I really just wanted to get to hear is non-romance dialogue...but...i...just...can't!  I hit the heart every time! Something is wrong with me!!

That's what youtube is for

If not, I suggest having 2 PT in parallel. One with Cullen & one not with Cullen... Just do a male character or dwarf or Qunari

I hope you are not still planning on romancing Blackwall if you are always flirting with Cullen. You cant hurt our baby like that!

How can I not romancing Cullen after knowing what it's all about? He makes me feel warm & squishy on the inside

Commoners seem to be able to join up just fine. If you don't take him with you, Carver is allowed to join up without any effort, long before Hawke returns with a bucketload of a gold from the Deep Roads to get back their family's noble status?

Plus does Samson look like the kind of guy who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth?

I sort of imagined it like the army or any other military type organization.  They will accept your application but you must pass the training for full membership.

And I would say no silver spoon for Samson but he does have a lovely VO. lol

So, uh, not to interrupt and derail but I am finally successful with a male PC!

Spoiler

....and I think I accidentally made a PC resembling Lee Pace

He's cute.

That's Fenris' VA Gideon Emery.  DA series have so much great VA like Greg, Steve Valentine, Gideon Emery, Jon Curry, Leliana's & Morrigan's & Miranda Raison...

Anyway, R.I.P Queen of Antiva :crying:  *Cullen needs a hug*

The only way I ever got a Zevran romance in DAO was that I had to just stop talking to Alistair at all once he tried to offer me that rose. I had to nope on out of that and just pretend I was talking to him from that point on while carrying on the romance with Zev. I just didn't have the heart to do anything else.

Once it dawned on me exactly who my PC was starting to look like...I might have.

I really wish I understood freaking tumblr. I swear I fail at being a member of my generation.

RIP Queen of Antiva.

Yeah, I swear BW hires better VA each game; they make me believe the world I'm investing so much time into. That makes so happy ^_^

I have tried to get through Zevran's romance so many times but I just can't avoid Alistair...he gets her EVERY SINGLE TIME!  :P

It took real willpower to do, and I kept forgetting and having to just nope out of the rose convo over and over because I didn't want to say, "Ali, I'm just not that into you."

But Elinar got Zevran and hooked up Alistair with Anora. I plan on using that save with my next playthrough. I'll tack it onto my mage Hawke save.

i think they'd get some sort of.. allowance or something like that? like wardens do? nothing to write home about, but enough to support themselves and a family, since we've seen married templars and such.

Other way around, actually. Templars get a stipend, but it's so small that it's not enough to support a family. This is where the "Templars need permission to marry" rule comes from - they need permission because the Templar's prospective spouse must be able to support the family on her/his own. Aveline and Westley were likely allowed to marry because she was in the King's army, and could support them both + any family they might have one day.

Templars don't need to earn much money in any case, since they're not allowed to have personal possessions anyway (Cullen was breaking the rules with his lucky charm), and everything else (armor, weapons, lyrium, housing and food etc) is provided by the Chantry. Nothing much left to spend on.

On top of that, in Wesley and Aveline's case, they were in a pretty small area, so that particular chapter might have had a little more allowance and leeway.

I guess it's another way for the Chantry to "leash" the Templars so to speak, financial wise. :\ Besides the whole faith warriors thing going on.

Man, Keran's family must have been dirt poor then.

Yeah, I think so too. I think I also read that Templars are only allowed to marry if their spouse also has a job so the Templar isn't expected to be the sole breadwinner of the household. That, and Cullen says that the vows one takes as a Templar involve the promise to not seek wealth or glory. Since they're supposed to be driven by their faith and forsake all material possessions they probably don't get paid very much at all.

Edit: Oh oops, was  'd. wee

About Cullen's coin, who among you decide to keep it, who refuse & ask Cullen to keep the coin himself?

I'm having bad time deciding, since it gives me so much guilt to take away his only keepsake from his brother... The only thing that he own that comes from his life before. But it's also his way of saying now the inquisitor is part of his life, which says a lot.

I usually take it because she tells him she'll keep it safe, rather than actually agreeing to keep it permanently. Plus, I figured if they're planning on staying together long term then technically they're sharing it anyway... hell, if it makes him feel a little better about sending the Inquisitor head first into danger so often then I'm all for it!

It's a sweet gesture though, I guess it goes to show how much he likes her if he's willing to part with something he's kept for so long, that he (kinda) believes has bought him some luck to pass it onto her to keep her safe.

I told him to keep it, especially since it was a gift from a family member. It is a very sweet gesture.

I have done both and have really liked the outcome of both. It is a hard one to decide on.

I keep it. I think it would mean a great deal to him, knowing that she keeps it w/ her, especially when she must face dangers outside of Skyhold & he cannot be at her side. I think it would bring him comfort...and my Quizy wants that more than anything.  <3

I keep it because I know I'm going to be returning to him so it'll always be near him anyway. (◕‿◕✿)

He wants luck to be on your side, but he also shares with you the warm parts of himself that he managed to keep safe after all this time - the parts that you help coax out of him. In entrusting the coin to you, I feel like he also gives a part of himself to you because he feels safe with you, too. I thought it was a very symbolic and sweet gesture, metaphorically speaking.
