Meredith was appointed Knight-Commander back in 9:21 when she overthrew the then-viscount Perrin Threnhold.

edited to add: Malcolm split Kirkwall just before Hawke was born, so ~25 years before 9:30. So, it was another KC when he left.

Thanks so much, R2sMuse!  ^_^

Wait...she overthrew the viscount?

Dear god, was she already tyrannical, even before the lyrium idol thing?  :o

No, no, she was the hero. Perrin Threnhold decided to throw the templars out of Kirkwall, and she stopped him. It's the Kirkwall uprising that was referenced (ahem, conveniently) in Dawn of the Seeker.

Hm, I think I'm beginning to understand what led to Malcolm's escape now...

I'll go watch the animation. I need to get my facts straight.  I had no idea it involved the templars uprising in Kirkwall.

Thanks for the reference!  ^_^

To be clear, it doesn't. It's just a passing mention. But folks often confuse the Kirkwall reference with what Anders did in Kirkwall 16 years later. There was a lot of confusion when the movie came out about when it was set. Many thought it was after DA2, but instead it's set in 9:22. The one sentence about Kirkwall was the source of a lot of speculation.

The movie itself is about Cassandra's early years and some plotting within the Chantry ranks with the previous Divine. I personally liked it, although most opinions are all over the map.

Even with our beloved Cassie being all young and having free, long, lustrous black hair, people get to confuse the date?

Oh well.

Thanks for the warning.  I guess it's inevitable for us fans to associate any disaster in Kirkwall with the terrorist attack on the Chantry.

There are many other good reasons for the confusion... not the least of which is that, I think at one point it may have actually been *intended* to be set after DA2 and was retconned part-way through production. But that's a conspiracy theory for another day once you've actually seen it.

Didn't she originally voice Krem? Caroline had that tweet about her with the hashtag "horns up," which is the Chargers' war cry in Bull's personal quest, and the tweet mysteriously disappeared after Jennifer Hale tweeted about recording for DAI. They might've had schedule problems with Christie and re-cast Jennifer as Krem.

Jennifer Hale was Krem??? OMG! Awesome...

I dunno man, I am chesty and I often forget to put mine on and they still aren't as low as that, LOL!

Perhaps the planet that Dragon Age takes place on has a stronger gravitational pull...

I love Jennifer Hale, I was actually thinking to myself "I wonder if she is in this game" cauz she is in like every other game, lol.

That also explains why Krem sounds like a woman, that was the first thing I thought when I heard him talk.

I can't speak for some of the other details, but my thinking in Before the Dawn was that when Cullen arrived in Kirkwall, he was quartered with Samson for about a month or so ('quarters' meaning a room that was part of the larger templar barracks). Knight-Commander Meredith thought that being around a more senior and experienced templar might help settle Cullen down after what happened in Ferelden. It wasn't long after that Samson's letter-smuggling came to light, and his lyrium addiction couldn't be ignored / covered up any longer; so he was kicked out and Cullen placed elsewhere.

So, yes. Not Meredith's best idea, but that's not exactly a high bar. :)

Thank you so much for the clarification!

Me too, I'd love to see a DLC about this. Or seeing this in DA4 at least...

Spoiler

Agree. I'm thinking the big WTF moment at the end has expansion written all over it.

As for Solas...

Spoiler

The voice sounded really familiar to me at first. Though I was on the fence if the voice was a still deepening male voice or female. Krem threw me a bit, because I could've easily believed it was just a younger guy with a higher ranged voice had I not stumbled across the articles about Krem. BW did an excellent job!i

Once I found out it was Hale it did remind a bit of femshep

I have to agree, I can't think of much they've done that screams for expansion more.

So I am in the beggining stages  of romancing Cullen right now, playing as an Elvem Mage (in my avatar). So far I really like how it is playing out, I am not super far in so I am only at the point of their first kiss. I loved the Alistair romance in DAO and then in DA2 I kind of got let down by the romances, Fenris was ok, but at first I chose Anders and it was sweet and all, but the end there kind of runied it a little, still liked it, but just not as great as Alisair's. I like the sweet lovey dovey romances, or at least ones that end all good and "happily ever after" lol :) So I am hoping the Cullen romance will not let me down.

Believe me, I've done my research. :P

We have the benefit of wonderful bras, so gravity doesn't have as much effect on us, vs someone who never had a great "over the shoulder boulder holder." However, I'm quite sure Bioware didn't have this in mind...they just put the boobies too low.

Rival-mance with Fenris as a mage can be quite rewarding...  :D

Uh, guys:

The next DLC may probably center around Qunari and The Arishok.

Friend-mance or Rival-mance Fenris with a mage is very rewarding :D

Hehehe... I'm hoping something similar to DA:O's Witch Hunt. I mean, that was satisfying.

Uh, guys:

Wait wait wait, Arishok or Arishock???

EDIT: wait wait, don't we get to see DA:O's Sten as Arishok if you find his sword on IB's personal quest??? I had never met him since I always choose the other option.... can anyone please confirm this?

Concerning the so-called DLC, I'm inclined to agree with the doggy below:

And if Sten is indeed the new Arishok, I hope we can at least flirt with him this time.

Grr...I still can't find a Romance Sten mod. This is so frustrating...

Uh, guys:
<arishok stuff>

Bit of a stretch, though, isn't it? To assume it will "probably center" on qunari stuff because there's an arishok texture in the files? Maybe the Stenishok will just show up and say hi. I get that people are eager to jump to conclusions about DLCs, but sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. :P
