Most of the lines people reference are stuff he says when you initiate conversation with him at Skyhold. Every time you click on him, he answers with a non-sequitor.

Yeah, I've heard others get stuck without being able to romance Cullen after taking the last minute exit with one of the other romances. BW, I think. 

 

I've been told to skip the outside flirting once you get to Skyhold. Just in case. But I'm not sure what's 100%. 

I have tried Solas and although I never got the start a romance with Solas, Cullen will decline, you can flirt but you can't start a romance with him. BW is harder to even break up with as there is only a couple of times you can actually do that. It doesn't come up in dialogue. So if you want to romance Cullen you have to wait a while.

Had you tried to talk to Cole often? He always give cryptic message about some companion/advisor/events as his first sentence. When he runs out of things to say he'll just say "I'm here" or things like that.

 

Yes!! That's what I would get. The "I'm here" thing. Or whatever it's supposed to be. I never got any funny comments from him.

Well, thanks to a bottle of sangria (and a whole lot of free time thanks to a long weekend), I was able to not embarrass myself or my Inquisitor, Astrid Trevelyan:

I absolutely love my non romantic romance with Dorian and my femquistor. It's adorable. Dorian has really surprised me, I didn't think I'd like him but I can't be without him now.

It's funny, Dorian and Cassandra were the two that didn't particularly interest me when I read their descriptions (and from what we saw of Cass in DA2) but now they're actually two of my favourites. Sera was one of the ones I was most intrigued by but I'm the least interested in her out of the whole cast.

There are a couple of cutsecenes that give you the option to break it off but it's part of his story arc so theres a bit of a wait between each one. You can't just walk up to him and tell him it's over.

Oh ok. But you had to be in an actual "choose to be in a relationship" thingie first? (BW's so easy to charm so early, I couldn't resist...)

Eh, please be careful with BW, I've heard that many people got "ninja'd" by him. Like the romance flag got activated even without "Start The Romance Now" indicator. I don't know if it's the case for everyone however.

Oh, nah, this is just a normal Dorian banter with Cole. I was pretty sure that Cole did a second LI read about Dorian, so I'm listening to Dana Duchy's party banter compilations.

When does Cole say this stuff? I never got a peep out of him. But I'm also the person who got about five banters in the entire game, so... and not a soul commented on my romance.

 

Aww that's sad. Some of Dorian's comments about Cullen are the best. Interestingly enough I feel like I have gotten a lot more banter recently, both on my original character and my newer one. Idk if they patched a fix or something.

I actually really dislike how makeup is done in this game and I always just put the intensity for everything to the lowest possible setting.

Indeed! I wasn't too excited about him before playing but he is absolutely one of my favorite characters and I have him in my party whenever possible.

You don't get the choose to commit/be in romance with UNTIL the first time you can break it off. It's an either or. I am not sure however if before that first time you can go to someone else or not. But he is pretty heavily into it by the time you get to Skyhold.
