Was Briala genuinely trying to help Celene when Gaspard was sending soldiers in to cause trouble? Or does the Inquisitor just make that up to get them back together and frame Gaspard?

 

Truth be told, I can't even tell who's trying to sabotage who, or if it's all of them backstabbing each other.

I think it's fair to say that

they were all backstabbing each other in The Game.  Though, I haven't read any of the Dragon Age books, so I felt like I was at a disadvantage because I knew very little about these characters and their motivations besides what was revealed in the game.  I feel like it was one of the times where it was necessary to look at outside media to get the full picture.

I wondered that too. I lean more towards the IQ making it up so she could get them back together and off Gaspard. Yet it is clear that Briala is not over Celene...so I think she may have been trying to help her even if she didn't realize that she was. Kind of like a subconscious thing.

I got the impression that Briala was just trying to help herself and her own cause.  That it could be twisted by the Inquisitor to show she was helping Celene was only a side benefit to work to her own advantage.

That's the impression I got, but I wasn't sure if maybe I'd missed something that suggested that Briala was trying to help. I reckon Briala will use Celene to her own ends and then backstab her... and rightly so tbh!

Well, if they still actually have feelings for each other (and it isn't a facade), then I'm sure Briala wouldn't want Celene to be assassinated at the very least.  But I still think that first and foremost, Briala was working for her own goals.  Celene was another matter.

Briala was playing both sides, having killed ambassadors for both Celene and Gaspard and forged their documents. At least this is what my IQ deduced and told them. Celene had reduced the guard and explicitly allowed Gaspard to sneak men into the castle for his coup, setting him up for a fall. And, Gaspard was, you know, planning a coup. So they were all in the wrong. It was kinda cool getting to point that out to them.

Yeah, I was wondering how understandable all that would be to someone who hadn't read the book. It felt like they were simplifying all the relationships in the game.

Can anyone give me suggestions of whether I should romance Bull or Blackwall after my Solasmance? I can't decide... and from what I was reading in here earlier about the whole BDSM thing Bull's romance seems pretty.... intense.... is there more to it than just the sexual aspect?

Regarding the last painting of Solas, I always interpreted it as being the Inquisitor's foot -since he is always shown wearing heavy armor in the Tarot Cards and the metal boots have the same style as the metal gauntlets -, his sword planted firmly on the ground because he just finished his mission (defeat Cory and recover the orb) and the Dread Wolf bowing to him in gratitude after he recovered his orb, his Foci.

Having played Bull's romance I'd say it's the most tame as it's pretty much left up the players imagination what exactly the Quizzy and Bull get up too. Sure it's implied it's a bit on the kinky side but other than that let your mind wonder. Though getting's Cole's banter with Bull and the Quizzy is gold. Cole is so innocent and Bull, he really doesn't want to be having the conversation!

As for your questions:  I think that the first kiss is what starts the Cullen romance.  You aren't in a relationship with him (besides the flirting) until that point, so I'm *guessing* there's no dance scene.

 

And I romanced Solas first!  I decided to try Cullen after Solas and now I'm totally into it .  I like both Cullen and Solas equally now.

You do have to start the romance to get the dance scene. So kiss him!
