I'd prefer that, or just take it to a completely different area of the DA world.

Yeah, I'm actually pretty excited to move away from the South or skip some time forward or backwards to clean up the house. I love love love the characters and stories we've had so far, I'll always love my Warden and her war buddies, my Hawke and her ragtag band of misfits, but there's only so long we can extend this narrative before everything starts to feel inconsequential and handwavy. Rather than continuing to wonder where is Nathaniel, why didn't Fenryiel feature in this quest, whatever happened to the Architect, etc, we could move away from this little self-contained universe and get a fresh start up North, or at some different point of history. But there's no need to make it a huge dramatic boom, just a natural focus shift... like Mass Effect is doing right now. Close up one overarching story arc, move away and start another. Still exploring the same world and lore, just from a different point of view.

Will do! I'm still trying to get out of work...it would help if I stopped playing around on the forums!

I will say that mine are all lore-friendly...no battle-bikinis or anything. Though I do use a gorgeous female body mod that gives a more realistic musculature and skin tone with scars and everything!

I am fine with either lore-friendly or lore-breaking; have you seen my bosmer?! He's a fox  They don't make them like that in normal Tamriel....

You've yet to use the mod that turns Skyrim into a tropical paradise then?

You jest but this sounds delightful

Bah, I don't understand people's refusal to let go of things. I do want a post-script to tie things up, but I don't need to see anything. A nice little note or codex is fine for me, but I guess maybe too many people don't bother to actually read things these days and need to have it shown to them. Just tell the devs to tie it up and leave it be. If I never see my Warden again, that's fine. If I never see Fenris, that's fine, but I want to know if he and Hawke get to find peace at the end or not, and that can be a simple note.

Tbh this scares me about ME, added to the fact that half their dev time has been replaced, so... I'm scared. But we'll see what happens. I solemnly swear to not follow the game's development as closely as I did DAI. That path leads only to regret and disappointment!

I, too, would like to explore new lands and leave old friends to rest in peace (er, not die, but you know). They already screwed with my headcanon for Hawke and Fenris. At the moment I don't care about the inquisitor, but that makes it easier to start over completely.

Yeah, there's no need for it to be all bloody and destruction just wrap up the plotlines in southern thedas and go somewhere else.

I'll follow the new ME's development for the sake of the channel, but I'm not excited for it and I'm certainly not expecting it to be fantastic. Not getting my hopes up means I won't be disappointed lol.

I'd have joined the mass protest and if nothing was done to remedy it then I wouldn't bother playing BioWare games anymore. As it is I'm not sure the new route they're taking with their games if for me, so that would certainly be the nail in the coffin.

I'd have to ask what would be the point of continuing to play a game that completely lacks continuity. Most people don't put that many hours into PCs and relationships with NPCs just to have them wiped out to make the writing simpler, sigh. I don't care about playing the same characters, but if it's going to essentially be a completely different game, even if it's just a huge time shift forward or backwards, without any of the current story being relevant, meh. It would have to sell it to me as a completely new game with no inherited "trust" that they're building on something I really liked with characters I really liked. I think I'd start looking for someone else doing really good stories, tbh.

I'm curious if they'll ever go forward in time and leave the Dragon Age altogether. Only so much crazy sh!t can happen in one age, right?

After what they did to ME3, turning a great thing into a huge flaming disaster with that ending, and then telling the fans they were wrong about it because ... ART, half the dev team deserves to be replaced, IMO. The question is whether or not they replaced them with the right kind of people.

I did wonder why Feynriel wasn't in this story, but I think, considering the ending, there's plenty of room to bring him back. I can't imagine that he was introduced for no reason.

Honestly this is the attitude I had towards DAI. After the whole ME3 mess and being very disappointed in DA2 I wasn't really expecting much so I was pleasantly surprised with what we did get. It's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but it's got me invested in the Dragon age series again so it's done it's job I suppose.

See, Feynriel is one of those threads that I think could simply be let lie. We know he's in Tevinter, and we know he's being trained. He could make a difference at some point, but he could just as easily not exist in plenty of games, too.

I think what we got on him is enough to know he's out there and learning. I'm content to know that.

Oh, I'm sure certain lore based stuff would carry over that is relevant to the story etc, but it just wouldn't include the previous characters.

As you said, people put hundreds of hours into the protagonists and characters/npcs/relationships. To have it wiped out is precisely why I'm concerned about where the Dragon Age franchise is going, but in my case I'm referring to them killing people/protagonists off needlessly for drama or because their in a state of dead-or-alive flux.

If they move the game too far forward or back, they won't be in the Dragon Age anymore, so it would make the title of the franchise a lie. I doubt they will do that. I can see them moving the game to a new region, but I would expect they will move one or another of the current characters with the story to tie them episodes together. There has to be something to make the games coherent since we don't get to keep the protagonist. It isn't impossible that BioWare breaks that mold at some point, but if they move the focus to a new region, I wouldn't expect it to be our Quizzies since they are more or less focused on Skyhold. I would expect nothing short of a major military catastrophe to bring the Inquisition into the field and out of its normal digs.

But ... there is the possibility of a qunari invasion at some point.

We've definitely been beat over the head with that foreshadowing since DAO... It's gonna happen sooner or later. Probably next game.

That, as well as beating us over the head with the Black City and the Blight. I don't know which will come first, but I can see the whole Blight and Old God business getting resolved before the end of the Dragon Age.

I was of the impression that eventually (either in the next game or subsequent games) they plan to move us away from Southern Thedas. They kinda hint at it in war table banter when Josie asks if they ever wonder what's going on in the lands that aren't covered by the Thedas map, Cullen says he doesn't and Leliana says that they have enough trouble here without worrying about what's going on elsewhere.

I could see them making a new series in the same world. Would be pretty interesting actually.
