So proud I live in a state where same sex marriage is legal...and was one of the first to do so...

I have to admit, the trend in the opposite direction is one of the reasons I'm planning to get out of this state if I can, but I'm tied here for at least 3.5 more years.

But I would dearly love to see it somewhere in game (not a wedding, just a same sex couple who refer to each other as wives or husbands,) even though they've made it fairly clear that they're treating marriage as alliance/bloodlines rather than romantic (ignoring the option to marry Alistair as a noblewoman). Depending on a country's inheritance laws, marriage might be important for some non-nobles. It's another reason it's too bad modding isn't practical for that sort of thing, though, because I don't see them devoting the resources to a wedding DLC that's almost guaranteed to cause a lot of uproar if it isn't done extremely well. There's even (finally) a dwarven wedding mod for DAO that's really well done.

Yea... it's particularly annoying for me because I have always been a tomboy and the whole gender struggle was a huge deal for me for a long time. And although I'm in a good spot about it now, seeing people expressing opinions like that does hurt a bit. I see a lot of femininity in Cass, and I think she was done really well... I don't understand how other people don't see it.

Spent a good portion of my playtime making pathetic pining noises everytime Cass was on screen. Their loss.

Just a question, is there an official ceremony on same sex marriage in front of the Mayor or things like that in the US?

In France it's the mayor who perform the ceremony in the City Hall. A couple who did that show me the video that the Mayor jokes about how now he can kiss the cheeks of both brides  . On man-woman marriage he can only kiss the cheeks of the bride & shake the hand of the groom. It was really funny  . He got a huge hug from both the brides in addition.

To my knowledge, the ceremony is performed the same as a ceremony between a man and woman. Here's a link to more info:

O I know, that's the topic about a guy who was asking about why male quizzy only get one IQ. Then someone told him that for straight males he only get Josie since Cass is basically a man or something like that.

Weird, Cass attract me much more than Josie. And as her being a woman, I find all her being & attitudes & everything so endearing.

Yeah, I think I know which poster you're talking about. I've got him on ignore.

She's great, but I suppose she lacks the more typical "female" personality traits that some guys may prefer.

Cass is really a girl behind that hard shell. IMO, some guys rate Cass (& Brienne of Tarth) as not womanly since they took the warrior class that is traditionally a masculine dominant world. I agree that while some guys are attracted to more softer & feminin ladies, some are not. I know some girls who are attracted to more masculine-type guys, some are attracted to a more effeminate ones.

But just because Cass does not attract them must not be a base of judgement that she must be a "man".

I mean come on, she wants to be courted as a lady with that rose & candles & poems! She's the most feminin romantic LI IMO, even more than Josie

Exactly! Cass has the internal romantic needs of a cliched romance novel. It's adorable, since her character is shown to be this hard ass who doesn't take anything from anyone. I think it makes her romance more personal.

As for Josie she has bothered me from the start. Something about her character makes me roll my eyes. Ah well, can't like them all.

Yea, I know a lot of people were disappointed by that, but I was happy about it. It's nice to have a strong warrior woman who isn't gay/bi. It just seemed like the obvious choice to make her gay or bi so when they didn't I was pleasantly surprised. Though I was also surprised they didn't make Cullen gay or bi, I was totally expecting that for some reason.

Ah, you refer to those afflicted with 'Non rigiditis, Totalus non Queerus'. They are men who judge that a creature is male or female depending on whether or not they get, ahem, rigid. If rigidity is not triggered, then the creature must be a man because they are 'totally not gay'. And the value of a woman is judged by her ability to cause rigidity. *nod nod*

*this post was tongue in cheek*

Oi... Poor babies. Look at it this way, at least we know Cass is only being romanced by men who can appreciate her steel (I feel bad for Josephine, though). ;)

She was the only female LI I'd be interested in, hence my disappointment.  I understand that she's straight, though.

I won't go back into rehashing this topic, but I am very glad BW chose to give characters sexual preferences. It brings a certain level of dimension to the world and its characters.

I like Josie as a character, but she's not nearly attractive as Cass (for me personally). Josie is too sweet for me (weird right? I find Cullen's romance not "too sweet" but just right). Cass is sweet in an unconventional way :D

I think that it'll be hard for BW to make Cullen 100% gay like Dorian. Since he was clearly attracted to a female Amell in DA:O, he already bring too much baggage. And they could get an Exalted March from all Lady Cullenites :P

EDIT: okay I stop talking about this...

I'll say this much about the Cullen romance.  I haven't finished it yet, but I went into expecting it to be bunnies and rainbows and sunshine after experiencing the (beautifully painful) trainwreck that was Solas.  I'm REALLY surprised at how mature and deep Cullen's romance is.  With her, he finds the passion and love he denied himself.  It's beautiful in its own way, and just because it isn't depressing as hell doesn't make it any less deep.  I prejudged his romance before I entered it, and I'm glad that I gave it a chance.

I still like the idea of talking about their future together, not actually going off and having a wedding and playing them raising a family.  In Cullen's scene he says he doesn't want to move on from her-- he wants a future with her.  I'd like for them to discuss that further.  That future doesn't have to include marriage.

Yea I'd like that too, it being said in some form that they stayed together.

I'd have actually preferred if Cass didn't have softer/romantic/feminine side. She's otherwise perfect to me but that part I don't care about. I know I'm pretty alone with this though :P

I love Cass and that she is such a strong woman. I mean it wouldn't make sense for a warrior like her to be all like "oh no, I broke a nail!" She needs to be tough like she is, to be in the position that she is. It does not make her any less of a woman. And if romanced she does show a more sensitive and romantic side.

Josie is a great character, but the more I get to know her, the less interested I am in romancing her, for some reason. Cass's romance is sweet (I'm actually with Panda in that there was a bit more of the flowers and candles than I needed, but I still find the scene well done), but she's also still very assertive, and I love that. That's the kind of female PC to male NPC romance I'm still waiting for, as much as I love many of the ones they've done in DA. I seem to be in the (tiny) minority, though, for wanting at least one that isn't almost exclusively male NPC initiated and wanting one where the woman is comfortable enough with who she is to say what she wants and go for it. A female warden to Alistair can come close, but only in the sense she can ask him to her tent. This doesn't mean the ones they've done aren't great (and I know that those who prefer a shy or uncertain character feel they can't completely play that out either). That's just what I would like to see because it just doesn't fit several of my IQs personalities to wait anxiously for the other person.
