Otherwise I would agree but Dorian being bi would need modders to completely change his quest and his backstory ^^; In his case his sexuality is quite big part of character unlike with Cullen who don't have story content relating his sexuality.
They wouldn't necessarily have to change Dorian's back story. The people that downloaded the mod just would need to do so knowing there's going to be a giant inconsistency in the story (are we both talking about amateur modding here or the DLCs?). Same with Cullen. He was represented as straight way back in DAO when he got all flustered over the females, but didn't over the males. I know it's quite different than have a huge giant personal quest. But still, the implication was there which would make any mods (and the game if Inquisition had decided to go that route) inconsistent.
Regarding Fan Fiction, I remember way back when it first started to become popular a lot of show execs and things of that nature were entertaining the idea of suing fan fiction writers because technically they didn't own the rights to manipulate and use their characters. This prompted our lovely disclaimers.
I think I read somewhere that the only reason GRRM doesn't like fanfiction is that he thinks it makes writers lazy, since they're not world-building for themselves or coming up with characters, but simply borrowing someone else's and having half the work done for them?
I can see his point, but I still think that fanfiction is a legitimate art-form that's been around since before humanity even knew how to write (no single person wrote all ancient myths, after all) and shouldn't be disguarded as just "bad writing".
(Besides, Stephenie Meyer's entire body of work reads like particularly bad fanfiction, so it's not like "real" authors can look down their nose at fanfic writers either)
I guess I am a lazy writer then! ![]()
I actually really get his point. When my sister asked me why I was writing fan-fiction I told her it was because it was easier to do that then to start from scratch. GRRM has me down pegged!
But it is all for fun, I don't know if I will ever really be serious about it.
Rather than continue wading through more re-hashing, someone let me know when it's safe to return to the thread.
Maybe
Oups...
It took me back to my childhood, my nickname was blossom. ![]()
Another bit of the fanfic:
‘You wouldn’t know. Kirkwall was being assaulted daily by blood mages coming from nearby cities and even far away places like Starkhaven. Still, Howe reassured me it was nothing of the sort. Well, what would he know? Like every other innocent, he was blind to the constant danger a mage was exposed!’ —he growled— ‘I swear, at that moment, I almost renounced my post as Knight-Captain just to go after her and tell her to stop this madness. Consorting with blood mages...Maker’s breath, as if I didn’t have enough on my plate.’
Ummm, ok.
Forgot the caption of '...wth?'
I'm really hoping that question remains unanswered. One makes the counselor in me want to take action.

Isn't that's precious? ![]()
I'll get round to reading that a little later. Maybe tomorrow.
Lo, be warned--it is s***. ![]()

Actually since BW has had same idea I don't think Cullen is so plainly straight. He was just into female Amell/Surana, pretty similar situation as with Kaidan in ME I guess. Also people can became aware of their sexuality later on their life and if the Cullen's m/m content was cut off just because lack of time, it could mean that he's still bisexual ^^
Well I think this is point that has been discussed a lot before gatings were announced. What comes to Dorian, well some people might not care about bugged story but I think it would be quite big issue for his character cause that would mean it wouldn't work. I wouldn't mind another gay character to be modded available but Dorian wouldn't work in my eyes. It would be similar as cutting Cullen's lyrium addiction or his struggle with himself from past. It would remove the story.

Yeah, I don't particularly want to go down that route either.

Interesting. Is this a one-shot still or a full-length Inquisitor story?

As always, anything for you. ![]()
Just popping in to share a thing I might or might not have done using the dai modding tools.
I thought for a split second the vein on his cheek there was an extension of the scar and so now it is =o
No doubt it won't be for everyone but once we can easily share mods i'll be sure to 'release' it for those interested =)
Nice detail with the second scar. But is it me or does the one near and on his lip look fainter?
When I was about 5, I was in love with Clint Eastwood. He was in 'Rawhide' at the time, but was obviously still waaaaaaaay too old for me. I'm told I used to kiss the tv and announce 'I'm going to marry Rowdy.' Mercifully, I have blanked it from my memory!
Lol, when I was 7 I was in love with Nick Carter and would burst into tears every time a Back Street Boys music video came on the TV. Ultimate fangirling right there.

... I shouldn't have mention that. Sorry if it makes you uncomfortable. The post is hidden now.

I didn't touch it, the picture might be a bit out of focus.

Yep, that about sums up my grade school years, except mine was Brian.
haha I still get excited when I hear one of their songs to this day. Got a ton of people singing "As Long As You Love Me" a few months back at Universal Studios. Dorkily legit.

No worries. Tis all good. I was only thrown by that suggestion.

I actually think I may still know all the lyrics to their first album. Sooooo bad. Thank god by the age of 10 I actually started getting some taste in music. Big brother to the rescue.

Exactly, writing should always been something people enjoy, otherwise there's no point doing it!

Well, before the series I always imagined the Hound quite young actually. I know that now with the series on air, it'll be quickly considered as improper.
Maker, I'm really bad at not saying things like this am I? ![]()

It's supposed to be a one-shot, but it seems Cullen had so much bottled up inside him, he's making me write the story of his life (sort of).
Characters can do that to their writers, sometimes. I'm just letting him confess his heart out. ![]()

Do you have a compilation of all the posts you've written? I was quite lost, surely missed a few post ![]()
