Oh I chose that option right in front of him too and Wynne...I still miss her and it sucks they killed her off in Asunder. She was quite the tease I mean she commented on how Alistair was focused on my Warden's hips and made him all bashful and flustered. Leliana, Wynne, and Alistair were my favorite team in DA:O. I need to play it again...but it would be so hard without a voiced Protagonist.

Did you ever have both of them along at the end of Return to Ostagar? He starts flirting with her and she tells him to be careful, it wouldn't be the first time she woke up with a younger man in her bed. :P

She would've likely been who I chose, I suspect she wasn't because the writers wanted us to have a tough choice to make/discover.

Did we not already have enough tough choices in that game?! Alistair and Hawke...Templars or Mages...Cullen's lyrium...sure DA:O has some killer choices, but DA:I freaked me out around every turn with the outcome of my choices. I would nearly start sweating until I found out everything went well.

Oh, I did... once I hit the Abyss quest and had to pick between Alistair or Hawke (I sacrificed Hawke... I couldn't ever do that to Alistair, I'm too emotionally attached to him and my Warden).

I love my Hawke and Anders romance...but my Warden and Alistair romance will always top that.

Cullen romancers: I have a question.

I never understood his appeal until well into this game. I'm playing a Keeper's First who started off prejudiced against him for being a human Templar who dedicated his life to imprisoning mages and supporting the Chantry that outlawed the elven religion. However, as my character got to know him, he really grew on her. By Skyhold, after I (the player) learned that he's the only adviser who successfully saves Clan Lavellan from being attacked, my character started to consider him a friend since he saved her people. By the Wicked Grace game and the Chess game, she really started to consider him a dear friend; and I imagine their bond sealed after she helped him with his lyrium addiction.

However, she wouldn't dream of flirting by that point since she was already committed to Solas. While I love Solas for her for this playthrough, now I'm seriously tempted to make another Keeper's First who slowly falls for Cullen; but I don't want her to start flirting with Cullen right off the bat. Like my current character, I want him to slowly grow on her as her prejudices against Templars are proven wrong.

So, my question is: How late is too late to start flirting? I've heard some romances are harder than others; like, you have to pick every flirt option from the very beginning and keep at it for them to reciprocate. (*cough*Solas*cough*) Since Cullen is pretty tight-laced, I imagine it's like that for him. While my character will be polite at first and friendly later, I don't want her to start flirting until after they get to Skyhold; preferably after the "rescue Clan Lavellan" war table mission.

Is that too late to start flirting and keep the romance going?

I believe Cullen is one of the romances you can start at any time in the game once you arrive at Skyhold, and you can trigger his first kiss scene at any time (it isn't tied to any specific point in any of his cutscenes as the story progresses).  The flirt during the chess scene isn't overt, either, you just say you should spend more time together and he agrees (and there's a little sexual tension underneath their formality).  I think once you flirt with him during the chess scene or after--you can ask if he's taken-- is when you can initiate their first kiss scene.

I'm not an expert on his romance and haven't finished it yet, but this is what I've picked up so far.

I cannot never NOT flirt with him (lol!), but I have heard someone say they romanced Blackwall all through till the end (of that romance), broke it off with him, and then got Cullen.  BUT, I am not sure if they had been flirting with him some as well...so...not sure...

Have you had the chess scene yet?

I never ever managed to pop that conversation with Leliana about Alistair's performance in the sack, LOL!

WHAT?! Oh you HAVE NOT LIVED! Lola you really need to go back and play for that convo...or just google it, lol. If you have Zevran in the party when you and Leli start commenting on Alistair's performance then Zevran jumps in and starts offering "tips". It is like a 2 minute banter!

Did you ever have both of them along at the end of Return to Ostagar? He starts flirting with her and she tells him to be careful, it wouldn't be the first time she woke up with a younger man in her bed. :P

Yes...I heard that banter too...it was rather awkward because Alistair just gave a rose to my Warden too...so...

Zevran, Wynne, and Oghren is quite the party too when it comes to those kind of convos.

Summary for that scene:
Wynne tease Alistair
Alistair tried to fight back
Alistair failed

It's funny how Zevran always wins when it comes to flirt and tease except when facing hardened Leliana...

The Cullen and Josephine romances work differently than the companions. To get into a relationship with them you typically have to take ever flirt option you get when compared to companions which work through approval. If the tarot card has changed with the character you have been flirting with the most then you are locked in with them and it is too late to get into another relationship, but if the tarot card has yet to change then you are good.

He does indeed jump right in, but it is the same as the other banter you are talking about. It basically is a combined version of the Leli and Warden teasing Alistair and then Zev jumps in with his advice about Alistair's endurance. At least I think that is how it worked out...I remember Zev saying something about arching his back and then Leliana giggled.

Is it bad that it's been so long since I've played DAO that I can't remember who I typically used as the 4th in my parties? I know I always had Alistair and Wynne along, but I can't remember if it was Zev or Leli who filled the last spot. I know I didn't use Morrigan or Oghren much because I wasn't fond of either of them.

I love the one where Alistair finally build up courage ask Zevran to give him a tattoo, Zevran was like: great, but I need to bath you and massage you first. Alistair just went back to: uh...never mind...

O_O...Your version of DA:O must have a lot of problems or you are just royally unlucky! I mean it sounds like you got all glitched out in DA:I and now we know that you didn't get that epic dialogue in DA:O. I think you might need someone to see if you got a curse on you because it seems like you can't catch a break, lol!

I felt so bad for Leli when Oghren asked what she was hiding under her robes...and Oghren was very interested in Alistair's and the Warden's sex life as well. I swear that guy did not catch a break in that game...he has a voodoo doll for a Feastday gift that you could give to Morrigan.

I wonder if the Wiki has it under their banter section...eh either way it was a time I will never forget.

AHHH that's the problem...you must be out in the field for everyone to chime in.

I kind of wish Cullen was apart of the In Hushed Whispers Quest. Would've been interesting to see what the time did to him.

I wish we could've seen what happened to all the companions and advisors, I was really interested in finding out what became of everyone.

Thank you for the input.

Ooh, the chess scene. Polite, formal, and subtle, but effective? That sounds perfect, actually. I'll keep that in mind. =)

Thank you. I have seen the chess scene, though I won't be able to put it to good use till I make a different character (who hasn't flirted with anyone else) in a different playthrough.

The Cullen and Josephine romances work differently than the companions. Uh oh. Does that include Haven? I've talked to him in Haven a couple of times in this playthrough, saw the flirt option, but ignored it because my elf was secretly thinking, "You are a Templar that imprisoned my fellow mages and supported a church that demonizes and outlaws my people's religion. Like Hell I'm interested in you!"

If I don't click any flirt options at Haven but do so by Skyhold, would that work out?

Oghren is too funny, I remember he just goes: So what did you do with her legs? Damn legs always get in the way...

Hardened Leliana was scary to flirt with though. I remember where in a banter Zevran joke about release pressure for her to a hardened Leliana, she literally reply: fine, drop your pants now, I need to see if this is worth my trouble first.
