Does the romance with Cullen differ if you are a mage?
I have not experienced all the scenes yet, but so far it has just given me an extra option, to ask him if he could be with a mage. That's all.

So I posted a question way late last night, but since we have more people on now I was curious as to the answer:
Can anybody confirm that Bull's romance doesn't actually lock in after the 1st sex scene? The 1st scene does indeed have the "start romance with Iron Bull" indicator, but it didn't lock on me. I was able to start Cullen's romance without him bringing up Bull. Then after starting Cullen's romance, Bull's romance just disappeared - no break-up or anything.
It locks once the Inquisitor gives IB the dragon tooth gift.

There are a few variations and extra options in dialogue, but nothing that would mandate rolling a mage.
I'm not sure how much there is specifically, but where a human can ask about having a title bothering him, an elf can ask if he's bothered that she's Dalish.
I haven't seen the Halamshiral one, but there's a banter in Haven I just heard where a man is apologizing to an elven woman and was apparently chewed out by Cullen (the pair near the gate: he seems to be an agent reporting information back to the elven woman. Most of their banters, he seems to have jumped to conclusions about things).
Edited for top:
Only decent shot I have of one of my IQs with Cullen so far, though Derzka's hair is black in most lighting
I didn't get the impression that it was Cullen who chewed her out, I thought it was just someone under Cullen's command. I'd have to go back and hear it for myself, but I can't be arsed, lol.

It adds some flavor of dialogue. I personally like it so far. My mage was formerly in the Circle, and is a little self-conscious about her magic and how he perceives her, so it works for me. It isn't mandatory or anything, just a matter of what you like.

lol as a rule I ask him once if he could care for my mage and then leave it at that, choosing any other mage specific lines with him suggests to me I am obsessing more over it than he is, but for science I did try the lake mage option...he gave me that ^^ response even though I had chose necromancy...I was like, you are clearly not paying attention lol

Nah, it was Cullen:

You also get more dialogue if your warden was a mage. But it's only one scene.

Oh! I didn't get that one! Does he clarify what Cullen said? Like was he being racist/needlessly rude because she's an Elf, or was he just being stroppy/abrupt in general?

Yeah, I liked that conversation, it clarified what a lot were wondering about and pretty much how I expected.

Mine is a nice safe Knight-Enchanter. Nothing to fear here
.
It's not like she wants to poke and prod him about being mage, but she's genuinely self-conscious about how he sees her (and that concern isn't baseless, either). It may be a little bit of an obsession on her part, but it has a lot to do with her past in the Circle too.

What's this convo you guys are talking about where Cullen had yelled at someone? I can't see images at work and I think I missed something key there ![]()

I thought he got angry at one of his soldiers for treating that elven woman badly, forcing him to apologize? ![]()
Oh he got angry at someone else for treating the elf woman badly? That makes sense. For a sec I thought you guys were saying Cullen got angry at the woman and she was upset about it and complaining to someone else, which had me all confused ![]()

I don't have screenshots, but these quotes are from the talktables:SpoilerI've never heard the first one, but it seems to fit. I've definitely heard the elven woman (Charter) say the second one to the scout, though.
So we don't actually know what Cullen said to the Elve or whether he was being racist? I can't imagine he was, since he's fine with everyone else.

I'm guessing Cullen chewed out the other soldier for being disrespectful to the elf and using the term "knife ear."

No, Cullen reprimanded the scout for calling the elven woman a knife-ear.

IB's romance takes that long to lock? The 1st sex scene you get with him has the "start a romance with Iron Bull" flag, so I thought it locked at that point. Cullen's sure does after the 1st kiss.

Oh! Sorry, I misunderstood the original post. I thought you guys were saying that it was Cullen being racist/rude and the scout/whoever apologise for Cullen being rude or something.
OK, a little later than I'd planned, but here's the last connector that led to the children's charge, the conversation at the chess game.

Good grief ... can you imagine the uprising and angry new threads started if Cullen made a blatant racist comment? ![]()

Sorry, I was probably being vague with my pronouns.

I thought about clarifying that it was the guy that was chewed out by Cullen when I posted the screenshot, but thought the "her" in your comment was just a typo. ![]()
I thought DAI also spanned a year like Origins?
I heard somewhere that it's only a span of months, so less than a year, but I don't know if that's been officially established.
