Me too. I love my Dalish mage, but the d****d blush is way too heavy on her. But I haven't been able to recreate the face (I've tried three times, 
) so I'm just playing her with the too-heavy makeup. It isn't the first time I've just gone with a result I otherwise loved, like my Warden Tishina who apparently liked purple. A lot.

Since Lola and Tish are around: weeeeeeelllll... I've finished the Abyss quest on that playthrough where I was testing what a Warden Alistair would say about a romanced and sacrificed Warden. Cause there was that whole rumor that when you sacrificed him he would say it was not the Maker's side he hoped he'd go, but his love's side, and everything. But I guess that was just someone's headcanon.
Nah. He says nothing. Not a word. Not a teeny tiny itty bitty mention in passing. A sacrificed Warden may as well have never existed, for all that her sacrifice seems to have meant to him.

Yeah, but it really paints a picture when you think about how it's actually something he wondered about (if you do the Before the Dawn quest line). What if he didn't finally stand up to Meredith? Makes ya really wonder.
To be honest, when I first heard that Cullen was returning in this game I was very happy. But I also had a sneaking suspicion that he would be a baddie (ya know, cuz Bioware). Thank goodness my fears were unfounded!

There is a fanfiction that I can't think of the name of now in progress on AO3 that actually has him as a spy for the Red Templars. It's really good! I need to go hunt down the name...
I know this conversation is past, but FWIW, I was involved in a pretty extensive convo on a forum on ff.n once upon a time on this very question purely in the context of DA fanfic writers and readers. Chapter lengths varied from 1000-2000 words to 10,000 words, with the most "typical" being around the 4000-5000 mark. So go with what fits your story and transitions you well to the next chapter, since every reader will have their own preferences that you can't predict. Myself, I went through a phase early on where I invariably hit 3800 words on my first draft of a chapter; now they typically vary between 3500-5000.
For another random rule of thumb I once read on switching POVs, I guess some canonical wisdom suggests you just make sure you spend at least 1000 words in the new POV before switching away again. Not sure how much I subscribe to this, so ymmv. I almost always switch POVs and I like it as a storytelling device.
And now ya'll know why I won't try to write romance or smut, I'm too used to writing for conciseness . I was afraid I was placing that estimate too low last night, I'm glad you and the others spoke up.
Oh, yeah the picture is hot the same way that certain bad guys can be hot.
But let's be honest, if Cullen hadn't stood up to Meredith, Hawke would have had to kill him (most likely), and he wouldn't be the Cullen we all know. 
So we can stop calling the figment Cullen. How about Collen? Part of what makes him so adorable is that he IS able to stand up for himself and stay true to his own personal moral compass despite how wrong everything and everyone around him goes.
Boy, I'd sure like to read some fanfic involving Varric and Cullen slowly getting to know each other and the dwarf managing to make the Commander laugh more and become more relaxed...

Well, crud. He mentioned her with a lot of emotion in an US playthrough in DA2, it's too bad they gloss over it this time. I'd already decided against using my canon PT of Ozera and used the PT where she lived for Zhenya's worldstate. So no US in my DAI worlds.

You can subscribe to stories on AO3 if you are signed up for it, which means they should alert you when they update.

Now I'm trying to remember my first play through because I did have an US Warden who romanced Ali, but he was the king on his own in that game. I remember Cullen talking about Cybele, but I don't think King Alistair makes any mention of her anywhere. In all fairness though, I don't think there is any opportunity, but I think I had the best chance since my Alistair in that world wasn't even hardened.

Yeah, when I heard that line the fan came up with about going to her side, I thought it was such a good line that it made me consider changing my world state for a while, just for the poetic justice of it - she died in a tragic sacrifice, he died in another tragic sacrifice, but at least their souls will be reunited again. It was such fitting closure to their ill-fated love. Sigh, it's unbelievable that one fan can do something so beautiful with this world state with one single line, but the game can't even be bothered to acknowlege it.
Well... if nothing else, at least I'm confident in not changing my main canon now. My sacrificed Warden is still not acknowleged anywhere, and king Alistair doesn't even appear for me other than in letters, but at least I have leeway to headcanon that the Warden still means something to him even after all this time. I like the thought that he made peace with her death and settled into his marriage eventually (it has been ten years, after all), but with the fake-Calling haunting him, she's been back on his my mind more often than usual lately... it's a comfort that his king cameo being so barebones can afford.
Still so mad at this though, lol. Deleting this character after I tell Fiona about her son's death for science, then going back to my main IQ to cheer myself up with a proper Culleny woo-break.
