Writing does that a lot of the time, lol. How's your fic going? 

Zima? In weird directions of her own . I actually have another one almost complete where Cullen catches her telling the children a Dalish children's story, but I want to finish some connecting stuff between the first conversation in Haven and the Charge story first. I dunno why I have an urge to write a friendship story that fills in all the odd things they left blank in the game unlike all the lovely smut, er romance, others are enjoying writing, but I'm having fun with it.

Chiming in a little late on scents...

 

Sweet smelling herbs were heavily used (even peasants can grow lavender or rosemary after all) though often the reasons had to do with keeping pests and disease away. Look up "still rooms" and you'll find that women were actually practical chemists (at least in some times and places); I have any number of period recipes for "toilet waters," etc. So imagine all the nice smells you could want (cedar in particular for woolens).

 

Bathing and changing clothes was probably not as drastically ignored as a lot of writers try to portray them (just like the child marriages, they often latch onto one or two examples at the extreme end to say this is how things were for everyone), but certainly much less common than now. Underclothing was probably changed and washed more frequently than outer clothing. Water (especially clean water) was an issue, much less heating it up (over populated countries are usually mostly deforested, so not much to burn besides dung, phew!). However, Thedas has some advantages that the real world didn't, particularly magic (and lots of woodlands in Feredan, at least).

I’ve noticed something that is kind of bothersome with Cullen.
 
At some point Cullen will talk you about what happened to him in Fereldan’s Circle. Then later he will say,
 
“I never told anyone what truly happened to me in Ferelden’s Circle.”
 
This made me stop and think, you know breaking stuff down to see all the pieces.
 
I recall in DA2 that Cullen spoke openly to Hawke about what happened to him in the Circle.
 
Cullen: “I still have nightmares about Uldred’s depravities.”
 
Cullen: “I was in the Circle Tower during the Blight. I was kept in a cage for days? Weeks? Months? It was one unending nightmare. I saw what those mages did. I would gladly give my life to never go through that again.”
 
I don’t see how Cullen says he never told anyone what truly happened in Fereldan’s Circle when in fact he did. If there was to be something more revealing perhaps the script could have called for explaining exactly what they tortured Cullen’s thoughts with. Of course this would depend on if your Warden was a female mage. Not only that explaining how Cullen was captured and how long he actually been within the magic cage.
 
To me Cullen just reveals what he revealed to Hawks-nothing new.
 
Am I missing something?

Well... There is a huge different between that few phrases of event summary
he mentionned to Hawke and really tell the Inquisitor about how he feels about it. I assume that with the quizzy he shares the worst of his fears & feelings there.

I have my Gweln Lallvan catch Cullen telling human children a Dalish fairy tail which was told by my warden mage elf to him at his time in Kin loch hold, as well. This elf warden of course before her trip to cure the taint comes by Kirkwall to see him again, and check up on Anders and Justice though slaped him like Gibbs does once she learned he megred with him. But protects him and ask Cullen to look out for him since he a former Grey Warden helping out Felderan refuges from the blight.

Hand waves the awful not noticing the three Mages in the group. lol

The first time I found him he was up near Cole, the second time he was hising round the back of the stables. Sneaky bugger

Finally finished my first playthough after 100 or so hours.  I could have easily played longer, so much left untouched, but I wanted to leave something for my next character to do!  I even skipped through the end but with Flemeth and Solas so as to save that for my next playthrough.  

Lady Evie Trevelyan wasn't bothered about all the elves, magic etc, she was a rogue who's main concern was stopping Cory - and now that's done is retiring to her happy ever after as the future Mrs Rutherford.  

Next up - Solasmancing elf, but can't decide between warrior or mage.  Mage would fit her thoughtful, spiritual personality better, but I'm rubbish at playing mage - I find it much easier to just dash in and hit things!  Can I manage it. hmmm.  (And can I keep her away from Cullen...?)


Love love love this game - I love that I have played 100+ hours and have never met Sir Trifles... haven't closed all the rifts, haven't done all the quests.  Love it!

Yeah this elf warden also comes back to him and they marry eachother since she romanced no one in DA:O after she found the cure she gave it too the other Wardens to keep stuff like them being controlled by begins like Corynphus. Since this playthough had my Lallvan romance Sloas.

Isn't that interesting, Josie and Leliana are smiling completely oblivious to it yet Cullen has that look on his face where he knows something isn't right. There's his moral compass going off again! What's interesting is that in the Envy fade quest Cullen says he deserves his punishment for letting the Inquisitor go too far etc, how awful would it have been if it had really happened! Serving under another person who goes mad with power and him not doing anything until it's too late to try and stop it. Poor baby.

The website where I posted In Your Lips, I Shall Forever Lie was being an ass.

It prevented people accessing the story directly due to "age requirements".   

 

So I changed the minimum age from 18 to 16.

 

 

Now people should be able to access the fanfic without any problems.
