DORIAN. DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT.I'll be honest... I skipped a lot of the in between business on my first run because Cullen. Then Bull was my second run and I completed more of the side things. Now I'm deciding whether I want to see how Solas's deal runs or go for Dorian. Frankly, I'm not interested in Solas other than *spoiler reasons* and Dorian is a flippin' hoot. I take him everywhere. *cough*even though the ambient dialog doesn't trigger often enough*cough*

Ya, I read that Cullen shuts you down cold if you've flirted with anyone else. What a fickle boy.
Really? I flirt with Cassandra and Sera and nothing seems...is it because they're women?

Does he? I thought it was only a problem if you actually entered a romance with someone. I'm almost certain people have said they are able to keep flirting with Dorian with no problem, at least? ![]()

Flirting with him will work, but you won't be able to get to the relationship/kiss stage. Which is...pretty understandable, actually ![]()

Yep, I don't have any idea what the trigger is, but I just kept saying hi to him in the tavern until I got it. I think the full line is, "Safe and solid, protecting and proud. He feels like quiet, stronger when you hold him." It's pretty sweet.
If I'm not mistaken, you get the first one "He feels like quiet. Stronger when you hold him." after starting the romance, and then the "Safe and Solid" stuff after that special night ![]()

DORIAN. DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT.
I started a male then realized in Haven that I made him a mage and said "no, this won't do!" because I don't normally like 2 mages in my party unless there's a dragon to kill. I am compelled to take my LI along whenever I can.
Thanks for the input. Time to make me a man! Woot! *runs off singing Rocky Horror*

Have you gone through Dorian's romance arc yet? Was is good? I'm seriously trying to avoid too many details because I want to run through all of them at least once. (Except for Sera... she does nothing for me.
)
Greetings, all! ![]()
Just thought I'd take a break from DAI (really - been playing it every day since launch!) and wanted to catch up on this thread...and boy howdy, there was a lot of catching up to do!! ![]()
Meanie, Dorian's romance arc was my first for my rogue Inquisitor. I thought it was handled very well -- I think you'll enjoy it. ![]()
Kinda ironic that we've pretty much changed places - your first romance was Cullen and your second looks to be Dorian. My first was Dorian and I'm currently playing a (shocker!) female mage for Cullen. Given that comparison I just gotta say you ladies got the best romantic arc in the game with Cullen -- they really knocked it out of the park on his story! ![]()

I loved the one he did for Dorian.

I think maybe what matters is if you get to the point where you choose an action that says "start a romance with..." , before that if you flirt with people I don't think that counts, because I have chosen some of the early on flirt options for people and it didn't change anything with being able to romance Cullen. And if you do start a romance with someone else, I think you can break up and then romance Cullen.

Maybe? I'm just going on what I read somewhere. Perhaps it's just cuz it's the wrong plumbing so it's not a direct conflict for him?

I'm doing Dorian's arc right now on my 2nd playthrough and I'm really enjoying it. I think it's been said that Cullen's arc does seem to have the most content overall but it's still been awesome.

First romance was Cullen. I'm on the fence about that actually. Then Bull, which I enjoyed very much. I very rarely roll a male char (sorry but I feel klunky as a male) but Dorian is just too adorable to pass up!

I have to agree with this. Some of the others are pretty cool, but none of them have the same sort of sweetness to them imo. Of course it's totally possible I am just biased ![]()

I think, could be mistaken, but there is a circumstance where even if you break-up with the other person Cullen still won't start with you. I vaguely recall something about that but I'm not sure.

I usually feel clunky as a male too, but the Cassandra romance is so sweet and cute. I felt like I got to create the kinda guy I would want to romance me, so it worked brilliantly. so sweet!

^ bingo. You can flirt up a storm with anyone you want, and Cullen won't even flinch. If you're only flirting, you can still carry on your Cullen romance as usual. What Cullen does object to is you flirting with him when you're already in a relationship with someone else. A real relationship, after you've clicked the "enter a relationship with this character" button. You have to make that choice, it's impossible to be ninjamanced in this game.
If you've already agreed to date someone else, Cullen will politely remind you that you're already taken if you try to flirt with him. Under these circumstances, you have to break off your relationship first if you want to go for Cullen (and that's if you haven't exausted all your chances for flirty cues). But until you really start a serious relationship, flirting around won't stop your Cullen romance from progressing.

Yeah, I've heard others get stuck without being able to romance Cullen after taking the last minute exit with one of the other romances. BW, I think.
I've been told to skip the outside flirting once you get to Skyhold. Just in case. But I'm not sure what's 100%.

I would really like to skip all that mess but unfortunately I'm pretty bad at this game
I need to be at the recommended level or above to start each next mission or else I die. I had to fight the duchess like five times before I could manage to kill her, and that was at the recommended level AND on casual.
That is why I'm desperately waiting for a simple mod that will let me increase my level so I can play through the game basically on "story mode."

LOL! My sentiments exactly! This is the first female character I've ever rolled up not just for DAI, but for any video game (just had to get that Cully-Wully lovin'). Honestly, I should have created and uploaded a video of me at the DAI character creator trying to apply makeup on my Inquisitor - so many people would have laughed their butts off they'd forget about their problems and we'd have world peace. ![]()

When does Cole say this stuff? I never got a peep out of him. But I'm also the person who got about five banters in the entire game, so... and not a soul commented on my romance.

Most of the lines people reference are stuff he says when you initiate conversation with him at Skyhold. Every time you click on him, he answers with a non-sequitor.

Had you tried to talk to Cole often? He always give cryptic message about some companion/advisor/events as his first sentence. When he runs out of things to say he'll just say "I'm here" or things like that.
Cole has tons of comments after each companion/advisor personal mission
