, without sacrificing either mages, Templars or civilians in an unstable scenario, tense and ripe for revolt again, as Leliana's and Vivienne's endings imply. Mages and Templars working together for peace is the perfect endgame for me.

Interesting, personally I'm of the opposite opinion because if anything the games/books have not shown me anything that proves free mages = chaos/magocracy, If anything Viv's divine ending screams magocracy to me because what she's doing sounds a lot like what happened in tevinter. Dorian says that they had circles just like the south at one point but over time they were essentially made pointless because mages started getting more political power from within. 

Not mention I personally find the circles completely flawed, the impression I've always gotten from the games/books is the circles/chantry promote an atmosphere of fear and self loathing for mages. It's all based on maybes, you may become an abimination, you may become a blood mage etc. You're taught from a young age that your magic is a curse, that you will never be accepted amongst the outside world. Not to mention if you show any kind of disobidience the punishment you have would receieve is either tranquility or death. With that kind of mentality is it really a surprise as to why some mages become abominations or wanted to revolt? Then there's the whole issue of templars which is one this thread has probably discussed at length.

Just look at dalish mages as an example of why the circle isn't needed, you don't see them turning into abominations left right and centre without circle teachings, granted some of them have made monumentally stupid decisions. I personally feel this is because the dalish have a different approach to teaching mages. They seem to teach mages to embrace their powers but temper them with caution and respect. If the circles changed their approach and merely became places of education and not prisons for mages then I would have no issue with them but none of the candidates we get for divine seem to offer that as an option. I will agree though that Cass seems like the best outcome for everyone involved though I will probably end up with leliana as divine in most of my playthroughs not only because of the mage issue but the fact she wants to create a fairer society for everyone not just humans.

Yeah, you have to do both of those things. I told her not to kill the agent but but picked the "they're soldiers" or whatever option in that second scenario and she didn't listen to me when I told her not to kill the sister.

 

I was irritated I didn't get to yell at her for that like I got to yell at Sera after she killed the noble in her personal quest. My dudequisitor doesn't like it when people disrespect his authoritay, lol

Yes, one of the best things about this universe is that the writers never give absolute answers in terms of "this is the one and only truth," so everyone is free to interpret the world as they understand it. We can go from all ranges of interpretations, and none is more right or wrong then the other, and the game acommodates for all points of view. That there isn't only one true way to read things is what keeps discussion of the universe interesting.

I got Cass in my first PT allying with the mages and being generally as anti-chantry as possible, but i gave her my support, discouraged leliana and, well, im still surprised viv didn't hire anyone to shiv my inquisitor. in my corrected PT i'm aiming for a softened leliana, though, for RP reasons.

 

Divine Viv is going to my loyalist Adaar, but Cassandra is probably going to be the default choice for all the others. Her... papacy seems to be the safest choice overall.

Regarding Ser Barris,

you can still promote him with the Templars disbanded, but he's only promoted to captain or commander of the few men you conscripted. To promote him to Knight-Commander of the remaining Templars in Ferelden, you need to freely ally with them.

Yeah I got Leliana back to the point of where she was in DA:O, kind, not willing to sacrifice people at a whim of hers. It truly is amazing in the progress you see in getting her back to who she once was.

She even tells you once you fully soften her that the person she was before being softened once again, was not who she really was and she thanks you.

 

So I don'y understand why people in some other threads are hating her and whining about her change. They made the choices that shaped her character so if I am to be blunt...I wish they would stop whining.

I actually don't think I'd go back and change those choices the first time I made them. They were the right ones at the time, and I think the right ones for my character. The trick for me now, is making sure she doesn't become Divine, because, ugh, not a hardened Leliana Divine. Definitely not.

You don't actually conscript the Templars in the same way you conscript the mages, you just make them join your army as regular soldiers. The context marquee for either side is (paraphrasing) "conscript the mages as prisoners of the Inquisition" and "convince the Templars to disband and join the Inquisition."

It would kill him to have to do it, but he would.
