Cole said "Safe and solid, protecting and proud. He feels like quiet, stronger when you hold him" for me. I know he says some different things for a Cullen that is still on lyrium, but I haven't had the heart to make him take it so I haven't gotten any of those.

 

There was a banter between Cole and Solas that makes me wonder.  I know a lot of Cole's dialogue (and banter with Solas) are movie references, though.

Solas: How could they not?

 

 

Been working on a playthrough with Solas and he's definitely worth the effort of staying away from Cullen. It might be worthwhile to not talk to Cullen at all until you are in a relationship with Solas though... those heart options are so tempting 

 

Solas was my first DA: I romance and is my #1.  He's definitely worth it.  That isn't to say I'm not enjoying Cullen's romance arc so far on this playthrough- it has a different feel to it that I like.

As beautiful and touching Solas's romance is, it's damn depressing in the end lol.  It's nice to know that this time around, my Inquisitor isn't going to be dumped and abandoned XD

Yeah I'm not sure about the pain part, but the "they embrace it" and "how could they not?" part made me think of Cullen and the Inquisitor...  I suppose it has nothing to do with them, though.

And this is why I will never romance him as a mage. I can't even imagine carrying the burden of, "what if she becomes an abomination?" As a rogue or warrior his biggest concern about his future with you is whether or not there will be another full-scale invasion of Thedas by a god-like power (very likely, given its recent history) rather than whether he might have to put down the love of his life.

Cullen will say that even him, he's very close of becoming a Red Templar himself if life turn a little bit differently. We know now no one is immune to possession too. In any case it's risky for him as well as you.

Yes, but many big companies still don't quite get it.

I had thought EA would understand it, but apparently not. I don't remember this happening with ME3 gameplay footage, especially a month and a half after release. Why wait till now to start hitting people who post footage?

I don't think anyone really knows why yet, but apparently the ban-hammer is knocking down quite a few channels.

 

My guess would be that YT is enforcing some 'potential copyright' crusade against raw footage in video games.

Yeah, the whole thing confuses me massively...especially since these people make nothing from doing it. It's total free advertisement - I've purchased plenty of music/games after seeing them on Youtube.

 

Then again there's services like Spotify where you can be 100% free and listen to pretty much anything and everything under the sun...so how is that not a problem? You could and still can listen to Inquisition's entire soundtrack FOR FREE...something they wanted folks to pay extra for with the deluxe edition (and I did *sigh*).  

 

Well services like Pandora and Spotify do pay artists a set amount for every time one of their tracks is played. It's not normally a lot, but it's something.

ban-hammer: Typically when a company takes down/suspends/or bans a ton of users for disobeying some aspect of the rules. It's usually done in a widespread movement where many people are banned/deleted/suspended all at once.

 

Well that's easiest way of explaining it. It can be applied more loosely.

 

It was 'normal' but for whatever reason YT is banning/deleting accounts that mainly feature raw gameplay footage. As Panda mentioned it most likely due to the potential of copyright infringement.

There are artist fighting against this too. A big one being Taylor Swift.

On a slightly more serious note, it always bugs me a little when people start making judgments on the moral fiber of the player based on what their characters do. It's a hazy issue sometimes because we do all have our own real life opinions on everything and there are many people who play what are essentially "What would I do in this situation"-selfquisitors, but there are also many who do not. Whose Inquisitors do things they might not ever choose themselves. I'm not saying anyone here is guilty of being judgmental, I think most of us know better than that, but I have sensed some implied judgments in some of the comments on the lyrium issue, intended or not. Just wanted to say be careful with that.

If my comments came across that way, I apologize. I think I commented that was my personal reaction, but I may not have made it clear that it was about me finding it too painful to do that to a character I liked rather than what I thought of anyone else doing so (I suspect both of my daughters would cheerfully run a**quisitors who would do exactly that).

That might be it. However the weirdest thing for me is that there wasn't any warning. Usually youtube don't just insta-ban people and delete channels, they usually give you warnings and remove the videos that are being claimed. I have had one video removed and some videos banned from certain countries due copyrights but never anything more serious although I know I don't follow copyright laws

This is why I find it so curious. Sure, I could see different people having different levels of reaction to addiction, but there's something... I dunno, weirdly judgmental about the way they talk about Samson's addiction that feels hypocritical. We're all addicted, but Samson's lesser for having a bad reaction. Cullen says Samson was kicked out for "erratic behavior" but seems uncool to not help Samson with his problem since the Order caused it. 

 

On the contrary, I think that ex-Templars in Samson's condition would serve as a useful motivational tool, in the "if you don't follow orders, you might end up like Samson.  You don't want to end up like Samson, do you?" sense.  I don't recall what reason might have been given for his expulsion in DA2, but Cullen says that he was kicked out for passing love letters for that-mage-whose-name-I-can't-recall.  If even petty infractions can result in that sort of punishment, it would send a pretty clear message to the remaining Templars that they'd better toe Meredith's line.... or else.

 

It all fits in with various things Cullen says about regaining control of his life, and Cass mentioning that Templars suffer in silence:  they're perceived as jailors, but they are also imprisoned.  Once you're hooked on lyrium, the Chantry owns you.  It appears that not everyone who goes off it winds up mad or dead -- Cullen obviously doesn't -- but such stories would make for useful propaganda, and I can't imagine that they would discourage the belief..  Step out of line, and that happens?  How many Templars would want to take the risk?

I am obvioulsy too faithful to my BW men (dammit Alistair, Kaidan, and Cullen).

 

Soon! Very Soon! Hopefully by this weekend. I've been distracted by finding tumblr (it's addicting someone should've warned me), a kili/tauriel fic I've been working on, and have been working out the pacing for the next chapter. Really I'm just easily distracted, in general.
