Don't kill me Lola, but I love tough choices
. DA:I's best for me is about save Hawke or save Alistair... Since I love both AListair & Varric...
It made every decision to go right through the heart. I mean, having the third option like having Dark Ritual or Save Connor & not possessed back in Redcliffe feels like cheating somehow.
My issue isn't with bitter sweetness, it's when they force something on you that completely ruins or shits all over your previous games canon. For example, to keep Alistair and Hawke alive and still with my Warden I had to make him King, this ruins my long standing DA:O canon because originally I kept him as a Warden, I then had to change my Amell into a Cousland and marry him because she's supposed to be me and I certainly wouldn't stand for being anyone's mistress, plus I don't like hardening him (hur hur). It feels like I'm being punished for not going with BioWare's King Alistair canon, when I happen to prefer him as a Grey Warden.
BioWare say their games are about choices and decisions and that your protagonist is YOUR character. DG has gone on record as saying that when the game ends that protagonist no longer belongs to you, but just because you've completed it shouldn't mean the character you created suddenly become theirs to do whatever they want with because the decisions you made with that character directly affects the next game, and potentially could make a cameo, thus it's still your character because you're still playing in the DA universe. If MY character stands a chance of dying then that should be on MY terms, if I want them to survive then I believe that it should absolutely be an option. To some degree I also have an issue with them messing with the love interests because if you're romancing that person then they are directly tied to your past protagonist, you shaped who that character became. Sure, if you aren't romancing them then by all means let them do what they want with them, but if you are then don't bloody kill them off unless the player has the option to, all these characters have varying fates for a reason, would it kill them to let one of those fates be that they survive, lol.
Anyway, that's just my personal feelings on the matter.
