I think the horrible thought for me is that they would make the plot so similar. The religion of Andraste is very similar to Christianity as is, I don't want more tie ins. Also I know this won't bother some people but making the inquisitor essentially Jesus is just so....well it feels sacrilegious almost. I don't want my character who romps around killing dragons and sleeping with party members to also supposed to represent this worlds version of my messiah lol!

I'm religious as well, and to be honest, I find it easy to divorce my real world beliefs from representation in the game. Granted, Andraste's story mixes a lot of Jesus, along with some Joan of Arc, but I doubt they are gonna be making a lot of parallels to Jesus. And if there are, it's by mere coincidence and not necessarily on purpose. As to the "sacrificing your Inquisitor", I don't think that'll be a problem, as they have mentioned a post game several times.

I'm Jewish, but I definitely get what you mean. That said, I really don't think BW would go overboard with allegory. They seem a pretty sensitive lot when it comes to big issues like religion. And the idea of a messiah/hero/etc who is tied to supernatural power of some sort is pretty universal to human mythos/religions as a whole, so even if the trope is present I don't think it would be Christian-centric, certainly not to the point of insult.

I hope they're still doing it after the massive info avalanche we just had.

Just tweeted them to double check.

I'd think so? I mean, why not!  They showed us a picture of the companions, but I'd like details on the level that Vivienne got for hers. And a mini-fic-thing!  :D

I'm hoping it's either Solas or DHMG.

EDIT: I mean, why not use that phrase twice in a row gosh.

Both are sound theories, and I was thinking about both of them sort of. :) Either way, it could be interesting. :)

Hello everyone,

But I do want to show you guys some of my DA illustrations from time to time if that's okay.

Here is an illustration, a complete line art illu I made (which will be colored in a couple of days).

For me it takes a really heavy hand for that trope to be offensive but it's really easy to make it boring. But I trust the writers not to make DAI boring, so I trust them not to lean on the Messiah Figure thing too heavily. I think the picture was just like that because you need a stupidly long table to show 13 people clearly.

GUYS I TOTALLY FORGOT WE'RE SUPPOSED TO MEET A NEW FOLLOWER TOMORROW

HOW DID I FORGET THAT

I'm wondering since they are calling it follower Friday, but still using the term companion for well...companions. Does this mean we will/might still get a Friday for Cullen? Because while he might not be a companion I would consider him a follower.

I'm not religious at all. But I think they do the whole hint at religion thing because it's a real issue. It tends to touch bases with a lot of people and it's familiar. I'm liking the idea of it, because it may add more conflict for our boy Cullen.

Hmmmm, I think it might not even be the Veil tear itself...

Spoiler

And on a grander scale, I wonder if the Inquisitor's mark can affect the Tranquil. I mean, it looks like he's got a piece of the Fade on his very hand.

I guess that depends on how Dragon Age has used the word in the past. I'm trying to remember how they referred to Anders back before DA2. If they used 'Followers' then, we can be pretty sure they mean just those who are in our party. If not, then, maybe it's a word they're using for the whole lot of them.

Honestly, I'd say no at this point, but I could be wrong!

EDIT: Just checked the other DA2 forums at BSN, and Follower was the term used them, so I'm definitely assuming that there will be no blurbs for Leliana, Scribbles, or Cullen. They could be released all at once, as some kind of 'Advisors' reveal, but I would not believe individually.

I'm wondering where it confirms for certain that Cullen is an NPC?  It seems everyone is assuming he is an NPC.  Probably right but I'm not completely certain he isn't a companion until I hear it straight from the horse's mouth.  After all, you know what they say about assuming, right? :P

Umm, how are we Jesus again? Last time I checked we've already Joan of Jesus over here in Andraste. I mean, I get the obvious Last Supper thing in the companion and advisor photo and I suppose we are some sort of saviour, but it's literally saving the world, not so much morally.

This is a fair criticism! Normally I get huffy when people take assumptions and state them as fact, and here I am doing the same thing!

But, you're right, there's been no confirmation about Cullen being a companion or not.

I just feel like there may still be some hope since I would have thought they would have announced it with the romance info.  but they have been silent as the tomb...... <_<

Does anyone know who confirmed Cullen as a love interest besides Greg Ellis?  His tweet said there would be romance and companionship but he did not say for Cullen specifically.  The question he answered was not specific enough.....

Yep.  Seriously.  And also, will they be simultaneously updating the characters section on the website, which certainly seems to be a mix of companions and significant NPCs?  I know I'm going to keep checking that thing twenty times a day.
