I need to figure out flycam.  The one time I tried, I ended up flying in the sky with no idea how to return and had to exit and reload the game.

There certainly is a learning curve...and I'm still learning. You don't want to know how many screenshots I go through to get one good one. My recycle bin has several hundred shots in it that were thrown away...and it was cleaned just a few days ago. OMG you guys should see some of the "outtakes" we get (I'm sure Fontofnothing gets them too). Some are just downright disturbing...nothing like when the camera gets too close and you're looking partially into someone's head.

Yes, he has a great level of detail in the face...part of the reason why I love taking screenies. Too bad the armor and head hair is so low-rez...

I'm of two minds about this... on the one hand, it would be great for the fans who get to romance Cullen and would like this sort of story line. But on the other hand, it could make some fans uncomfortable (those not comfortable with the thought of marriage) and it also would be unfair to players who didn't romance Cullen. Should players who romance Josie get the option to propose marriage? But what if a female player romances Josie; can only the male propose marriage? See, that's where we get into unfairness. So could only straight players marry their love interest? That is too reflective of the real world (in some places) for comfort, at least in my opinion.

Maybe things like marriage and family should be left to the wonderful world of fanfiction and fanart :)

I think what Arty was trying to say was, that if there is marriage in the game would they make it equal for everyone or would it only be offered to the people in a heterosexual romance. Which, in all honesty and bluntness, would suck if the LI option was bi and it was offered to one sex but not another, which also brings it to would they also incorporate non-heterosexual marriage into the game as well or have it flat out denied for gay LI's? Coming from a country where it is legal to marry one of the same sex, and being a person who believes people should be able to marry who they want to marry, I would hope so but that may not fit in with DA law. I think this is where it becomes a bit tricky, unfortunately. I think I could safely say that everyone in this thread would want things to be equal for everyone but that is not always going to be the case, as to why marriage is sometimes better left to head-cannon. Trust me, Arty never would have meant it the way you may have interpreted it. She would be one of the first to vouch for equality for all. ^_^

Sorry......

I would think most nobles would marry out of need to consolidate power, wealth, connections and lineage. Love may come to some of those marriages maybe.

I have no idea how the general population would view or even how the Chantry would view it.

It's one thing I liked about Elder Scrolls Online, you did run into same sex married couples.

Dunno if you guys had decided to stop talking about this subject or not... Just giving my 2 cents, I'm on about if ever they make a marriage, it must be possible for all LI (if they consent... I can hardly picture Sera on this honestly). We already get same-sex marriage in Skyrim and I don't even hear anything controversial about that... They even go further on child adoption matter (even here where I live, homosexual marriage is legally OK but still huge debate about legal adoption).

Shame on me for bringing up the Sims, but same-sex couples could get married in the Sims 4, correct?  I can't remember if in the Sims 2 or 3 if there was "civil unions" but not the word "marriage" for same-sex couples.  I believe in the Sims 4 they finally used the word marriage for same sex couples, but I could be wrong.  They could also adopt and start a family together.  I don't remember there being anything controversial about the Sims, either.

I'm under impression that there is no same sex marriage cause I don't think there ever has been married same sex couple in the DA that we would know. But this is just assumption though which might not be even true and like I earlier said in one of my post there might be even culture or cultures in Thedas where same sex marriage is allowed and we just don't know yet about them.

I would have said the same but there were two lords in DAI in Halamshiral that were clearly together, though I don't know if they were married. They definitely sounded like an old married couple lol.

That said, if s/s marriage were allowed anywhere, it'd be Orlais.

Well... if Skyrim can make it daily staple, why not Thedas?

It's "allowed" in Orlais' real-world counterpart  :P

Now the debate is over child adoption.

I'd actually imagine it wouldn't be in Orlais but rather loveless marriages are usual and there is lot of lovers. At least with nobles, since they still want to keep birthlines intact ^^ Rivaini in other hand could be different story :)

But it would be nice to get some canon information of this by devs. I'm not sure if they would answer but maybe I could ask Gaider in tumblr.. and probaply start very fiery tumblr debate if he decides to answer XD

So France has system like that. My country Finland is going to have two at same time, it was voted and approved by parliament month ago or so. Equal marriage with equal adoption laws I think. It's nice that they are going for both same time.

Cullen before he knocks the crap off his desk.  I like the look he gives her- definitely the look of a man in love:

Could someone possibly pm me the full link for this picture? I wanna see it but work is lame and just having the last part of the link (which is all I can get) won't load up the image on my phone.

Eh, I don't think they should make it available to everyone just because but should be biased on what makes sense. Like it would be super weird for Sera to want to get married, but I could totally see Dorian going for it. Blackwall is sort of a toss-up, hard to say there because we don't see any development after his whole "thing". Cullen and Josie would seem to make sense. Cass, idk about that. I'd say probably not and same with Iron Bull. I feel like I am forgetting someone.. hrm Solas is obviously out.

Hehe that's good! Here it's manifestation to support the equal adoption. Then counter-manifestation against equal adoption. And then counter-manifestation against manifestation against equal adoption. And so on. There are so many manifestations & counter manifestations that finally I get the impression that the goal of their manifestation is just to make one counter-manifestation and everyone had just forgotten why they did any manifestation at all.

Just real world Orlesians being Orlesians. Manifestations & protest are their national sport, not The Game. :P

Still, I had seen many people express their wish to marry Sera. I understand very well that it might be a little off her character. The thing is, if you make marriage available to one LI, it'll be not very nice if they don't make it available to all LI... (IDK about Solas however)

About adoption & kids, that's a concept that works on Skyrim... But Skyrim's about playing as long as you like, doing whatever you like (I tried playing as a farmer once...) while on Thedas & being the Inquisitor is not... the best time/place to raise kids. I can't imagine my inquisitor (nor Cullen or other LI) had enough time to spare for that, and their lives are put in danger on daily basis.

Lol, politics are often like that. There is politics groups here too that look for dismish the parliaments decision, mostly Christian democracts and The Finns Party. I doubt they will manage to do it though.

I mean if they could work it in so it made sense sure, but it seems like it would be weird. Though admittedly she's the companion I interacted with the least so I might not have a very good grip on her as a person. And yea, it would mean disappointing fans some, but that's necessary. If you make a game full of everything everyone wants it'll be a really crappy game >< For instance I know a lot of people are mad the LIs have race/gender preferences, but I feel like that went a long way towards making them whole people and feeling more real. Obviously in the absence of all the other things they did to make them more real it wouldn't have carried it, but it did help.

Just think of something... basically a Lavellan romancing Cullen will be something like "The Stag & The Lion"... with halla being strongly associated with Dalish. This is scary due to Games of Thrones comparison...

Very true. Still, it's not my place to comment since I get my first & second choice (Cullen & Solas) & it doesn't bother me to play male Inquisitor to go for Dorian. I know that it's not the case for many however.

We'll see. Still I hope more for some serious story DLC more than just a marriage DLC

Although it would undoubtedly make me feel all happy inside to see my IQ marry Cullen, I do find that thinking too much about their future kind of ruins the romance for me. Like, right now it is all sweet and perfect, they say just the right things, I go "aww". But the thought of them up in the middle of the night changing diapers, and then being kind of cranky with each other the next day cauz they didn't get enough sleep, it is obviously not very romantic. Of course the reality is that not every aspect of relationships/marriage/family is romantic or sweet or perfect, but since this is a game and not reality, I guess I just don't like to imagine anything except for the cute romantic scenes where everything seems perfect. I dunno if that makes any sense, lol.

LOL My pleasure. It's the academic in me...

citation-needed.png

What I find interesting about that WoT entry is that same sex relationships don't seem nearly as mainstream as I would've hoped. :( But also keeping in mind... it's a Fereldan Andrastian cleric's explanation of Thedosian sexuality as well.

And I'm not certain same-sex marriage is considered off the table by the writers. Didn't they discover they'd given Arl Eamon and Teagan two different fathers, and one of the writers proposed they were a same sex couple?
