There are videos on YouTube of Cullen going back on lyrium-yes romance versions are there. I am sure those who chose to tell Cullen to take lyrium again had their own reasons.
I for one cannot and will not ever tell Cullen, “Take the lyrium.”
Cullen really wants to break all ties to The Templar Order. The easiest part was leaving the hardest part is trying to break the “leash.”He has been struggling the past few months while not taking lyrium-headaches, worse nightmares, loss of sleep, mood swings. Despite all the withdrawal effects Cullen is doing rather well compared to other Templars who suddenly stopped taken it.
Remember the man in the cell in DAO? He was pretty freaking loopy. Alistair said, “He was going through lyrium withdrawal.”
Cullen wants to stop taking lyrium. Telling Cullen to take it again makes him feel (and shows) he has been defeated.
It may seem like you don’t want Cullen to suffer, but remember, he has been suffering the withdrawal effects long before he and The Inquisitor become romantically involved.
The path Cullen has walked for months has been hard, but he has been doing it. Now Cullen has The Inquisitor in his life and he is hoping she will walk the path with him. Cullen will stumble, when he does, your Inquisitor, should help back on his feet, hold his hand and tell him to keep going. Turning back will do nothing but foster defeat and resentment on Cullen’s behalf.
Cullen did not given in when he was tortured, nor did he give into Meredith’s madness. If he managed to resist all that crap then there is no reason for your Inquisitor to give him a defeat now.
Relationships will always test you, real or imaginary. Depending on your choice it can either make the relationship stronger or break it entirely.
Part of the reason Cullen falls in love with the Inquisitor is her strength and endurance to keep going. Thus it in turn gives Cullen inspiration to do the same when it comes to lyrium.
The Inquisitor should be Cullen’s rock, not his sponge.
