Too bad I'm so not into any of that music...  :(

The only one that I found & like from Brianne's list is Falling Slowly. That made me cry because well... honestly it made me think of that sad story of his.

Guess that I cried too easily over any trivial matters :P

I know the video of the messenger banter is on YouTube, but I took screenshots anyway. Had to, really, since this was such a rare/odd occurrence.

Although that honestly depends who you have as an instructor... otherwise, it can turn into an utter nightmare!

:P

I wonder which of these scenarios are the most possible...

1. The quizzy learn to dance with Josie & Leliana & Vivienne. Cullen discreetly ask either of them to teach him a bit of dancing for... you know :P

2. The quizzy learn to dance with Josie & Leliana & Vivienne & they force Cullen to be the partner (a bit less possible due to what he said in-game during Halamshiral quest)

3. Cullen tried to learn by himself the movements, too shy to ask anyone to teach him

4. Mia taught him when he was young

5. He just go BAAAAASSTAAAAAAA! at the end of Wicked Eye, Wicked Heart without knowing how to dance at all

6. Dorian taught him how. (just a hunch but I'm quite sure Dorian knows how to dance perfectly & is a good dancer)

I kind of got the sense Cullen was from a good family. Wouldn't he already know how to dance? I mean he's not a farm boy, right?

I got from it he's just a commoner and he went to the Chantry at 13yrs, he did comment that they don't teach them how to dance there

(he mentions he has no titles outside the Inquisition - might still be a wealthier family than average commoner though)

What's your definition of a "good family"? If you mean middle class & up, well there are farmers who own their land & on very good standing but this still leaves him a farmer's boy

I'm quite agree with your view however, Cullen's the eldest son right? He left home at 13. Normally if the family's not on good standing it'll be hard to let the eldest boy go to serve elsewhere since it's the age he can normally start working like a man.

Still, learning to dance at 13?

Other than Cullen being from Honnleath and having 2 sisters and a brother, we don't know much more.

You're definitely going to have to teach me how to do that! I've taken the screenshots, just literally have no idea what to do next!

Okay well you have to make sure you have your setting fine turned to the point of where your PS4 is connected to facebook, youtube, or twitter. You follow the directions those settings give you and then once you have your PS4 linked you go into the storage thing for screenshots/videos and upload them to your desired social network. It's actually pretty simple!

Don't forget as well, it did take a bit of convincing for his family to let him go. I think it's been left open a bit.

This is what I always imagine, that it's something he would've been taught early. I wrote something recently where he was a bit offended that Hawke assumed he wouldn't know how to dance just because his family was common. LOL Even if he's not good at it. It was an interesting classist moment to think about.

I dunno, his full name sounds like something a family who were well-off would come up with?

Could be that they're simply landed gentry, wealthy enough to not be considered a commoner, but not rich enough to hold any titles?

He probably learned some form of dancing ... square dancing? (actually it's quite fun once you get into the rhythm of it)

Honnleath wasn't that back in the woods. For a town, it's pretty well-sized place, good for trading, farming, and living. Kind of like the suburbs?? But in a country??

I like option 1 :-) seems like a shy cullen would've asked one of the ladies for...research purposes

You make a good point there! I can see it going both ways though - perhaps the reason the Knight-Commander had to convince his parents to let him leave was because he was having trouble convincing them himself. That could have been due to his age and because they wanted to keep him safe, but it also could have been because they needed him around for the family business. Either way, it's lots of fun imagining what his home life might have been like. Sounds like he had strong moral values and a desire to protect people from a young age, so we know his parents must have been fantastic people

Also a tad hypocritical of Hawke, considering we know that s/he did grow up on a farm as a commoner...

On Cullen's sibs... of note, Brianne said she she "always imagined he was the 2nd child" which isn't strictly meaning it's canon, I guess.

"Mia is older, as you've guessed. I actually imagined Cullen as the 2nd child, though likely close in age to his brother."

That was exactly the upshot of the conversation. She says she doesn't know how to dance, because duh, simple Lothering farmers don't do that sort of thing. And it would've blown their cover as runaway gentry. (he then basically tells her she's an idiot, because everyone dances; yeah... it's a bit of a rivalmance at that point... :D)

Well, if he's eldest boy or second eldest boy can change a lot if he's commoner... I imagine at that era the boys (and maybe girls) will have to go to the field once they are able, if the family is not rich enough to hire anyone.

Different story if the family is landed gentry however

Thanks for sharing! I imagined him as a 3rd child. For some reason, I thought he was one of middle children and had a older brother in addition to an older sister. Maybe because he chose the Templar route because usually middle or the last child in DA universe tend to send their children away to the Chantry.

Interesting. What platform are you playing DA:I on? I'm on Xbox 360 (don't laugh) :P

I'm wundering if it could be a platform only bug. Yeah for some of the conpaion stuff you have to have high enough approval for it to happen. I can general keep most of the conpaions on good terms but madam stuck up is another matter. Strangle my mage is on good terms with her, my warrior not so much.

I am on PC, Windows 8.1. I haven't had any of the graphical/quest-breaking/party banter glitches that folks have been talking about. The only thing I am having a problem with is the Skyhold messenger stuff...

I think what's different is that he *chose* to be a templar instead of it being expected of him. I could see both farmers and landed gentry thinking it's not a sensible thing for their eldest son and heir to do.

In contrast, I always used to imagine that they were farmers and immensely proud of him becoming something as important and upstanding as a templar knight.

I always get the feeling that he actually understands very very well about all flirtings & how these kind of stuffs work since the beginning.

He's not oblivious, just too shy to apply them.

It's more a joke on the fact that David Gaider himself describes Cullen as "oblivious" when justifying why he never comments on Hawke's magic.

"DG: Jennifer wrote that plot, and afterwards, I forget what it was, someone said "You know, wouldn't Cullen happen to burst onto the scene and you're casting spells, wouldn't he say 'So you're a mage...'" It was too late for us to do anything about it and we decided that Cullen is just very oblivious."
