@Dirgegun, wait, what's new?

It's not new so much as they put up the background version of the cover art! And no EA sticker throwing off the balance of the image~

I'm probably one of the only people that could give less than a **** about him blowing up the chantry.

I wouldn't say I couldn't care less; I'd just say I like that he did that because it very much complicated his character and my Hawke's relationship with the character. It's part of what makes Anders so complex and wonderful (from a narrative standpoint).

Still, as objective as I try to be on mages v. templars stuff (and most often I fail....) I still haven't been able to play a Hawke who kills him. I can't say why either. Maybe a Hawke who would do that is just so incredibly different from myself that I can't enjoy playing him or her.

I thought your question was good!

I'm trying to formulate a question about Cullen's reaction to a mage Inquisitor versus the other classes, but the problem I'm having is it keeps coming out either so nebulous that it would be difficult to answer or else so specific that I think it would confuse him as a non-player. I haven't hit that sweet spot in the middle yet.

(Glad you're feeling better about the game, by the way!  :))

(Thanks  :kissing:) How about: "Will Cullen react differently to me if I'm a mage?"

Honestly, my main Hawke would murder knife Sebastian for his threat of war before Anders.

Or "Will Cullen treat me differently or badly if I'm a mage? Will he be mean to me?"

I know how you feel; I just asked him if he felt Cullen had changed and how (and prompted him with suggestions so he'd know what I meant). It's hard to express yourself in so little space.

Nah, that's a good question. I just asked what Cullen's theme song would be so I can download it and listen to it obsessively for the next five months.

Poor Seb; he's so undeveloped I don't think any of my Hawke's had an attachment to him. These days I just skip recruiting him altogether. He doesn't really fit into the story.

Ditto, dear. Him threatening to burn down Kirkwall made me give him the boot. Also, I don't like it when people question my showing mercy.

I think your question will result in the more entertaining answer though  GE is such a card; can't imagine what he'll come up with.

Yeah I will say that whenever anyone threatened Fenris (usually my Hawke's boyfriend) Hawke's eyes turned red and murder was seconds away from happening lol

THIS. When he threatened me I couldn't believe I couldn't murderknife him. Sebastian is a whiny manbabby. Did he really think I would kill my bf for the chantry when i'm an apostate? LOL bye.

I'm probably one of the only people that could give less than a **** about him blowing up the chantry. The only thing that bothered me as that he didn't trust Hawke enough to tell her what he was doing. I understand he didn't want her helping, but he kind of involved her in the end anyways so that's a lame excuse to me. I have a lot of sympathy for him though. I remember listening to this split of Justice and Anders voices in DA2 and it's so damn sad. Like I didn't even realize how much of what "Anders" says is actually Justice speaking or influencing him. Pretty much ANY time he starts going on about mages you can hear Justice speaking with him. I never kill him because that's what he and Justice want, to be martyred for the cause. DG said it IS possible to separate them, if Anders actually wanted to.

My Hawke knows Anders is a good person and she loves him. She's not going to give up and let Justice/Vengence win. Which he does if you kill Anders, since he'll just find a new host. In Act 3, the codex even says Anders considers Hawke the only reason he's retained any sanity at all. I just can't bring myself to kill him, and I can't leave him because without Hawke he'll go even more insane. So she'll say with him as long as possible, I suppose.

tl;dr I LOVE ANDERS BYE HATERS

My Hawke actually didn't kill Anders for blowing up the chantry. She was horrified by what he did, but the damage was done and killing him wouldn't have fixed anything. It wasn't revenge.

She killed him because she knew she couldn't stop him from doing it again. And again. And again... until he got the outcome he wanted. She killed him because he'd slipped so far and he seemed to have no concept the magnitude of the harm he had caused. If he'd come to her in that moment and told her he had made a horrible mistake and needed help, he'd still be alive - but he didn't even seem to realize how brutal what he'd done was.

My Hawke felt responsible for him, and she had no way to keep him safe or to keep other people safe from him. That's why she knifed him, because she cared about him and could see no other way to protect him from himself.  :(

In my headcanon she whispered "I'm sorry" to him as she stabbed him.

I don't want her difficult, awful choice to lose its gravity by having his death handwaved in the new game.

I don't mind Seb too much, but some of his writing made no sense to me whatsoever. He was a complete and total playboy before his vows, and yet he acts like a completely sheltered virgin at times. I find it just a little... worthy of side-eyeing because I can't help but feel his writer fell into a stereotypical religious trap with him.

While I can understand Seb being extremely distraught, I do wish Hawke could have responded to his threat.

Also threatening to raze an entire city based on what one guy did? Seb bb, we need to talk.

My 2c, I typically keep Anders alive because he wanted (and expected) to die for his actions. It was his idea of justice for those he had killed in the blast. The mentality I used was Hawke wasn't going to let him have the easy way out and escape the consequences of his actions. Nope, he was going to live through it. And, well, Hawke loved him too.

so I've asked 3 questions already  - does anyone care to ask another on my behalf? I was wondering when GE is going to finally going to play the game to see what all the fuss is about Cullen. (I was going to say 'play with himself', but that would be indecorous!)

Huh?

Anders knew exactly what he had done, which was why he wanted to die. He did what he did to start a rebellion he believed needed to happen lest the mages continue to be abused by a system that protected the corrupt, but he believed completely that he would -- and should -- die for it, to give those who had been caught in the middle justice.

OH BE-STILL MY BEATING HEART!

He’s not a romance, but he’s, you can hang out with him and be your bud and have that same kind of depth.

I disliked Cullen insisting to kill all the mages including Irving for that reason. It made me sad when I agreed with him and Irving gives his life up to the templars in accordance with your wishes. I understood though. I don't hold it against him because I realize mercy is probably difficult to see when you've been tortured and mindfucked for months. It's obvious in DA2 he's a good person. Just traumatized.

I also got the impression he fully expects you to kill him for what he did. He seems genuinely surprised if you don't.
