The real kick in the stomach was when straight romances were revealed to be returning the same day Cullen was announced as a LI. I just knew at that point.

 

Then on the day was announced as straight, I, erm... actually cried >.> lol #NoLife

 

That's why they shouldn't have left those unused stuffs in the final copy. Except if they're gonna implement that later on (well I'm not sure). Many people already got their kick once when he was announced as LI & straight option. I can understand their time concern of not being able to do the cinematics to make really good stuffs, but leaving that audio recording just for people to find out later & get kicked a second time is a REALLY BAD idea. And Bioware, don't say that you can't imagine how many people will try to extract the smallest details from unused files!

 

My full empathy to everyone in this case *Hug*. Before, I didn't like the idea of modding Cullen as bi option because I felt that it's like not respecting his writer's choice about his character (the same reason David Gaider got angry about people wanting to mod Dorian). But now it's a different thing if they had initially intended him up to having Greg recording the audio & cut off due to technical issue.

 

EDIT: I really believe that in this matter, erasing this possibly-sensitive audio recording is vital to avoid heartaches. I mean no one care if we find an unused audio recording between Peasant A and Peasant B in Location C talking about whether potatoes is a better option than banana, but anything including romance gating IS sensitive subject for many.

@Cerulion - they thought Frostbite was un-moddable, so probably didn't do much tidying up - I find that quite funny.  Once again they underestimate the modding community!

Back to the writing for me!

 

The truth is out there my Cullen crazed friends. My opinion rests and I really don't feel like discussing it anymore.It's getting quite annoying on both sides of the argument and I don't see BW changing anything. So maybe we can all let it rest? Or at the very least direct this all to that thread in Feedback &Suggestions. 

 

Character integrity, just remember character integrity.

Yup yup, I know many movies always do that. What's bad (IMO) is not doing this extra recording in-case, but to fail to erase them. This kind of files contain sensitive stuffs that may get many people hurt.

The other thing to consider is this: BioWare went out of their way to balance the LIs - 2, 2, 2.

 

Homosexual - Sera, Dorian - both have happy endings as far as I can tell

Bi - Bull, Josi - both have happy endings as far as I can tell

Heterosexual - Blackwall, Cass - one is depressing as all hell and the other can leave you to be Divine

 

Umm, I see a definite imbalance in theme there.

 

Maybe that's why they decided to do what they did because there was a long, long thread with lots of women complaining about how all their romances end up in tragedy. So, straight women get the short end. They can add Solas, and it does make sense to gate him. However, that doesn't address the tragedy angle. So they add Cullen and make him straight to make up for Blackwall.

And I'm sure she had to sign some sort of confidentiality agreement as well. I know that the game is released but those sort of documents usually are put in place to prevent employees or ex-employees revealing "secrets" so to speak.

Also on the confidentiality thing mentioned above, every studio will have non-disclosure agreements in place and many studios are very strict about what you can say on social media, even after you've left the studio those NDA's are normally still in effect to a degree. The place I work at makes you sign at least 5 of the bloody things before they'll even let you see anything to do with a game much less work on it and they won't allow you to use USB devices for fear that you'll take work home with you and leak it on 4chan or something .

Actually, Gaider said he doesn't really care about the mods at all. I remember the tweet cause it surprised me a little.

I was the kind of fan to be giving Bioware any aggro right now, it'd be that they patch back in the customisable Keep, the Crestwood dilemma and restore whatever we suspect was cut from the end-game that made the pacing come across as really disjointed... y'know, stuff that would enhance the game and make it even better to play?

 

Or we could just spend all our time demanding a bi Cullen, I guess...

In their announcements about romance options, they had clearly stated that they want to give info about this kind of things early on to avoid heartaches later on. I really feels that they should've taken care of the unused sensitive audio files. This is important. Maybe leaving discussion about "Potato or Banana" is not, but whether an LI is available to which gender is.

 

... Anyway, what had been done is done. The damaged had been there. Whether they'll put DLC/patch or not, people won't be happy.

Which was when exactly? Yesterday was the first I heard of it, so assuming everyone found out at the same time I did expecting an immediate answer on the same day is a bit too much too ask, especially as the bioware offices are now closed for christmas and the dev's are having some much needed R&R.

For me I Like the character of Bioware writing her personality and I respect the good work they create for romance the fans just rescpect her job ! This the similar problem with mass effrect why jack is straight, Thane because people found the lines who delete and no intregate in the game
