He's very very good at flirtation in general, except for that "It's a nice day" part. Somehow his flirtations with the quizzy is very subtle. I don't know whether all romances in DA:I are quite subtle or is it just Cullen.

The cutest thing about my Inquisitor and Cullen, was when they had a conversation about "did you leave anyone behind in Kirkwall?" at Skyhold and how she said "I'm glad you -- we all made it out alive." The way her eyes get, like "Did I really just say that." And then she just turns and tries to walk away. We got a lot of great awkwardness.... But I wanted more of that. I probably would have shipped them harder, if they made them slightly more painful and hilarious to watch. I really would have enjoyed watching them both be a fumbling bundle of nerves. They could have played that up a lot more than they did.

What do you guys think of the Well of Sorrows, then, if your Quiz choose to drink rather than Morrigan? At that point, you're basically a thrall of Solas, I guess? If Solas really is Fen'Harel, then his motivations are suspect at best. If he has control over the PC, then a good ending for Cullen/F!Quiz seems unlikely. Sounds like it would crank up the ANGST to 11, and it's hard to imagine Cullen reacting well to a love interest who is basically a puppet for a capricious elven god who helped start the whole Corypehus thing in the first place.

When it comes to him being hit on at the ball, he just strikes me as the sort of person who doesn't like to go to the dance club and mingle, and when he does get corralled into it and winds up being "popular," it's an uncomfortable experience because it's just an all around do not want sort of thing for him. It's not his personal preference and has next to nothing to do with who is or isn't hitting on him.

Mission failed. My third PT (parallel with second one romancing Cullen) had just failed the Solavelan mission. She's now enthralled to Cullenmance.

Especially since even Josephine recognises that she's being flirted with, even if she thinks it wasn't serious. Cass meanwhile is genuinely surprised when you tell her it's not in her head and that you really are into her...

And what makes it even cuter is that when you ask if she wants you to stop, she says "Yes!" and quickly rushes into another room in embarrassment and slams the door... only to open it again a few seconds later when you're about to walk off, and be like "No!"

 

It's fun to see a woman who once nearly groin attacked Varric with a dagger through a book, be so utterly flustered.

Considering he easily lets down a male Inquisitor who is flirting with him, I highly doubt he was uncomfortable due to it being a man. Cullen would have had more issue with the fact that people were hitting on him in general than the fact that it was a man.

I think the way they were pushing him bordered on predatory. Which may be normal at the Orlesian court, but wouldn't stop me from wanting to thump a few heads if I found anyone being cornered that way, especially one of my people who obviously didn't know how to deal with it, romanced or not.

I've thought about that myself as well but I think Flemythal releases you from the curse so in theory the inquisitor is no longer bound to mythals will. I suppose like any spell/curse though it could just be recast or something.

I totally agree. Cullen also happens to be very comfortable around Dorian and we know Dorian likes to flirt. He also comments that

he'd very much like to watch Cullen's walk of shame back to the barracks after that Wicked Grace game. I get the feeling that Dorian understands Cullen isn't into dudes and just does it for the fun of it, just like how you can continue flirting with him as a fem!quiz after he reveals his orientation to you. Dorian loves to joke but he's also very smart, sensitive, and sensible.

Aww yeah, I agree. I like to headcanon that the reason Cullen can sometimes be so suave with his flirts is because he's actually trying extra hard to be cool around his precious love interest. There are times when you catch him off guard or when he catches himself being truthful about something in an accidentally unromantic way - like when he sputters after saying he's truthfully been waiting eagerly for you to go to the lake with him but realizes he just accused you of keeping him waiting, LOL. He also admits to you that he "doesn't need help embarrassing himself in front of you" after Wicked Grace. Deep down he's still an awkward bumblybum. But that's okay. It just makes him all the more adorable. I actually wish we had the chance to tell him everything he does is cute and he doesn't need to worry so much, haha.

So one possibility I haven't seen mentioned (good for fanfic at least), unromanced Cullen and Amell/Surana - Amell/Surana romanced Alistair, refused the DR, and Alistair died. Ten+ years later, the HoF and Cullen meet again, a little worse for the wear but no longer the awkward Templar/Mage fraternization issue.

 

No, I don't want him pining pointlessly, and I don't think he is. But I've also known couples who met back up after 20 or more years (after going on with life) who've discovered they suit each other better now (including childhood friends who were never sweethearts then). It happens without it being an unhealthy obsession.

As far as Cullen + Amell/Surana, there are just some things you did that stick with you that you regret. For him, that could be one. Goodness knows there are things I've done that I still wish I could go back and redo. It isn't pining; it's just remembering how you realized after the fact how bad something you did was and wished you hadn't done it no matter how unavoidable it might have been at the time.
