Well, from what I understand it wasn't him, cause he was sleeping for the past millennia, and then when he woke up he gave the Orb to Corypheus because he could not open it alone.

 

I think Flemeth was a primary shaper of events, particularly so she could bring forth "a reckoning that will shake the very heavens".

 

Also, I'm of a mind that the Blight is a sentient entity, and whoever/whatever helped let it loose the first time is the other major shaper of history. Because I believe that the Blight was a factor in the downfall of the elves.

I don't mean pulling strings throughout history, I meant pulling strings throughout DAI, like telling the Inquisitor to seek out the Skyhold, getting us to activate those Fade globe thingys, telling the Inquisitor to power up his/her fade hand to close the breach, etc.

My theory is that everything he had us partake in was all part of his plan to do whatever his grand goal is. If the Skyhold really does have something to do with the ancient elves or their gods/was the place where the veil was created/whatever then what better than to have the Inquisitor that now has the anchor/key permanently attached to himself/herself housed there. He may want to make use of it/them.

 

I'm not suggesting that Solas is evil/up to no good. I have no doubts that he has good intentions, but we've seen where his good intentions have led to already. Plus, the fact that the data mined description of the final scene with Flemeth states that he'll do anything and kill anyone to reach his goal doesn't bode well on the sanity/desperation scale, lol.

My mom also had her car broken into a few years ago and nothing was taken. The center console was open and a bunch of envelopes were (neatly, weird) placed on the passenger seat. More than likely they were trying to find the garage opener, which wasn't in the car.

I also felt like activating those things were part of some plan of his!!!  Maybe they were his in the first place?

I kept feeling bad for Dorian because he makes several mentions of how cold it is in the south. I think he even made one while we were in the Hissing Wastes.

I brought him to Emprise du Lion - he went "Mountains? Cold? Yes, let's bring Dorian!" in that wonderful sarcasm of his. XD

Fenris rivalmance is THE BEST.

I thought that Fenris friendmance was quite sweet actually. And I also did an Anders rivalmance with an aggressive Hawke, that was quite... crazy. XD

I'm going with Skyhold having a crush on the Inquisitor, if only because I'm tired of everything being about Solas in every theory out there. I want at least some special snowflakey-ness for my IQ too. Hell, I'll even take Leliana's blessed immortality holding Skyhold together, or the fierceness of Dorian's mustache and Vivienne's outfits combined holding the magical wards together on their own, or even the strength of Cassandra punching sneezes into Skyhold's walls making them stand stronger... or even Cantina's A+++ theory of termites holding hands. Anything to make this game less about Solas and more about... everything else that was also involved in this story.

The thing is that my step-brother has been in and out of prison for the past 15 years. He recently was released on parole just a few weeks ago after being in for three years. When he was a juvenile, he stole my mom's car as well as two of her rare (properly licensed) handguns and an heirloom diamond ring. He's done so much bad stuff to my mother that she won't even allow him in the house (who could blame her). She thinks it's him, but he's only been out for such a small amount of time I thought we'd have a few months of reprieve before he started up with his stupid crap again. And it still would make no sense that he wouldn't take her purse and gps. 

 

He and I were close when we were little and he's never done anything to me personally, so maybe that's why my car was left alone (if indeed it was him)? This is all why I can't vent on fb.

I just love those kind of character moments spread throughout this game.  He died hearing that singing and realizing that he may have been wrong all along but that he helped in the end.  Gah!  I am tearing up thinking about it!

 

Same with Clarel...when the says the warden oath right before....oh, I can't take it! 

 

I am also like in love with Harrot too!  His voice is so sweet and he so tough and resolute and down to earth.  Been through so much, and he just wanted his hammer in the end.  I love this game!!!

Very much so! He's clearly desperate to put right his past mistakes, although whether or not bringing back his people (or whatever it is he's trying to do) is the right thing to do remains to be seen.

 

Before they datamined that final scenes description I was convinced that both Flemeth and Solas had been working together throughout history to change the path of events to prevent something bad happening in the future. But now I'm wondering if perhaps it was Flemeth/Mythal that's been altering and shaping events to maybe prevent Solas/Fen'harel from completing his goals... maybe she knew that for all his good intentions his plan is a very bad idea.

 

After all, Flemeth wanted the essence of Mythal to be gifted to Morrigan all along, she knew Solas would eventually seek her out and kill her... just that tiny piece could be enough to Morrigan to continue what Flemeth was trying to prevent. Perhaps that's the revenge Mythal was seeking all along?

For Solas, I get what he wants to do -- "restore" his people, but I definitely am not going to let him if we can avoid it. Because primarily, the ancient elves were a slave-holding conquering empire and they were not fond of humans, so I don't see their ancient race returning to Thedas peacefully by any means. If they come back, no one will be able to stop. I mean, for God's sake, they figure out how to do trans-dimensional travel with magic. The rest of Thedas doesn't have a prayer. And, I mean, I guess his intentions are....good, for him at least. It's just one more nail in the coffin for him especially after we know that he gave Corypheus the Orb and was thus responsible for this entire mess. Just my own perspective and two cents on it all.

I don't know what to think about the blight yet. I mean whether it was around before Corypheus et al broke into the golden city. As for sentience ... I need more info. I'm still super confused about the talking darkspawn and the Architect from Awakenings. I thought they might address it more considering Corypheus is essentially a darkspawn in full possession of his faculties.

For facial expression, the thing I love about the Quizzie is that lop-sided smile although I gave my first Quizzie a wider mouth and that time you flirt with Cullen in Haven by telling him you'd listen to any lectures he cares to give and sort of smile sidewise ... she kind of wound up looking like Sera's character thumbnail for a bit.

 

And speaking of Sera, the reason I am not fond of her character as written has nothing to do with her nuttiness, but with her apparent inability to see her own responsibility for her followers.

When you do her first personal quest and she gets mad at you over the noble and you talk with her later, you can try to point out to her that her followers are partially in danger because she, as their leader, asked them to be there, and she gets upset with you for calling her on that. To me, she comes off like a general who refuses to see that the little counters she moves around are actually people, and when they die, she blames everyone else without taking any of the responsibility on herself. It makes her dangerous if she really doesn't realize that she's asking people to put themselves in harm's away no matter how much good she does.

 

And it makes her bother me. I'm not asking her to take total responsibility because that's not right, but I would have liked to see some acknowledgement from her that she understands she's asking people to do very dangerous things.

I'm still not sure whether I'll stop him or not.

 

I don't have enough information on what he's actually planning to make an informed decision. I mean, he may want to bring them back to prevent something bad that's going to happen in the future (I guess a little bit like the Reapers motivations). Or maybe he wants to bring them back because he's seen what became of the world after he locked them away and has decided that it was a grave mistake or one that he had no right to meddle in? Or perhaps it's even more complex since that seems to be Solas' catchphrase lol. I'm not angry at him for stupidly giving Corypheus the orb since it was a mistake, he thought Corypheus would help and Cory likely tricked him (like he did everyone else) into thinking that he would.

 

It sounds cruel, but I really like the idea of Solas turning out to be a future antagonist because he'd make such a complex and multi-layered enemy. The shades of grey and the fact that he was one of the Inquisitor's companions and potential friend/lover makes it even more fascinating. Plus, the beauty of having him as an antagonist is that he could potentially persuade you to side with him at the end and allow him to accomplish his goals, or maybe even sacrifice yourself since the Inquisitor is the anchor (ala Master Li in Jade Empire) as well has having the option to fight/stop him would make for an amazing post-game expansion! I'd love for us to encounter him for the final showdown and have him explain why he's doing what he's doing, particularly if your Inquisitor actually agrees with his goals. Of course, all this would only carry any real weight if done in DAI, not the future games.

 

... I probably shouldn't get too excited about it  though, chances are it won't happen and it'll put even more of a dampener on my DAI experience, lol.

Pretty much. I'm on board with the theory that the elves created the Black City, a permanent arcane construct within the Fade to contain the Blight.

I made a "disaster" Hawke world state and have it on hold for the day when I want to see if I can leave Hawke in the fade. I went through and left every bad person alive, did every bad thing I can think of including giving Fenris back to his former master, and rivaled Varric in it. I plan to tack it on to my GoT world state DAO play through in which the HoF is absolutely ruthless. In short, the world the Quizzie inherits ought to be as close to an absolute basket case as possible.

I didn't cry, but I was moved by the scene. Specially because the first time I saw it, Dorian had just made it to Skyhold five seconds ago, so he didn't even know who this guy was, besides an old Chantry fart he found trying to fend off Venatori, and he admired Roderick for that feat of courage. That was a nice way to break off the walls I had built against Roderick, and made me more open to undertand what he was trying to do there, the sacrifice he was willing to make, and the peace he found in at least having been useful enough to get everyone else to safety. I found something very poignant in his realization that maybe that's what the Maker had put him there for, that one chance to have the answer no one else could have given at that moment.

 

But I love redemption through sacrifice stories like that. Clarel's final moment had me almost in tears too. Despite everything she was and everything she did, in that one moment when she decided that her life was the sacrifice needed to save everyone else's, she finally made something worthy of herself, and it was enough.

 

And, of course, it's why my designated Warden in the Abyss quest makes me collapse in a puddle of feels and tears and pride and crippling pain.

That's an interesting theory. Personally, I've been staring at those murals he paints in Skyhold trying to figure out what they're depicting, but I don't have enough info to puzzle it out. Where's my "Ask Solas about his art" option? lol

In case you haven't read it, go up the ladder in Solas's room and read the note on the scaffolding. It explains the paintings, which depict the Inquisitor's journey. Each new panel goes up when you finish a new major plot point. As to the larger meaning... if there is one, I'd also love to know.
