Cullen's shining moment in DA2 (forgive me! /flees)
I was of the impression that eventually (either in the next game or subsequent games) they plan to move us away from Southern Thedas. They kinda hint at it in war table banter when Josie asks if they ever wonder what's going on in the lands that aren't covered by the Thedas map, Cullen says he doesn't and Leliana says that they have enough trouble here without worrying about what's going on elsewhere.
I wonder how they'd manage to give us English (and maybe American) accented protagonists again if we're in Tevinter or... ohhhh wait a second, Tevinter folks have English accents! Yeah, we're going to Tevinter ![]()
That, as well as beating us over the head with the Black City and the Blight. I don't know which will come first, but I can see the whole Blight and Old God business getting resolved before the end of the Dragon Age.
I totally thought the Black City thing would have got resolved in DAI... I guess it still could.
I did wonder why Feynriel wasn't in this story, but I think, considering the ending, there's plenty of room to bring him back. I can't imagine that he was introduced for no reason.
All this half elf half human stuff trips me up because A. Feynriel and B. Alistair and what why does the former look like a weird mutation and the latter look like a gorgeous prince. The world may never know.

...Did anything actually get resolved in DAI?

...I actually kind of know what most likely happened to Feyriel in my main world state, but I really don't like to think too much about that, because down that path lies regret, and down the path of regret comes temptation to change my world state, and I've promised myself I will live with the consequences of my characters' choices, no matter how f*cked up their outcomes turn out to be down the road.
But let's just say I had to change my Inquisitor's backstory a little bit to acommodate a in-universe reason for her to be so fiercely overprotective of Tranquil mages; with the out-of-universe reason being 100% related to my player's guilt towards Feynriel, if you get my drift. ![]()

The Flemeth/Morrigan/OGB thing did... and then the epilogue happened o.o
I loved ME3 right up until that stupid, bloody platform came up under my passed out Shep on the Citadel. Then the whole game took a tilt sideways and went way, way south. Nothing about the Starchild made any sense with the rest of the game, and while the expanded ending at least made the game fully playable because it was a sop to the clarity bits, it only doubled down on the lack of logic of the Starchild.
If they move the game too far forward or back, they won't be in the Dragon Age anymore, so it would make the title of the franchise a lie. I doubt they will do that. I can see them moving the game to a new region, but I would expect they will move one or another of the current characters with the story to tie them episodes together. There has to be something to make the games coherent since we don't get to keep the protagonist. It isn't impossible that BioWare breaks that mold at some point, but if they move the focus to a new region, I wouldn't expect it to be our Quizzies since they are more or less focused on Skyhold. I would expect nothing short of a major military catastrophe to bring the Inquisition into the field and out of its normal digs.
But ... there is the possibility of a qunari invasion at some point.

This reminds me of when Hawke tells Cullen he "sounds Ferelden" in DA2. I was like "but everyone in Kirkwall has the same accent? WHAT'S DIFFERENT??" ![]()

Aww... man. That sucks. ![]()

also isn't the mage/templar war pretty much over by the end? Not everyone's happy of course. But the official warring is over I think.
Oh, I'm sure certain lore based stuff would carry over that is relevant to the story etc, but it just wouldn't include the previous characters.
As you said, people put hundreds of hours into the protagonists and characters/npcs/relationships. To have it wiped out is precisely why I'm concerned about where the Dragon Age franchise is going, but in my case I'm referring to them killing people/protagonists off needlessly for drama or because their in a state of dead-or-alive flux.
If they move very far forward or back, then only a small amount of lore would be relevant, honestly, since so much of what we think we know about the past is rumor so can be chucked out to an extent. I just won't find random, unconnected games that happen to share geography and a few bits of history all that interesting or reassuring.
And yes, killing off people just for drama doesn't exactly encourage me to get attached to a game/story.
I think it's the Maker that they'll never clarify.

It actually made perfect sense to me
Keeping in mind it was not a "starchild" as fans like to call it but basically a highly advanced AI that took the form of something Shepard recognized. I loved it, personally
It was super duper sci-fi-y.
But I have a feeling this is an argument that won't be resolved so should probably cease ![]()

Depends on your ending. There's a huge potential for it to break right back out in some endings.
This reminds me of when Hawke tells Cullen he "sounds Ferelden" in DA2. I was like "but everyone in Kirkwall has the same accent? WHAT'S DIFFERENT??"
OMG I had this exact same reaction!! I initially chalked it up to me perhaps not being able to distinguish between minute differences in various British Isles accents lol
I wonder how they'd manage to give us English (and maybe American) accented protagonists again if we're in Tevinter or... ohhhh wait a second, Tevinter folks have English accents! Yeah, we're going to Tevinter
I reaaaaaaally want the option to play someone with an french, spanish, or irish accent. Although I'm pretty sure English will always be the core option.

I think we will be going back in time. I have gotten rid of most other thoughts on where we may be going or at what time...but I just feel like we are going back into the past.

hahahaha omg me too. Every single time someone automatically knew because of the accent I was like.... da fuq.....
I think it's the Maker that they'll never clarify.
Yeah I am really annoyed they're delving into the elven gods but leaving the human god all "mysterious" and potentially the only "true" god.
Smacks of real life proselytizing to me!

Yeah I sigh at the thought of what my Dalish inquisitor would sound like with his proper Welsh accent. Siiiiigh.
