Seriously? Elrond blew it! He had the chance at the outset to end it all before we had to go through either the Hobbit or LOTR, and instead of just
Spoilerbut NO!
Personally, I think that's why he always looks so sour. He messed up and knows it.
Please.

oooh Scottish you say! Is Jaime Fraser among their ranks....I may be persuaded if so.
In defense of the Elves
Spoiler
Though the Elves were pretty cool, but Dwarves... are on a whole other level.

I am referencing the original trilogy of films here, not the Hobbit ones which I've seen none of and have no intention of seeing any of them.
Unless the bit I'm referring to only appears in the extended cuts ...

So is it best to wacth it in 3d?
I enjoy epic adventure movies in 3d. But others are merely meh. I'd recommend it! And plus these don't do cheesy 3D things. I don't think they've done that in movies for a while, but I remember some that could've been good if they didn't keep trying to bring the audience in.

I went all out with the IMAX 3D combo. I'd say it was definitely worth it and well done.

I wouldn't recommend judging so quickly, frylock. You might be pleasantly surprised if you like the characters. I went in full of doubt because I read all four books a few times, but they're well done imo

I think there was a cheesy 3D effect during Elrond's scene. I remember doing that thing where you flinch because you think it's coming at you. I'm glad no one was sat next to me.

Oh, I'm not saying that they're poorly done. It's just that I'm the sort of person that tends to be either a book or movie person - or at least a movie before the book. When I read the book before the movie, the movie tends to disappoint no matter how well done it is. If I see the movie before the book, I'm OK.
With LOTR, I had never been able to actually get into the books enough to slog through them, so I love the movies. But, I read The Hobbit semi-regulary. I'm afraid of what might happen if I watch the movies. I don't want to wind up not liking PJ's work, but I'm afraid they won't be the book I do love. I don't have this problem with LOTR, so it's all good there. ![]()
And a good part of it is that I know how MY mind wants to see it, and I'm pretty sure that I won't see it like PJ does.

Don't expect the movie to be the book word for word. But like I said before, it's a very good movie. Watch it as a marathon, and it'll be an experience. ![]()

My brother and I do a LOTR marathon once a year. We usually don't finish cos you know. booze.
I've been threatened with a drunken Marvel marathon next summer by my oldest because she thinks I need to learn to appreciate Tom Hiddleston... ![]()

We do tend to veer off topic from time to time. There is only so much talking about Cullen that can be done. ![]()

WHOA WHOA WHOA. I love elves
I want to be Legolas
*heavy breathing* Like since I was 21 and saw the dang thing on opening night in 2001. Not that I wasn't obsessed with elves before that
Dwarves though... yeeeeah, dwarves are HOT
Oh, he of the magical perfect hair?
Hey, magical perfect hair fits right into this Commander's thread where we all speculate just what he did with his hair between DA2 and DAI...
