I like Cullen's protective nature, so... I hope that Cullen has a big part in this hypothetical DLC XD.

Speaking of Calpernia I don't believe this has been the last time we have seen her. PW said during NA's podcast that if Calpernia is as popular with the fans as she is with Bioware then she will be back...O_O

Huh. Wow. Calpernia did absolutely nothing for me. I feel like I saw her for two seconds and my only impression was, "Not Samson." :/ Is she a fan fave?

 

 

Nope you cannot kiss Solas anytime you want, lol. Better to find out know rather than be disappointed and think you messed up in the game. There are certainly kisses involved in the romance...you just can't kiss him randomly though.

 

As for the hug scenes well...I guess you will have to find out on your own.

Soo... here's something that's weird in my current Solasmance PT. I used to go talk to him all the time and listen to every damn story he had to tell. Now, I never get that option. Plus, I didn't get any approval from doing things at the ball that the gg says he approves of. Do  you think that means I'm maxed out on his approval or something?? It makes me sad, since I loved to listen to his stories and was looking forward for my Solasmance.

The earliest you can (and should) activate Blackwall's romance is the first time you speak to him after reaching Skyhold. If you don't take the flirt option in this dialogue, you lock yourself out of BW's romance - even though you still have flirt options later and can continue friendly-flirting with him to the end of the game without hindering your Cullen romance, for instance, the quest that leads up to his first kiss scene never activates. That's actually the safest way to be able to flirt with him later without actually entering his romance, for the record.

Once you've flirted with Blackwall in the battlements, congratulations - you're suspended in a state of quasi-romance with him, and you'll to break it off with to pursue someone else. You can do this with as simple as a dialogue option under Special, without progressing his romance, if you activated it accidentally. Cullen will reject you if you try to approach him during this state, so you'll want to avoid conversations that would lead to flirts with him, because those will go to waste now and you'll need them later. Now is also the time to make your choice: who do you want to dance with at the ball. This will determine when you should break up with Blackwall. Since Revelations only starts after both Abyss and Wicked are completed, leaving the breakup to this point of the romance means you spend the ball with Blackwall and miss out on Cullen's dance.

If you're fine with that, proceed romancing Blackwall through his kiss/sex scene, his barn sex scene, the ball, and finally his personal quest, where you can finally break up with him. If you've been frugal on Cullen conversations so far (though it's totally fine to complete his lyrium quest meanwhile) and saved at least two flirts to activate the "let's talk about us" dialogue, you'll now be able to initiate a relationship with him.

If you want to still spend the ball with Cullen despite macking on Blackwall a bit first, you can't progress BW's relationship past his first kiss. He'll give you the option to end things before they really begin right there, and I think the way Quizzie makes him do it is a pretty optimal cue to follow up with Cullen's romance - you break up with Blackwall for not having the courage to pursue his feelings for you, and end up smooched to death by Cullen, who is brave enough to go for it despite all his reservations.

That's basically it: choose your optimal path early, then watch for your cues.

If you want to up the challenge to Nightmare mode, I can also walk you through the hellish but totally achievable Blackwall -> Sera -> Cullen romance path. It took me surprisingly less time to master than the Anders -> Isabela -> Fenris -> Sebastian route.

It's possible you maxed out on approval and he ran out of stories to tell.  I know there's a point where you ask for more stories and Solas basically says, "I have nothing else to tell... maybe I should get out more".

Thanks for this! I wish I saw this two days earlier.. my lavellan flirted with everyone so I was locked in bw romance. Then I failed solas' balcony kiss. Still not knowing what happened until the ball... I have to reload 15 hours of gameplay.

That's... odd.  Solas definitely has more than two rounds of stories.  I don't know what happened- maybe you ran into some kind of bug?  You could try asking on the Solas thread if they have any insight or suggestions on a work around for that.  I don't know what else to tell you, other than I'm sorry- that sucks

This. I can't see why they didn't just use Samson for both rolls. Calpernia made no sense to me whatsoever... like they just said "Hm, how 'bout we just make someone new up so it looks different?" If they want to have her in future content, great. Just give me a better reason for her being.

Thanks! Yeah, it is odd. I am loving the Solasmance, but the fact that it was added late is far too evident.  Bugs. Clipping. Too short. Ah well. Better than not having it at all!

Yep, the "are you with anyone" is actually good enough to cue the romance on its own, so you're good to go.

Well hello waxed and shiny cullen and g'morning cullenities. So like even if you max out with solas, it impacts dialogue options? Figured you just won't get the little approval notice anymore but that stinks. It's weird too, because I'm going in and out of dialogue options with varric. Are you referring to the ruins/memories/spirits stories that he tells in Skyhold?  If so I remember him only ever having 3? of those (each) to tell.  I burned through them so fast my first play through.  I make a point now to space them out.  Especially if I know I am going to take an approval hit later.

It's really easy to max approval with Solas.  So if you don't see them popping up on your screen I really think it's safe to say you're maxxed.

Yeah, it makes me sad that he won't tell anymore now that he's maxed. He has way more than 3, based on my last PT, so I must have been slow to get approval (it took me a while to warm up to him first round; go figure! ).

Huh. I find that curious since everyone at Skyhold seems sooooooo sad after that event. I mean, I picked Stroud, and no one even really knows him. It seemed clear to me that they coded it more for the other two big choices, Hawke or Alistair.
