haha doesn't he have some freaky fan club for the brows?
I remember seeing that in the FB Hobbit Q&A they did. Shocking enough to catch my eye and make me read the rest of it.
Maker, this thread is all over the place with the off-topic right now... sorry, would have saved the serious Cullen post for another time if I'd seen it.
Anyway...
I hope it was intentional! Speaking of the sword of mercy, what does everyone think of Solas' wall paintings as you progress through the game. There's a silhouette of a figure with at least three arms holding one (pointed down).
Well, the Judex condex entry does mention that the flaming sword imagery was already in use before the time of Andraste. Solas might be using imagery related to old symbolism among ancient Tevinters or even ancient elves. There are even theories that Andraste was possibly one of the old elven gods going on out there at this point, after the reveals of this game.
Yeah but when there are mods everyone will look amazing at the ball and I will still the same lame outfits.
Oh that Lee Pace
He was in... uh, Guardians of the Galaxy, I think. Right, well, whole time I forgot I was supposed to be afraid of him and just thought he was such a pretty little evil overlord ![]()

Um, okay, no, I finally have to say something lol Arwen was not included in LOTR for T&A. She is not naked in any scene and is never, EVER presented as a sex object. EVER.
Arwen is not even IN the original novel(s). Why, because Tolkien simply did not think to write about women. Women had a place in his life, and that was in the home. It was the 30s/40s/50s, and he was very old-fashioned. So that is reflected in his work. Even Eowyn only goes to battle to be with her "love" Aragorn and ultimately gives up her sword and shield to become a "healer" once she finds her "proper" love.
Jackson and co. increasing Arwen's visibility in the narrative AND altering Eowyn's motivations AND including Galadriel in The Hobbit AND creating Tauriel were done as service and acknowledgment towards FEMALE fans. Because the original narratives are essentially boys' stories, stories about boys going on journeys and having adventures WITHOUT women. I am grateful to him and his team for what they have done; they really thought about appealing to female fans and making them feel included; they wanted to show that women can go on adventures just like men can.
The only issue I have with Tauriel is the love story... in my opinion, in order to be a well-written female character (not just a trope) she needs more motivation than a boy she just met to leave her home for the first time. But ultimately I think her character was handled well and the actress did an excellent job.
Just my two cents on the matter; could not stay silent any longer
BACK TO CULLEN....
I think you took me too literally when I said "T&A." Obviously there is no sex/sexuality in Tolkien's works (part of the reason why no matter how much I love these stories, Martin's are better, imo...yes I'm a perv, lol).
And I can safely say that as a female, I would have rather they left Arwen's character in the background...they kinda combined her with Glorfindel (who doesn't even exist in the movies). I understand where you're coming from with saying they added Tauriel and increased Arwen's role to bring women to the forefront, but I honestly don't think it was needed (if that's really the reason why they did it). Then again, I was always considered "one of the boys" anyways, lol.
I've been a player of the MMO, Lord of the Rings Online, since 2007, which is way more immersed in Tolkien's actual lore than the movies so I was able to get pretty familiar with the characters rather than reading the books again and again.
I'm watching the Hobbit again tomorrow.
Taking my little brother.

So, uh, this must've been his Thranduil ah-ha moment.
Those baby blues do say come hither...oy...
He's very handsome, but his "scruffy" look is way more hawt!

I keep surreptitiously asking if anyone hasn't seen the film yet, then saying I would love to see it again. So far no takers
lol
I'm not on PC either. We can both be fashion rejects together
though I will die of jealousy if someone manages to mod in one of those fancy Orlesian dresses *sigh* at least it's better than Hawke's jester outfit in MOTA
Haha, deal! I feel so much better now that I know I wont be the only loser. ![]()

There is no shame in going on your own. I do it all the time.

I'd take you if it were physically possible. You know that, right?

Oh my god! Do you want to go together? I have zero friends that would be interested. As to why I also haven't seen it yet. ![]()
Edit: We could like, Skype each other in our respective theaters. ![]()

I much preferred the way they handled Galadriel in the movies
although
Spoiler
People keep talking about that and I don't see it...
But I agree about the "women as subplots" thing! At least Eowyn was changed so that she goes into battle to KICK ARSE ... unlike the books.
Full beard appreciated but not needed; hint of scruff is just as nice
PROOF:
I have a twitter friend who looks like him, but bigger lol.
