Didn't she originally voice Krem? Caroline had that tweet about her with the hashtag "horns up," which is the Chargers' war cry in Bull's personal quest, and the tweet mysteriously disappeared after Jennifer Hale tweeted about recording for DAI. They might've had schedule problems with Christie and re-cast Jennifer as Krem.

Could be. Altho, horns up could also be a qunari ref. Hmm. I don't think we ever heard anything one way or the other. Jennifer Hale did a smashing job. Ironically... she sounds a bit like Brienne of Tarth, so could have been a scheduling thing.

DA team just can't do women's breasts. At least women in ME look like they're wearing proper bras  Nothing against braless folks! But apparently everyone in Thedas goes braless...

OT but I downloaded a mod that allows me to have up to 5 followers in Skyrim. Normal people would recruit a bunch of badass warriors and mages. Not me. I recruit only dogs. Am now running around Skyrim with an awesome pack of dogs; we just demolish everything in our wake. And it is awesome.

:P

Because there is no supply of decent bras after the rifts appeared and all the Victoria's Secret shops got destroyed.

So, the last ounce of my creativity for today, before I start to feel sorry for myself for still being sick after four days. grr.

I'll be straightforward, since this is so puzzling to me: Why so many elves wish to date Cullen?

I must've read around 4 fanfics by now where the Inquisitor is always an elven woman who falls in love with the Commander.

Why this elf/Cullen equation? What is this thing? Is there an exotic element in this union that I'm missing?

Some dominant/submissive subtle thing going on between Quizzie and Cullen? Like the Quizzie being all misunderstood by everyone around her, like a teenager, perhaps, and then finding comfort in the arms of the Commander? Is that is?

Why so few Human Inquisitors pining for our Commander? I just assume humans would relate better to one another.

(Except maybe elven mages; those live within human society since childhood, but you guys get my drift.)

I think it is just due to most people playing as a non human charecter, cauz it's just more fun that way, I already get enough of being uman from real life.

And the only non human class that can romance Cullen are elves, so that is why it is the way it is.

I am playing as a Dalish elven mage and am romancing Cullen, so I guess I fit the stereotype.

Question: does anyone know when exactly Cullen got transferred to Kirkwall? If I'm not mistaken, he's already Knight Captain at Act 1 no? And when did Samson got kicked out from Templar Order? If I'm not mistaken Cullen & Samson shared room together for a time. Am I right?

I'm having another idea for another fanfic (none got finished...) about this... Zero romance/love story type of fanfic anyway

Umm, why not, if you're going on personality rather than appearance? Should female elves be limited to Solas and Sera, qunari to Iron Bull, and dwarves I guess would just be up a creek? Honestly, I don't even think it's nearly as common as human-Cullen romances; from the screenshots in this thread, I wasn't sure anyone was romancing Cullen with an elf at all for a while. Why shouldn't people want to play both the race they like best and still want the best LI for themselves? Why would this imply some sort of submissive/dominant relationship, especially since Cullen is incredibly respectful of Dalish inquisitors, is used to thinking of them as equals to humans from the circles, and a Dalish is not going to think of herself as inferior in some way? Myself, yes, I'll be romancing him with an elf, possibly a rogue. Why? Because I don't play fantasy RPGs to play a human, there are too many other games for that, and since your background is pretty irrelevant, I may never play a human in DAI at all. If I'd had the choice, I'd romance him with a dwarf warrior, I think it would have been a blast.

And also in DAO we can see that Cullen clearly has a thing for mages :)

Hmm, googling around, seems Christie is not in the credits, suggesting her part may have been cut.

Yes, as 9:31 in Act 1, Cullen is already KC (so presumably only months or less after he arrived) and Act 1 is also when we meet ex-templar Samson. I still haven't done the Samson quest, so I don't know about rooming.

According to Cullen they roomed together when he first arrived in Kirkwall.

He is really pissed about Samson lol

I didn't pay attention to most of Inquisition's development so I missed a lot. This would have been great though. I can absolutely see her in that role, or in various others, for that matter.

Cullen is still in Ferelden at the time of the Battle of Denerim, which is more less six months after Hawke arrives in Kirkwall. Hawke only meets him once their year in servitude is up, though, so if we assume Cullen was immediately transferred to Kirkwall after the archdemon was defeated, and place the first time Hawke meets him immediately at the beginning of Act 1, that gives Cullen about six-eight months in Kirkwall before they first meet Hawke. You can make it even longer by pushing the start of Hawke's involvement with the Order to very late in Act 1.

He did get promoted to Knight-Captain soon after he got to Kirkwall, yes. One possible scenario (what I'm using in my own fic anyway) is that Cullen and Samson roomed together in the first few months he was in Kirkwall, up until Samson was kicked out, and soon after Cullen got his promotion. Another is that Cullen might even have already been promoted by the time Samson left, he just didn't have his own room yet because the acommodations in the Gallows were precarious and there wasn't enough room for individual quarters until the one he shared with Samson was vacated one less bed. We don't know much about that either way, so it's all up to interpretation.

Fic or headcanon? Just so I know to look out for it if it's fic. ;)

Fic, actually. I finally got to a point where, looking at my little notebook of headcanons and fill-in notes, it frustrated me enough that there is so much missing in the game's narration (between Cullen's rationales, motivations, etc; the Inquisitor's perception of events around her; and the progression of the romance between "hi" and "let's kiss") that I might as well take all these notes and put them to a coherent story form. ~~it's coming~~ *scary Twilight Zone theme playing in the background* :P

Well when you think about it - if you were a bit chesty and lived in a time when there were no "over the should boulder holders," what could you do? A breastband wouldn't hang 'em high, that's for sure!

I dunno man, I am chesty and I often forget to put mine on and they still aren't as low as that, LOL!

I can't speak for some of the other details, but my thinking in Before the Dawn was that when Cullen arrived in Kirkwall, he was quartered with Samson for about a month or so ('quarters' meaning a room that was part of the larger templar barracks). Knight-Commander Meredith thought that being around a more senior and experienced templar might help settle Cullen down after what happened in Ferelden. It wasn't long after that Samson's letter-smuggling came to light, and his lyrium addiction couldn't be ignored / covered up any longer; so he was kicked out and Cullen placed elsewhere.

So, yes. Not Meredith's best idea, but that's not exactly a high bar. :)

Maybe she voiced a DLC/expansion character? And that's why she isn't listed yet?

Oooh, you wrote that questline? That's awesome!

In the Witch Hunt DLC in DAO the two gossiping mages said Cullen was sent to Greenfell to sort his head out, is that still canon? Or was he sent directly to Kirkwall?

Ooooh I love that! That's actually a lot of detail/nuance we didn't know, this actually helps lay out some of Cullen's personal growth that I couldn't quite place. Thanks for chipping in, Jo! ^_^

Speaking about Kirkwall and Meredith, I always wondered if Malcolm's escape from Kirkwall had anything to do with Meredith.

The letters we discover from Malcolm state that he had nurtured a friendship with a templar and that said templar helped him escape after hearing news about the Order becoming more tyrannical.

He made his friend an apostate to avoid him suffering under this new regime.

Was Meredith appointed Knight-Commander by then? She does seem a bit old, like she's in her 50s, thus my speculation on the subject.

The letters are discovered in Carter's personal quest, I think. I don't precisely recall.

Thanks so much for clarifying! Was he already promoted to Knight-Captain when he was rooming with Samson? I always hoped he'd get at least some kind of perk for the promotion, like a private room. ^_^

Meredith was appointed Knight-Commander back in 9:21 when she overthrew the then-viscount Perrin Threnhold.

edited to add: Malcolm split Kirkwall just before Hawke was born, so ~25 years before 9:30. So, it was another KC when he left.
