Oh I don't mind if you spoil it
I have still played plenty of games that were spoiled for me, the ME series was spoiled for me and I still enjoyed.
Although, let me guess...Master Li was the one who killed your parents?
Spoiler
Ok, so here's the plot in it's most basic form (it's actually all very complex really):
Master Li is for all intents and purposes your father because he's nurtured you since you were a tiny baby. You're also his favourite student. Eventually the village and school is attacked and Master Li is taken hostage, all the students except you and one other (you life long friend) survive. You make it your mission to rescue Master Li, as you progress you pick up your rag tag bunch of companions etc, then eventually you make it to Master Li, turns out the King had him captured. You rescue your Master only for him to turn on you and kill you. You end up in JE's version of the Fade where the spirit of the water dragon tells you that Master Li killed not just your parents, but your entire clan who were keepers that once protected the water dragon (a spirit/god that keeps balance in the world). Master Li is infact the Kings Brother and had put plans in motion to take over the throne ever since the day he "rescued" you as a tiny baby, you were always a pawn in his grand plan.
Anyway blah blah blah, you come back to life and eventually get to the final battle with Master Li. As you make your way through the castle you find the body of the water dragon still half alive, the King (and now Master Li) had been slowly draining her of her life force for years to bring prosperity etc to the Jade Empire (prior to that it had fallen upon famine and hard times etc). So you get to Master Li and you get 3 endings. If you were for the most part "good" (way of the open palm) you defeat Master Li, stop draining the water Dragon and all is well, if you were mostly "bad" (way of the closed fist) you defeat Master Li, continue to drain the water dragon and become ruler yourself, or you have a third option (if you agree with his motives/plans) you accept Master Li's offer to sacrifice yourself and in doing so become worshipped as a god in your death, which allows Master Li to continue ruling and things generally look ominous and dark, lol.
So I'm thinking/hoping that any expansion with Solas will have a similar choice of options: fight him and win, fight him and lose, agree with his plans and sacrifice yourself for the greater good, or for those who romanced him maybe both the Inquisitor and Solas sacrifice themselves for the greater good.
