I agree! I just know that some readers don't appreciate content that makes the story so long. FF.net...is not a good place for testing out the waters, lol.

Honestly 5000 words is not a lot. Not for, say, a 20-chapter fic. And, again, it's not the length but the quality of your content that will turn readers away. Plus, you know... you should never write for the readers. Write for yourself
Write a story you enjoy, and other people will enjoy it, too. I posted my original fic with those loooong chapters
on fictionpress.net (sister site to fanfiction.net) and have 74 reviews and 156 faves, and this is from people randomly finding the fic using tags (so it's not like I had a ready fanbase). Which is not to brag "Oh ho ho my writing is so fancy and brings all the readers to my yard" but just to say that my long chapters never hurt me.
