When morrigan talks to oyu about this andh ow he sees you as a rival she will ask you outright do oyu want to become a god, if you say no she'll tell you then to tell that to Corynipples which you can do and ALix says it in such grand fashion

I guess cos she has the power to break into the black city if she wanted to, or get people to worship her like a god simply due to all the crazy stuff she's accomplished etc. Kinda like how Corypheus only managed to gain such a following because they thought he already was a god of sorts.

That the Inquisitor survives no matter what, I'm hopping that is because they are building this to an expansion that deals with Solas and the ending there will be more varied on a personal level. DAI did a fantastic job in terms of how the game can end for Southern Thedas, but I felt the Inquisitor ALWAYS  surviving and staying in that role was little eh. Not liek I want to see Cullen seeing his love die but more for option sake.

I wondered if we had no option/possibility to die because we're able to continue playing post-game this time. Or maybe it's because they ran out of time to implement it? Hard to say. That sort of thing makes me worry now, since the last DA protagonist that couldn't die was Hawke, and then we got that awful choice in the Abyss quest if you'd kept Alistair as a Grey Warden.

I'm wondering, since someone asked about the choice templar/mages, what are your thoughts on that one? *despite the fact that you get the extra Cullen goodness with mages*

I'm always going with

Since we don't know exactly what happened with the templars, they just vanished and barricaded themselves in somewhere and don't talk to anyone and such, on the other side you have the mages who are suddenly ruled by some seemingly evil magister from Tevinter with a hidden agenda and time-bending-magic to boot.... yeah, seems to me the mages need quizzies help a bit more. Even though I enjoy/like the templar one more (and the templars need your help as much as the mages do, but when playing for the first time, with no background knowledge, I'd think mages is the way to go for someone who is trying to sort out their mess. On the other side... The breach in the sky is here, right now. Try to sort out the mess the mages have put themselves in or go to the templars and talk to their leader to let them help with it. Again, without further knowledge the templars seem to be the easier way to get support for that.

I've started playing ME....

got the game ages ago and didn't really get into it. Maybe cause I couldn't really relate to fem!Shep, same as with Hawke (always male for me)

So I started playing it again as m!Shep and I really got into it somehow, now.... I really like nearly all the companions *Ashley isn't my type, rubs me the wrong way somehow o_O*

Since I've seen people posting about their fav romances.... what would the best one be for my male Shepard?^^ I know, the game isn't all about romance, but since It's been sitting in my library for quite some time without me ever playing it, and now that I actually got into it somehow I just want the best experience there is. With the best romance there is^^ *Ashley and Liara already made puppy eyes at him, not that I blame them Garrus, I suppose, is out of the question? Kaidan too? Cause straight and stuff? :/ I don't know   *needed some space from DA:I.... Solasmance is giving me the sad feels *

 

Anyways, sorry for being a little OT here, hope Cullen pic helps atone my sin

@LolaLei that sounds like a bug/glitch to me. That's got to be annoying. In DA:O did you harden Lei or soften her? Not sure if that has any bearing.

To change the topic slightly regarding the Inquisitor:

Did anyone else get a sense of foreboding when Dorian said that in all the best stories the hero dies... I swear, if I have to sacrifice my Inquisitor and/or another past protagonist I'm not going to be best pleased.

 

Also, with so much talk in-game of how the Inquisitor could easily be a god with all his/her powers did you guys get the impression that perhaps in future post-game expansions we may have to sacrifice him/her to godhood for some reason or another? Like ascend or seemingly ascend to prevent something bad happening? Especially considering the power that was in Solas' orb is now part of the Inquisitor, we may be forced into doing something for the greater good or whatever.

 

I thought this was more related to cut content / scrapped ideas about the ending. Because Varric has a super ominous line about writing enough tragic heroes to know where this is going in one of their first conversations but nothing ever comes out of it, then Vivienne has this whole grand speech that is obviously about how the Inquisitor is going to end up becoming Divine, which also never happens, then Cole has lines about your possible tragic fate, then Iron Bull, then Sera, then Dorian, etc etc. There's a ton of foreshadowing laid out throughout the game that just never goes anywhere, and to me it has to be alluding to material that was left on the cutting room floor, otherwise those lines wouldn't even have been written.

That's a good point! I didn't get the ones you mentioned from Cole or IB so that's likely my game being glitchy again. Could well be that we were supposed to have the possibility of dying then? I mean, we know there was stuff cut from the final battle as it is because audio was found of it.

Heh, I'd like to have that much faith that they carefully planned out all that foreshadowing with DLC in mind, but considering how disjointed and dispassionate the writing was in this game, and then everything else that was announced and then cut out, I'm not holding my breath for all the loose ends to neatly tie up over time. For now, it just seems like it was left there and forgotten about, and nothing will come out of any of that in the end.

Really? The only scene I really got with Vivienne like that was where she was like:

Viv: 'The next Divine should be totally awesome and pretty and perfect and bald and have great taste in Maleficent hats. I guess Cassandra is an alright choice....I suppose...'

Me: 'Hey, here's a crazy idea, what if you were Divine?!'

Viv: 'Srsly? Lol, thought never crossed my mind.'

Becoming Divine was cut content due to it being lorebreaking, saw an article on it the other day somewhere along with concept art. As for dying horribly, who knows?

 

I honestly believe that becoming the next Divine was 100% the intended ending of the game while it was being written only for human Inquisitors, and then it got scrapped when they added the other races. Because everyone, and I mean everyone, from Giselle to Vivienne to Leliana to Cassandra and even Cullen and Morrigan, throws these big plot anvils at your face indicating that you're the only one good enough to fill the Divine's role, and then that possibility never even comes up.

 

I guess it would have been world-breaking, though still provocative enough to be right up BW's alley, to have a male or a mage Inquisitor become Divine, but when the possibility that an elf, dwarf or qunari could become Divine of the Andrastian Chantry came up, it just pushed the established lore too far that it had to go.

Eh I'll give you pacing and focus was bad but the main quests themselves where written well and so where the characters, things where clearly cut and Bioware has even acknowledged that. The epilogue it self clearly shows there are plans.
