So, there's like, magic weather wards? No wonder Cullen's not in a hurry to fix the roof in his bedroom!

It actually kinda sounded to me like there were, when you first check out the garden and the flower pot things.  Well, nothing specific beyond Skyhold is magical and whatever plants you want can grow here, but yeah.

And I love how Solas tries to play dumb about the whole thing too.

Cullen's roof goes from inconvenient, freezing hole to sexy skylight to woo by!

I love the massive holes in the wall (and the roof) and am forced to keep thinking, "No one feels that massive snowcap just over there?!"

Me too. Nobody seems bothered by it at all but maybe we just have a bunch of Ferelden's in service.

Meanwhile, I'm sure my circle mage Inq was like makin' my way downtown, walkin' fast, hauling ass, cause it's bloody cold out

I kept feeling bad for Dorian because he makes several mentions of how cold it is in the south. I think he even made one while we were in the Hissing Wastes.

I REALLY wish we could upgrade Skyhold more. Cullen's pi!ss poor roofing/flooring makes me think when he and my Inquisitor are having sex a wooden board is going to come crashing down.

I can just see that now on the town crier pamphlet:

"The Inquisitor survived dragons, an ancient magister, but died when a old broken wooden plank fell down and bonked her in the head while having sex with Commander Cullen."

I swear Cullen's roof/floor is only held together by termites holding hands.

By the way I know a lot of people here love Cullen or Solas or both, but I have never seen Blackwall mentioned. I watched a tiny bit of his romance on YT, not through the end because I didn't want to see major spoilers. He seems pretty sweet, in a tormented kind of way. I mean it could very well all go very wrong later and I just don't know about it. But just wondering why he is never mentioned much.

Blackwall is a very divisive character, for reasons you'll find out on your own (do avoid reading spoilers), and people tend to get heated up discussing him. We don't bring him up much in the thread anymore because every time it was done before it turned into a barrage of "372932591 reasons why I hate Blackwall" versus me and the other three or four of his fans we have here going "can we please not turn this into a Blackwall hate thread?" :P Like Tish said, the contentiousness is why we largely avoid the subject these days. This thread generally tries to avoid character hate of all sorts. Sebastian, Anders, Blackwall... it's better we all just agree to disagree about these more controversial characters, and continue agreeing that our Cullen-Wullen is the bee's knees.

But I do love Blackwall, his romance is my second favorite in the game, and I do recommend giving it a try with another character at some point. He can be very wrong for certain Inquisitors, but he can also be a very good romance for the right kind of character.

My third favorite romance is Sera, who also doesn't get discussed a lot here... I guess because we just don't have a very large number of F/F fans? It happens, people tend to flock certain ways. More people here tend to like Solas romance, which did nothing for me - Sera's, on the other hand, is adorable and heartbreaking in just the right way for my tastes. I've romanced her with two different characters now, and resisting her has become the same struggle I have with resisting Blackwall's charms. Not flirting with them is haaard.

Personally I tend to not bring up Sera in particular due to how controversial she is both on this forum and tumblr.

On a positive Blackwall note, my Qunari did Wicked Hearts last night and they're so CUTE!

Hee, that's adorable! You know, I romanced him with a human first, but then I did it again with a qunari and it was so much funnier. He gets so TINY next to her, and still cheeses it up, calling her ~my lady~ all chivalrous, even though she could squash him under her boot. I love it.

Yeah, I think that's weird too. At first I thought, "What lovely trees!" and then realized, "oh, we're surrounded by brutal snowy mountaintops." Not sure if it's a design choice or a deliberate, "Skyhold is different" thing that the developers were going for.

Well, there's this:

Arguably, you are the special snowflake that's holding Skyhold together. :P

Happy New Year everyone!

I'm making a music video (I'm ShepardCousland on youtube :) ) on Lavellan-Cullen, and I plan to have flashbacks on the video, so I will need clips from Origins and DA2. Could you guys help me and list the quests he is involved in on Origins and DA2, so I can review and fraps capture from my previous saves?

Thanks.

It could be that the presence or sentience within the Fortress accepts your presence via the Anchor, or more importantly....it senses Solas.

For the record, when we talk about characters, I don't hate any of them. I may not like them much, but I don't hate them. And I don't think less of people who do like them. We all have our preferences.

The fact that the characters stir so much emotion means they have all been well written which essentially means there really aren't any BAD characters. A bad character is one who provokes no emotional response at all. So while I may take issue with what a character says or does and while I may disagree with a position another fan may take over that action, I don't hate characters or the people who love them. As I think I've stated before - that takes way too much of my time and energy.

He seems to be the only one that doesn't say anything to her about her size. Everybody is like "but your so BIG!" I had a chuckle when she was standing next to Cullen as he was being swarmed by all the nobles...he totally comes up to just about bewb-level. I should have taken a screenie...

No, I still think bad characters can provoke lots of emotion. For example, Fiona invokes a hellish amount of rage from me, both from her stupidity as well as the fact that I found her to be very badly written.

That's what I'm thinking, like the end of Book 2 of Legend of Korra.

But then his personal quest to activate elven artifacts to "strengthen" the veil seems quite counterproductive to that end. Unless he's lying to us about what they do, I suppose.

I still think they could have something to do with keeping Flemeth... or something... alive

Oh I see, yea I am relatively new to this thread, so I didn't see any of that. I am very intrigued now though why he is so controversial, can't wait to get to the part of the game where I find out.

I romanced Anders in DA2, so I was like "nooooo!" I thought he'd be the "happily ever after" romance, but guess not. Fenris' romance was nice though :) Should have picked that in hindsight.

I know this is not Dragon Age, but I totally loved the Kaidan romance from the Mass Effect games.

Why was Sebastian hated? I thought you couldn't really even romance him cauz he took chastity vows or something... I mean I know he had romance options and you could like promise to stay together, but they don't even kiss or anything, so it's kind of like just being friends. Or maybe that is exactly why he gets hate, the fact that people may get tricked into a romance with him only to have it turn out to not really be a physical romance.

No, while I think Fiona is a total twit and an idiot and never should have gotten anywhere near leadership, she provokes a strong response. She does her job with the fans. She'd be bad if she did all that and no one cared enough to feel anything about it.

I have a hard time siding with the Templars because I feel so bad for the mages because they're saddled with her. :D

As for Sebastian, I think he gets a lot of flack for being a Chantry boy. So many people don't like the Chantry that almost any character closely associated with it catches some of that. That and they don't like how he threatens Kirkwall over the Chantry bombing if you don't do something about Anders. I don't have any problem with it because I think you should do something final about Anders myself.

What?

Well the orb that Corypheus had that broke looked pretty similar to the center of those artifacts. I could be completely off base here. But it seems like they served some outside purpose other than restraining the veil.

I liked Sebastian, but only in a rival-mance. I think a lot of that romance happens post-game that we don't get to see. To my knowledge, they had intended to give us more via dlc, but due to the game's failure they threw that out.

If you wanted to try Fenris, you should do another playthrough! I think I've done about 10 playthroughs with that game!  :P

Kaiden wasn't my cup 'o tea. My Shep romanced him in ME:1, then he broke her heart. She moved on with Garrus...and then Kaidan had the gall to accuse her of cheating in ME:3! Garrus FTW!
