I wonder if that war table mission is what became of the main wedding mission that apparently got cut?

I don't think I'd marry them anyway seeing how marriage is regarded in Thedas, Orlais especially. It doesn't seem as genuine as just running off together.

We don't know that it was ever a main wedding mission, do we? All people found, last I remember, were a few files related to a wedding in Val Royeaux.... which is what you can get through this quest chain.

It's more romantic aiding them to escape together, plus it's nice to see Cullen showing his softer romantic side with his suggestions.

It was found in the main quest files, side quests and war table quests are elsewhere.

Well, then whose marriage could it have been then?

That doesn't really say much. File structure can get all over the place during development.
I just find it hard to see where there could have been anything in the main quest involved a wedding... unless at some point they considered the possibility of marrying Gaspard and Celene, but scrapped it later on. It's the only way a wedding makes any sense in the middle of the story we got.

Who knows, likely some important Orlesians or something. They obviously scrapped it for a reason... unless one of the original options was to force Celene to marry Gaspard or something?

I'm only repeating what I was told.

And now I'm thinking of a Celene/Gaspard wedding, and imagining neither would come out of it alive.
Perhaps we should have tried that option, let them kill each other and put Schmooples on the throne of Orlais.

A true red wedding! Oh man, that would've been great!

Agh, this quest chain is such a mess. I had to make myself an index to keep track of all the ways it can go:
Spoiler
There's one specific path where Cullen can lead to the wedding scene in Val Royaeux, but you have to carefully plan around it. He can also get the lovebirds to elope instead, and even get them killed in the end.
eta: also, it's not really a big cutscene or anything, you just stand awkwardly around as the NPCs pose and pretend to get married in the middle of the streets. But yeah, this is the mysterious "wedding scene" people found references to in the game files.
Dang, thanks for writing this one up. I must say I still struggle with war table missions since I can never remember who to send for best outcomes. I thought I'd manage to keep my Dalish clan safe this pt but got them killed at the end ![]()

How is it that I managed to get Cullen to smuggle the couple out by having them dress up as Inquisition Soldiers then? Cos that's what happened in mine.

Schmooples would've been better than anyone! I'd love to have seen gaspard and celene duel. She's a rogue I think? At least Briala teaches her a thing or two

Just to jump in here, the best option for the war table missions is usually the shortest timed one. I've been working on that basis, as everything has worked out pretty well ![]()

It's Schmooples 2 right?
Bet that she'll be a good Ambassador this cute lol' thing.
Celene's a rogue if I'm not mistaken, with a magic ring... She was trained as a Bard when she was younger.

When it comes to the Cullen romance, I will say the whole “Smexy Time” was disappointing. It started off good then it went south.
Cullen tossing crap off his desk was rather ambiguous of him, I had way too many issues with this.
This scene would be perfectly fine if Cullen ran around in normal attire, but being in full heavy armor just makes this scene awkward.
For starters a man lying on top of a woman in full heavy armor, well, I can hear the female Inquisitor’s ribs crunching. Then you have the female Inquisitor spending more time trying to figure out how the hell to get Cullen’s armor off, or for that matter where to even start.
The next scene was, just ugh. I for one wonder how the hell they went from being downstairs to upstairs. You don’t see Cassandra and the male Inquisitor in a small grove then in the next scene on top of a mountain.
Then the female Inquisitor is sitting on the edge of the bed in those ghastly beige pajamas with Cullen nude behind her. This is NOT intimate nor sexy. The fact the Inquisitor is fully dressed throws the whole scene off. Bioware tries to pull the intimacy back in by having romantic dialogue, but it does not work, the damage is already done.
So what should have been done?
Simple.
Cullen and the Inquisitor are laying on the floor next to the desk sleeping. The Inquisitor wakes up to Cullen’s thrashing. The dialogue plays out, (which should have been a bit more). They kiss. Cullen nods The Inquisitor, stands up and walks off screen to get dressed for the day. Cullen falls back on the floor and sighs with a smile on his face.
I can forgo the whole heavy armor Cullen laying and possibly crushing the Inquisitor but everything else is not only silly but poorly thought out.
Sure, give the other romances intimate sexy time, but for Cullen, have his girl sit on the bed in those ugly ass pajamas. Ugh!

Love that Cullen would encourage this. He'd get hitched by the waterfalls in the forbidden oasis. Little life threatening, lots of beautiful...

I did my first playthrough that way but what if you have more time saving agents for one than another? Is the clear choice of advisor muddled by that?

See, my Sheps are always bamf solders or infiltrators, so Kaidan always comes across as too judgy and well, whiny, for lack of a better term. They don't have time for his games. After the crap he pulled on Horizon they were done. They will forever and always be Garrus-Gurls. My favorite is a renegade Shep/Garrus. I can see how folks think Kaidan and Cullen are very similar, but to me they are very different. I think if my Shep ever ended up in DA-land, she'd be attracted to Cullen (or at least the man Cullen has become) as well.
My Bioware "crushes" are as follows:
1 - Cullen
2 - Garrus (very close behind Cullen)
3 - Alistair (very close behind Garrus)
4 - Malavai Quinn
5 - Lord Scourge (if only they actually finished his romance...sigh)
Heh, my main Shep is totally bamf and renegade through and through and I cannot imagine her with anybody else but Kaidan. Love the dynamic between his sweet paragon's ass and my raging lunatic hero of the galaxy. Also by renegading Kaidan in ME1 you can have some sweet lines from him (team milky way ftw) and because I am a sucker for fun flirt lines, nothing beats her bipolar behaviour before the almost kiss scene. The only thing I am not keen on is Kaidan's "cheated" line in me3
It is so OOC to me but I never had to endure it since I cannot break his romance once I started. I need to Virmire him for the feels and keep Ash instead. I actually don't mind Horizon that much, since my first Shep was Sole Survivor and abhorred the idea of working with Cerberus (after completing all the side quests in ME1 and having an encounter with Toombs). For this reason I really struggled to like ME2 plot. But I came to love the cast so that solved it. When it comes to romances it is usually not my personal preference but characters' dynamic that dictates the final choice. I am sometimes surprised by that so much
For the record I love Garrus as well, I am just super attached to my Shep-Kai pairing cause it was my very first ME experience and I love this game to bits.
Edit:
I have to do this:
I am out of likes again but this

If I'd had made that scene, I would've had the Inquisitor go to Cullen out of work hours to discover him still working hard at his desk (thus having a good reason for him to be in casual attire), that way when he does knock the stuff off the desk and initiate sexytime it's not gonna look stupid/painful seeing him climb on top of her.
As for them waking up in bed, I don't think it needs any explanation on screen, they stayed together over night so they either retired to bed after the desk scene to sleep or went a few more rounds in comfort, lol. However, Cullen's nightmare scene would've been more poignant if they had both been sleeping naked in each others arms when Cullen starts stirring, which wakes up the Inquisitor who then sits up or moves slightly to check if he's alright, the scene plays out like usual, except instead of her walking off to go back to work, as she goes to get up he cheekily pulls her back down on top of him for a few more minutes together before they have to return to their duties.
