I've taken him out killing darkspawn and collecting GW artifacts. Very dull, but he approves greatly when you find one. Though, I then had to awkwardly endure a small backlog of conversations I just wasn't all that interested in. Especially that dog one. I was like, 'dude, I'm a cat person, I don't care'.

Ha that would have made an interesting response.  Blackwall was going to be my second romance (well for my second female playthrough) but after hearing his story...I just can't seem to get interested in him.

I got the sense that this mixing of Worlds is what Solas intended by giving Corypheus the Orb. Several times, he talks about the Veil in an almost hateful, disdaining it for keeping spirits and mortals from freely mixing. It's possible that it, like the Black City, might be an ancient elven construct.

 

Yeah, same! It also would explain Sandal's prediction about the world "returning to the way things were".

Really does feel like it's an alternate universe version of the events going on in The Legend of Korra, except Korra actually chose to tear down the "veil" in her world so spirits and humans would learn to live with each other again. I actually can see how it would make sense in Thedas and where Solas is coming from - many of the problems with spirits being corrupted into demons and people being possessed by those demons stems from that fear and lack of knowledge about each other. Spirits don't know how to deal with the physical world and are easily corrupted when forced to do things against their will, people perpetuate the problem with their lack of empathy and understanding about how their pride/dreams/willpower influences the Fade, etc. We know that spirits like Cole, with the right guidance, can thrive in the physical world. Maybe allowing people to accept the Fade for what it is and encouraging a sense of collective goodwill towards would help shape it to be a habitable environment for people, too.

 

I haven't finished the game yet even though I've spoiled myself regarding Solas, but is that why he's so eager to +1 approve you when you make the effort to understand the Fade and his spirit friends? If everyone's connection to the Fade was the same strength, it might level the playing field between mages and non-magical folk somewhat. Properly integrating the spirit world and the physical world in Thedas would take a ton of work, but I do see how it might solve the problems people are having with power hungry people trying to be the first to harness its powers. No point in trying to break into the Black City again and again when everyone can enter it, ey.  And maybe the reason it was corrupted in the first place was because of the separation of the two worlds, since it predates the historical Tevinter invasion? Very curious

Wonderful, indeed. It had its feel pulling moments though. I liked the bits that tied it into LOTR. Can't wait to marathon ALL of it.

I'm happy with how they tied it all together with this one though as well. Made the second film not feel as... s***. I'd happily watch a marathon of them all now.
