R2s Muse and Dracofish2:

Writing right now like there's no tomorrow. Thanks for all the incentive!

Here's a little sneak peek (on the next post):

She wasn’t sure if her own expression betrayed those notions, but his eyebrows quirked ever so slightly and a short, satisfied noise came from his throat, as if he guessed what went on her mind.
— Well, now that we’re here, would you follow me to my room? It’s on the second floor.
— Y-your room? — she replied, yet again surprised — So this is...
— My home. Or at least it was until the Blight. Mind your step. These steps are rather...untrustworthy.

And further on:

She entered the secret lair of what was possibly the most private man in Thedas.

Probably best not to backtrack at this point. Today's been a little rough for the fandom. :)

From what I can gather, it's something about how there was plans for Culling to be Bisexual but were dropped, and now a bunch of people are mad. How right is that?

Well, that was mindblowing. Too bad for the mod. (TUmblr had calmed a little bit... or not).

Sorry about the "—" before each line.

In Portuguese, we use dashes instead of commas (I think it's commas) in dialogs.

(It would be easier if books all used the same standards around the world, but alas, that is not so. >_>)

Yeah, there's a campaign going on somewhere in the BSN for bisexual Cullen.

Crazy, huh?

Methinks our proud lion is so seductive not even men can keep their hands off him.

Who would want to keep their hands off??? Heehee...

I wish I had a talent for writing stories like you guys. Alas, my artistic skills lie in the realm of photography, which doesn't help us in the game-world, lol.

Someone (don't remember who, sorry) asked for reference to Starkhaven sending Templars to act in Kirkwall under Cullen's command a million pages ago, since I was doing the quest again I got caps this time:

I don't blame Blackwall. He is what he is. I blame BioWare for springing him on us. It's a little cruel to spring something like that in romance. In a way, it's almost as harsh as Thane, but with Thane, you knew going in what was coming. It was, IMO, always a vain hope to think that his condition would be cured. Coming on top of everything else they were going to have to do in order for Shepard to have a chance of winning in the end, finding a cure for Thane too was just going to be one too many wins.

But with Blackwall, you go in thinking the worst is that he will get his Calling.

I like Blackwall...not nearly as much as Cullen by a longshot, but I still think he's interesting. I knew something was off when he kept trying to get my quizzy to break it off with him, so I had to find out what it was.

Thane on the other hand...oh Thane. I have never balled my eyes out so much over a friggen video game. I had one Shep romance him and I can never bring myself to do it again. He was right up there with Garrus in terms of how much I liked him but I was just too heartbroken to play that one more than once. I remember watching a countdown of most emotional video game deaths of all time and Thane was right up there near the top...I think maybe #2 behind Aerith from FFVII.

I'm not going to retread arguments from earlier but as someone who wanted Kaidan as a male love interest in the first Mass Effect and finding that content cut as well, while odds are Cullen isn't going to be a love interest beyond this game and DLC would never address this, lobbying Bioware does sometimes get folks what they ask for as ME3 showed.

So no.  Not crazy.

So I started my elf playthrough for Solas... I wish we would have gotten more voice choices. I don't feel like either of the voices match my elf.

Eh, some of the hate the characters in this game get is... interesting. Blackwall and Sera, in particular. The double standards people put into hating these characters when they've let far worse people get away with far worse behavior or actions before are more telling about the fandom than about the characters themselves. At some point you have to just shrug it off, because trying to make sense of it is pointless.

I had the good sense to stay away from Thane romance-wise. I cried enough without romancing him. That scene with the last prayer where it turns out to be for Shep is just a huge gut punch, romanced or not.

Thane is one of those characters I wish they hadn't wasted like they did. I loved him and felt like he was so unessential and then wound up being there just for the feels. It made me so mad at BioWare. He could have been so awesome if they had used him appropriately, and then how much more of a gut punch would it have been?

Anyway, I just read the last few pages about the subject that made Tumblr looks like a scene in Girls Gone Wild, and one remark: Y'all are wonderful! Everyone knows how to say an opinion while not forcing others on that POV, & really polite compared.

A bit on Trevelyan's childhood (it's part of the fanfic):

"Most of her childish friendships were forged with the sons and daughters of proud nobles, such as her parents. Like her, they faked having any real bond in front of their families. Once out of sight, the kids would disband, some hurrying back to their nannies, to whom they complained and complained about not liking having to be away from home. Others would just downright ignore her. And some would engage in polite conversation, only to end up criticising everything about her: from her Fereldan accent to her rustic garments.

Truth be told, she only had two friends until she was way more grown up, none of them of noble birth: the son of the cooker and his sister. It’s no wonder she never felt bothered by Cullen not being nobility. If he were, she might not even have liked him. No matter how much her family tried, she could never feel comfortable with the exceeding futility she was expected to demonstrate once they introduced her to the orlesian court.

@ ninetozero, In a lot of the things you reference, you the player have full control over how much pain you put yourself through. You don't get that as much in the case of Blackwall. It's a set up from the start, and you have to make some pretty tough decisions and none of them are good.

Just for reference, I don't hate Blackwall, far from it.

Now, she could only imagine their disappointment when she volunteered to join a group of soldiers to Haven. Or perhaps not. Inquisitor Trevelyan, that’s how she was now known across Thedas. A name to be both admired and feared. Power and nobility all in one person. Truly a figure fit for admiration in any court. Who could’ve predicted the events on Haven would end in such manner? Life did seem hellbent on forcing her to play the main role in a sordid ironic play.

I have a question: So today, I got the awkward convo where Mother Giselle confronts the Quizzie and Dorian about the distasteful rumors, and I had to wonder ... Where on earth is she getting her gossip from?! Obviously, she's not talking to the soldiers because it surely hasn't escaped any of their attention that the General and Quizzie take a lot of strolls on the battlements for "debriefing" when she's in the Keep. Or are the rumors about wild threesomes?

That describes all of Anders' romance too, and people seem to love that one, no? That's what I mean - people are willing to do a lot of handwaving for certain characters, but others get crucified for the same or even much less.

In any case, this is an awkward discussion that doesn't go anywhere productive, and the thread's had enough of those for today, between the Sebastian hate earlier, the sexuality arguments later, etc. I really just wanted to make the point of "what else was he supposed to say," not start another of those. Over and out. ;)

Well, don't forget Dorian is an eeeeeevil magister. Why else would he be around if he weren't blood magicking his way into the Inquisitor's good graces? Plus, don't forget Josie mentions there are rumors about the Inquisitor with half Thedas.

Plus, I have this theory that she was making up the rumor herself to help her speech about how having Dorian around was bad for the Inquisition.

Actually, no, I don't like Anders, but I don't hate him. I can excuse a lot right up until what he did at the end. Where Blackwall was redemptive, Anders was spiraling out of control. Perhaps if we got to see him on the other side with an upward swing and acknowledgement that his final act in Kirkwall was wrong ... I don't know. But we are left with that final impression of him which is pretty poisonous. Imagine if your last impression of Blackwall was him ordering that massacre. That is also pretty poisonous.

But I am consistent in that I wind up letting both characters pay for their past actions and can't see myself playing a character where it won't happen for either one. My only Anders romance was the first play through, and he didn't leave it alive.

In plain language, there really aren't any characters that I hate. That takes way too much of my time and energy.
