Indeed. Occam's razor points against it. Then again... Word of God said that Dragon Age would never feature real gods walking the earth and answering questions about their existence.  :?

Well...I think the Maker is the one God that they'll keep quiet and mysterious (which I kinda like), cause they've already dropped the ball on the elven pantheon.

Fair enough. I still play NWN, BG and IWD and they are really showing their age. Graphics isn't something i get hung up about. Story and gameplay are far more important than the bells and whistles :)

Oh I agree...to a certain extent. Games like any Elder Scrolls title are so heavy on "shinies" that I really can't play them unless they are up to my stupid graphics standards. Skyrim is so utterly beautiful with about 75 graphics and immersion mods! I was really excited for the "Skywind" mod for Morrowind, but I think that kinda died.

Games that are very heavy on story, like Final Fantasy titles, never lose their luster. In fact, I bought FFVII not too long ago on Steam. Boy was that nice to fire up and play on my pc! I will do the same with FFVIII. I also recently repurchased FFIX for PS1 on Amazon...I loved that game so much. Too bad those games look absolutely horrid on HDTV's and there's really nothing to do but live with it.

Bioware games I will go back to a point. I would have no problems playing ME:1 again (but why would I with the wonderful save import website and tool!). I did manage to play NWN:2 and the expansions, but I don't think I could get through them again. The graphics were pretty bad. That and I could never grasp D&D rules...my b/f used to play and has tried to explain to me how the rolls work...and my brain goes NOPE!  :P

I like the weathering on Cullen's face. I mean, I'm not complaining that Cullen's been made uber handsome in Inquisition (that is a fine face you have there, Cully), but it's a big enough change from his Origins appearance as is and I don't think he needs to look any younger. I'm having quite a lot of fun sculpting his features while arting him, too :P

Does anyone have plans to release a mod that adds a little bit more facial hair to his face, out of curiosity? Not a full on beard or Dorian!stache or anything, just a bit more scruffiness that's reminiscent of his Origins' 5 o'clock shadow since it was more prominent back then. Would be interesting to see a throwback to those days. It's been really interesting comparing shots of Cullen's evolution throughout the games and seeing that, outside of differences in complexion and hairiness, his face's overall shape has stayed pretty constant.

I surely hope so. I don't mind the notion of the elven gods just being immortal elven dudes. Plus... no one ever claimed they were Creators anyway. So, I sure hope the Maker is still The One God or whatever. I still wonder how, erm, corporeal the Maker may have been during his interludes with Andraste. Ahem.

But. But. Bah. This has been my issue with the Fade all along. No one can go there ... it's HARD. And yet our PC has been there every game, and in every book. Bah.

I think there was speculation in some fanfics about that heresy :P

Not really. Being thrown in the Fade mentally isn't that out of the ordinary. We only went in mentally during DAO and DA2.

Only in DAI are we thrown into the Fade physically 3x.

In my head Cullen is around 33-34ish so I really like the bit of "weathering" they added to his face for this game. Me thinks they shouldn't change anything! However, I wouldn't mind seeing a shot with a bit more "scruff..." just not total "mountain man."  :D

Yeah going into the fade mentetly(forced or a ritual) is not strange, it's in DAI that the Inquisitor has done something that has not been done since Corynutballs which is why many characters point outt he connection between you and him(and possiblew fear you might follow his footsteps)

Oh my goodness, you guys move too fast XD Happy holidays to you all!

To change the topic slightly regarding the Inquisitor:

Spoiler

I was disappointed at this dreadful foreshadowing becoming a bluff, too. I really thought the Inquisitor would die or at least have the option to make a heroic sacrifice. I kind of wanted my Inquisitor to die....   I was getting a nostalgic Baldur's Gate vibe in the last boss fight for some reason with all this "god" talk.

I know BW plans on doing DLC, and I think they are holding out on us, clearly. I am really expecting a story-heavy DLC now.... if they keep dishing out MP DLC, one point I'm gonna just move on.

Wait, so are you guys saying the elven gods have been proven not to be gods, and the only "real" deity left is the Maker? Cause if so that makes me really annoyed and uncomfortable...

As of now, the elven pantheon appear to be basically super-charged elves with magic on an entirely different level. That said, I think the term of deity or god is still certainly applicable. Simply because they can walk among us doesn't make them any less powerful.

As for the Maker, Gaider simply said that they will most likely keep that one mysterious, which I think is a good plan. That doesn't mean anything about which deity is more "real".

In my opinion, what can be considered gods is an entirely subjective thing. From what I feel, most of the gods are simply spirits or elves with abilities beyond what most mortals could ever achieve.

And to be more precise, each one seems to be powerful in a certain type of rare magic.

Fade manipulation and shape shifting is rare magic, but trained mages CAN  do it, Solas and Flemeth however take it to a whole new level.

But the Dalish Elves still have the fact...

The Maker's existence is best unconfirmed, and easily doubted.

Hey guys I just recently got an error code from my PS4 when I was trying to upload some screenies. It said I could not connect to the server and I did all the suggested actions so could someone try to upload a screenshot to Twitter or somewhere and see if you get an error code as well. Dragon Age's servers also weirded out around the same time for me and this all began about two hours ago.

That part there means they are even stronger than others actually if we go by mythologic knowledge from our world. People believed only the strongest of gods/deities were able to physically interact with mortals...so I believe this could be applied to this situation.

I've never been able to get into the FF series for some reason. The only one I ever played was FF-X when I had a PS2. Never did finishe it. I utterly loathe playing pre defined charcters. One reason that I could never get into Planescape: Torment.

I suppose you could say that about Bioware's games of recent years and yes to a point you are but you still have a lot of controle over said charcter. More so tna the FF games anyway.

Off to watch Mythbusters :D Then play DA:I for the rest of the evening as there's nothing much on TV otherise.

I don't think that's true necessarily. Because even though the Maker does not necessarily walk in this world, that does not mean he cannot choose to do so. So in that regard, I don't take walking among mortals as any indication of a power level.

Thanks Elu and Artifice, good explanations :) The Andraste-As-Christ-Figure already made me uneasy; I've never been a fan of the religious milieu the writers created, i.e. the "main" human religion, the Chantry, etc. Probably why I clung to the elven pantheon and have also been intrigued by "the old gods" and what that meant.

In the grand scheme of things, I think all of the known pantheons are real in some form or fashion. That said, I do think the Maker, whatever that is, was the driving force of creation in this dimension, and then all the other pantheons spawned as sentient species came about and began to worship beings.

It could be that these gods first coalesced from the beliefs of their followers, existing as embodiments of their specific virtues.
