Agreed. Just chiming in...

 

I write scientific research papers and have taught a class on it.  I have no problem with criticism of any kind, because every single paper I've written or been an author on (8 so far) means i have to sit through at least  one meeting per paper where a group extremely smart and passionate people, including my adviser, rip me to shreds for my writing.  It is necessary in my field.  On top of that, 3 anonymous reviewers rip you to shreds for every little thing. I have also reviewed over a dozen research papers myself and countless papers form labmates. And i am known for being a little brutal (becuase I have high standards).

 

Point is, I do take my writing and other people's writing very seriously.  It is my job!

 

That being said, I will encourage every single human being who wants to express themselves creatively.  I have high standards for what I personally love and enjoy. But I have a huge heart for people brave enough to share their creative works, regardless of where they lie on a spectrum. Thus, I ONLY offer criticism when they ask for it and I can give it to them directly. Even still, I am a LOT more forgiving of fanfics, because I read them for fun.  And happy is my default state.  

 

This world, this game, inspires so many people in so many different ways.  And I love seeing where that takes people.  I love seeing where their minds go and what they latch onto.  It is exhilarating to see, regardless of quality.

I see some inconsistencies here... There is a difference between honest criticism for the benefit of producing better work and just being snarky because you're amused by someone's fetish or lifestyle or whateverthehell. 

 

This thread has strived to be positive and supporting to it's members, regardless of persuasion, etc. Swooping in to be icky because someone is trying to keep things "mod-friendly" helps no one. Let's be cool, kids. 

 

Apparently this is news, but posting things on the internet is asking for criticism, wanted or not. In addition, people who write kmeme do so knowing that their audience is limited but they also don't care. They like their fetish so they write about it. I have a friend who writes a lot of Kirk/Pike slash fic and she knows I think it's weird, but we still manage to be friends and actually hang out in person. Commenting on the subject of the earlier referenced fic falls under the "this is a ridiculous topic" critique. Neither is inconsistent. I doubt the writer gives a damn what I think about his/her fic. In fact, I find it oddly amusing that so many people are offended on behalf of someone else.

Have you gone through Dorian's romance arc yet? Was is good? I'm seriously trying to avoid too many details because I want to run through all of them at least once. (Except for Sera... she does nothing for me.  )

There was that time a reader PMed me to tell me she had printed out my multichapter fic so she could read it to work on the subway every day. (This was before tablets of course.) Talk about a shot of joy and happiness and gratitude straight to the heart

Yep, I don't have any idea what the trigger is, but I just kept saying hi to him in the tavern until I got it. I think the full line is, "Safe and solid, protecting and proud. He feels like quiet, stronger when you hold him." It's pretty sweet.

I just have to convince myself that I actually WANT to play this game a second time. *sighs* Not that I don't love it or think it's beautiful, but I don't know if I can handle another round of stomping through such-and-such plains/desert/oasis hunting for pelts and closing rifts and establishing camps.

 I am working on Dorian for my next playthrough as well!  I have done Cullen (of course...twice...).  Cassandra's was AMAZING!  My quizzie was a sweetie who liked to pick on her alot and it was so well done!  Did half of Solas, then just watched the rest on you tube.  Working on Blackwall now. iron Bull will have to wait till I am feeling brave

I was messing around on my Mage today and I noticed something I hadn't noticed before. Apparently the codex for Cullen was periodically updated after it was originally opened up. Near the bottom there was a letter from Cullen's sister Mia asking questions about my Inquis, and then a reply from Cullen telling her to stop prying and he'd tell her more when there was time. It was pretty nifty
