About Cullen's coin, who among you decide to keep it, who refuse & ask Cullen to keep the coin himself?

 

I keep the coin, for the reasons both Lola and Seph mentioned, but also as a promise - she'll keep it safe for now, and give it back when Coryphilis is defeated. It's her vow to him that she will return, if nothing else because she owes him his coin back.

 

I like to imagine that, after the prayer scene, she gives Cullen something to bind him to live and return to her at the end of all things, too. A hairpin, a brooch, the pendant she got from father as a child and has worn ever since, her favorite bootknife. Anything. Hold this for me for good luck, and give it back after the war. And you will survive the war and return to me safe and sound or so help me Maker, because I want my knife back.

 

She probably keeps his coin and he probably keeps her knife later anyway, it doesn't matter. What mattered was the promise behind it.

I have had this account for a year and am just now testing the waters. I literally have no idea how this works. Should I mention I'm in my 20s and fail at ya'know generational things.

for some reason, knowing that there's fic like this kinda makes me want to write my own "surana and cullen meet again during inquisition" fic, only he apologizes for what he said, she apologizes for not getting to the circle tower sooner, and in the end we found out that she and king alistair play wicked grace as a unit and still manage to be total crap at it.

I kept the coin because from what he said it seemed like he'd thought a lot about it and very much wanted her to have it. My mage Trevelyan would have had similarly few possessions and would have given him something similarly meaningful of hers. Probably some kind of family crest ring or necklace, since you have the option of saying the Trevelyans were supportive and in touch, and it would have been easier to take things she was already wearing than an Andraste statue or something when she fled the Annulments.

I wish we could ask him for more insight about the companions and advisors properly, it's hard to trigger him to reveal stuff like that.

 

Yeah I agree, I was hoping we could ask him more directly about things apart from pointing out the odd stuff he's been doing around Skyhold. I ended up standing in front of him and clicking him repeatedly just to see if he'd say something new, which was awkward, lmao. They probably made him convey his thoughts about the companions/advisors out of nowhere to play into the whole stream of consciousness aspect of his character. I guess that has its own charm, too.

 

With the whole coin thing - does anybody know if the "I don't need luck" response means that you keep the coin or he keeps it? I love his response...very smexy...

 

I wouldn't know since I never chose that option, but from reading your post I randomly remembered the sexy way he responds to you if you tell him your "friends keep you grounded" when he asks you how you're holding up after you support his decision to go off lyrium. He laughs about how you keep the strangest sort of company in the cheekiest way, LOL. Don't deny you love my companions too, Cully.

It's a nice story, but it doesn't sound like Cullen to me either. Just because someone writes it, and even writes a decent story, doesn't mean it makes any logical sense for the character we actually meet.

Guess the Cullen messenger banter wasn't completely done just yet. I've been reloading the saves I made to see if anything new popped up, and while the banter is mostly repeating itself on reloads (the Josephine asking about Cullen's birthday one keeps firing a lot), I did get a couple of small new ones:

You have no idea how much I am laughing right now! Surprisingly, that fic didn't make me dislike their Surana but definitely made me dislike Cullen in it. Why did I read it?!

It was Cole and Varric talking about cards, and which cards beat what in Wicked Grace. Cole inadvertently goes into Varric's mind and gives an image of a woman slipping an Ace of Dragons into a thigh high boot (Isabela) and a blonde man that's always angry frowning down at his cards. (Anders)

LOL SORRY! I saw it this morning and it pulled at my heartstrings so I needed to vent my rage! 

 

Seriously though, I complimented the author on it being well-written...it just seems a bit OOC for me. Apparently you guys feel the same too.
