Getting KotOR and KotOR 2 to run on Win 7 (don't know about Win 8) is a bit of a pain but it is doable. Should know I've got both to run 
From memory you've got to add a line to the games ini file and it solves a lot of problems.
The 'stache is OK, I guess, but what did they do to his face? All the lines and the scruffy beard are gone, completely wiping out all the character his face had. Just, why would someone want to erase all that, everything he's been through?

Never was one to like mustaches...except for Dorian's. His is fantastic...I named it Stephen...

They were really bad during the scene at haven where he was supposed to wear his helmet.During my first playthrough,I got that weird bug with his eyes and he looked like he's seen some serious ****,all that while giving encouraging speeches.Lol, can't say I'm keen. I'll keep him as he is, though if someone wants to fix those weird black shadows that happen under his eyelids then that would be great!

The key is likely depicting Solas' orb that contained the anchor (if the stain glass is indeed depicting those theories), which is now attached to our Inquisitor's hand. Makes you wonder if whatever Solas is planning will come into play in DLC/Expansions. You'd think something that big lore wise would requiring the very man/woman with the "key" physically attached to him/her to be a big part in that... unless Solas can find/make another orb.
Dorian mentions that there are depictions of Magisters using these orbs for millennia, and they were called "somnoborium", Vessels of Dreams. However, I do not believe that those mages had the capacity to unlock them as Corypheus could. So in that sense, Solas could very well find another Vessel to make use of.

Well, to be honest, I prefer the tickle of a fuller, softer beard myself, especially in sensitive spots, but stubble has it's place

That seems rather strange. I've never had that problem. I've got 21 inch screen and KotOR looks perfectly fine running at 1024 x 768. Even running at it's default 800 x 600 it looks ok.
The comp you game on do you have admin rights? I know KotOR is picky about that.
