Hey there fellow Cullenites!  

 

As promised, here is the Cullenites Birthday Appreciation Package post with all the information you need to get your gift, art, or words into Greg Ellis’ hands.  Greg’s birthday is March 21st and I thought since so many people were disappointed to miss out on the last Cullenite package that why not send the man something nice for his birthday?  He has been so kind to us all on twitter lately posting, singing and saying whatever we have asked of him, so why not return the favor?  

 

Here is what you can do/send:

 

Any digital art file of art that you have capable of being printed in an 8x10 size for the package.

Any traditional art about 8x10 size (any size around or smaller is fine).

Any cards, letters, handwritten notes, poems, songs, etc can be mailed or sent to me to be included in the package.

You can either sign your work or remain anonymous or use any social media handle you care to.  I found some folks are a bit shy using their real names and I have no problem with that as that was the case last time.

As long as I can place your item into a plastic sleeve to fit into a binder, I am happy to include it in the package!

The picture above is what I placed in a shipping box and mailed out to Greg Ellis.  The binder neatly held all the art, thumb drives, poetry, and handcrafted items everyone had sent me.  I don’t mind bearing the cost of the shipping and materials used (not thumb drives though) to put this together as long as you are comfortable sending me your letters, art, or hand crafted items.  

 

Other important details:

 

The deadline for this is February 21st, 2015!  I feel this should give everyone enough time to participate and hopefully spread this post like wildfire here for all to see to give it time to reach him before his birthday.  

If you need me to print out your digital art, I will need your hi res file by February 18th 2015 in order to ensure they are printed and placed in the book before I send the package out.  

Lastly, because Greg Ellis checks on the twitter account for #Cullenites please refrain from unintentionally tweeting about this gift for him until he actually receives it.  I want to have this remain a surprise for him as we did last time.

Send me an ask for my mailing address for any physical items you need to included in the gift package.

If you have any questions, please let me know by sending me an ask (anon is fine, I’ll just post the responses).

I respect the artists’ and writers’ work and do not plan on posting any works included in this package online.  I will however take detail photos of the final product for all involved in the gift project to be able to see how their part of the gift will look, but this will be done privately.

I believe that should cover everything, but if not, you know what to do!  I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with this time!  The last package was completely amazing to the point that Greg has tweeted about it a total of four times and he was so touched by the gift that he recorded words of thanks to his Cullenites. =)

I just found out Solas is voiced by Gareth David-Lloyd who I was totally in love with a few years back when he played Ianto in Torchwood. And Merrill is (I already knew this) Eve Myles who was his co-star in that show. I recognized Eve about as soon as Merrill opened her mouth, but Gareth not. I am shocked and ashamed. XD

I love the combination of green eyes with purple eyeshadow. I have green eyes myself, although not as bright of a green as IQ, and my fave eyeshadow color to wear is purple. I guess I kind of modeled that aspect of her after myself.

It can be from Facebook, that is where mine is from. Theoretically my privacy setting make it visible to only my friends, but if you right click and "copy image location" and then use that link in the manner you said above it works and bypasses that.

Exactly. We have ambassadors up in North definitely, but the Northern countries definitely still hold all the power in their respective countries.

Cool! I don't know how to draw (I wish I did  ), so maybe I'll write a short story. Something involving the DA universe, since writing about GE himself would be a bit...odd.

It would be nice to participate in something like this with the cullenites. I'll do my best to deliver it before the deadline! 

 

Uhm...I have a doubt. Where am I supposed to send my story once it's ready? Do I tweet to rihouston, send to her tumblr...how can I contact her and identify myself as a cullenite?

So since people were talking about favorite Cullen moments before, here's one personal favorite moment that's not related to his romance or personal arc at all: Blackwall's personal quest.
 
First, he drops a very apt Meredith reference. Possibly my favorite in the game, as it's one of the few where he doesn't outright demonize her.

 Then, allowing himself to be angry and feel betrayed without letting these feelings blind him to whole picture. Which a lot of the fandom doesn't seem to be capable of, but again I digress. Go Cullen for being the emotionally mature one for a change.

Then, even though you can respond in such different ways, from supporting Blackwall to being too angry for mercy to turning the question back on him, he remains focused on the importance of what Blackwall just did, rather than yours or his personal feelings on the matter:

All FANTASTIC points!  The nuances of his character are too easy to miss (especially in a first playthrough where I, personally...squeed...the whole time!).  His character development is really remarkable and so well written/acted.  I feel like at least some of the naysayers (those who felt adding him to game was purely fan-service, etc) have to at least give credit where credit is due.  He is a very thoughtful character.

About Blackwall's quest, Cullen's last look:

 

He was certainly reminded of his own rigid stance regarding mages many years ago while serving as a templar in Kirkwall. Once, he also would've not cared. Most people actually live all their lives not caring after a certain point. He grew beyond that, though.

My man quizzy asked him nicely because he was in paaaain...and now I've reloaded the save because he looked so...defeated when he sipped it. Help? Does his personality change at all if he takes it, like at the war room banter or at halamshiral? I'm 1000% sure this has been asked b4 but there are 4300 pages in this thread. Help, cullenites?

You can go back on that choice in the next cutscene with Cullen, I think.

Convince him to stop taking lyrium. It's the option on the left of the dialog wheel. The #6 one.

It seems to a bit...the prayer scene is hard to watch, in my opinion, if he is still taking it. (from you tube videos I have seen where it is a male quizzie who had him take it).  All iterations of that scene, he seems very...bitter about his choices...

There is nothing wrong with you, it is called having a conscience and possessing empathy. Congratulations, you're a good person! 

 

No, I don't think his temperament changes unless you're in a romance with him, I have heard he can be short with you right afterwards if you don't offer him the "we'll find another way after" route.
