Oh I don't mind if you spoil it :) I have still played plenty of games that were spoiled for me, the ME series was spoiled for me and I still enjoyed.

Although, let me guess...Master Li was the one who killed your parents?

Whew!!! That's mind blowing...

Spoiler

You know, that's pretty typical of Kung Fu stories. Here are the archetypes that my father listed:
1. Hero get orphaned at a very young age. Parents killed by Enemy.
2. Hero got saved & raised by a legendary Kung Fu Master who raised Hero as his/her son/daughter & taught Hero Kung Fu.
(3. Optional: Kung Fu Master has a girl, and Hero fall in love with this girl & this is forbidden love since they are supposed to be "sibling".)
4. Enemy killed Kung Fu Master, and before dying Kung Fu Master transferred his/her "power" to Hero.
5. Hero swore to kill Enemy.
6. Hero track enemy with some friends, or probably with Kung Fu Master's girl
7. Friends got killed, Kung Fu Master's girl got kidnapped
8. Hero, after an epic battle of  martial arts & shouting at each other for 20 minutes (seriously), will defeat Enemy
9. Enemy, before dying, will reveal a secret connection between him/her to hero. Like that he/she is actually the uncle/aunt/father's best friend or things like that.

All these, just add flying & ability to throw laser from hand & you've made a Classical Kung Fu story. And oh, they spend more times talking & shouting at each other in battles, instead of really doing the kicking & hitting stuffs.

Source: my father. He watches & read ridiculous amounts of these kind of stuffs.

Not quite like that, but very close!

That's the backbone of most Kung Fu stories that my father used to read to me when I was a kid, or the movies that we used to see, you know, old Kung Fu movies from the 50s & 60s that he finally get the rare copy of DVD...

It's still one of the most classical "story approach" for many Chinese martial art stories apparently. Well, except newer ones since this stereotype is quite old already. Fortunately the 4 big Classical Chinese Litteratures doesn't have story like this...

Fortunately I'd been paying attention for once, so when Morrigan offered the dark ritual it was a no brainer for me to take it. I knew that other Grey Warden said he'd happily take the killing blow, but I didn't wanna risk it in case something went wrong... which it did, LOL!

Morrigan was my first romance in DA:O, so I did not know what Alistair did if he was romanced and did not participate in the Dark Ritual...long story short I was done with that game for quite awhile!

See, I don't mind everything going to sh*t at the end with companions, the LI, or the protagonist dying so long as it can be avoided if you make an effort to do everything properly, upgrade stuff etc.

In the past I've actually enjoyed discovering that I've horrendously ballsed up a playthrough and gotten my favourite characters killed etc because I get to experience the pain of losing them with no prior experience, then the relief of learning that it can be avoided and then replaying it and successfully saving everyone etc, which feels all the more sweeter. However, what I don't like is forced deaths and things that can't be avoided unless you change your long standing canon. *Side eyes ME3 and the Abyss quest*

Yeah I used to be like that until I thought I did everything "right" and ended up losing Mordin in ME3. That pretty much felt like a forced death to me, even though Mordin can live if you basically screw over the Krogan race.

Yeah... The first time I tried to make Ultimate SAcrifice, I had the error to bring romanced Alistair to the Fort Drakon. Well, you guys know the rest. It was against my wish.

I wonder how Leliana felt, watching her lover dies in front of her. I wonder how Alistair felt, if his lover left her to defend Denerim Gate & go sacrifice herself.

Weirdly, I love how my PC can die. But not my companions (weird right?). I can stand Ultimate Sacrifice if it's MY warden who died, not Alistair, not Loghain. I can give easily Hawke to sacrifice at Abyss, but never Alistair and not even STroud. I mean, Stroud's a random person who was generated as gap filler in DA2...

At first playing DA:O I wanted the golden ending (hence Dark Ritual, Alistair King, QUeen Cousland). But finally... it's the darker side of the story who is more attractive tbh.

Imagine a city elf, seen as the lowest possible, or a mage, seen as cursed, raise to the rank of Warden, then ultimately sacrifice him/herself to save the very people who scorn at them... Well, it's not a good story unless the hero dies.

Lol, I reloaded that whole "bad ending" PT once I simmered down and started all the way back at the beginning...which was rather challenging on Nightmare. I had everything planned the first time, my Warden was going to sacrifice herself and Alistair would rule as King*hardened of course*. However, Alistair just had to throw himself quite literally in the way of that plan coming to fruition.

Well that was depressing. Just finished Wicked Hearts with Raven and because she didn't have any romance flags active, she was visited by Josie at the end of the ball. Josie was like "What's wrong? Can I get you anything? A drink perhaps?" Oh if only I could have said "Yes, get me drunk plz."  :P

Now, off to get Perseverance and finally activate Cullen's romance!

The only way to prevent this is to left him at Denerim Gates. Which I can't succesfully done without lowering the difficulty to Casual (and even then...) because no proper tank... Sten's no tank, neither do Oghren. The first time I get to do this properly is because of Ser Gilmore companion mod. He's a tank.

On your mentionned PT, you romanced Alistair...? Oh my. THe feel...

Yeah my Cousland was a warrior and she first started out as a tank, but then I made her into a Duelist...in other words she was able to fight with the two best swords in DA:O. So I could usually handle fights in DA:O, but that last fight took so long on Nightmare.

Those feels hurt me so bad, lol! I think time slowed down and I was like. "WHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" If I had an option I would have had my Warden throw sword at the Archdemon's throat so she would kill that beast before Alistair reached it!

So, Cullen's writer was asked on Twitter how long Cullen had wanted to kiss the Inquisitor for (since he says in game that it was longer than he should admit). Her reply was as follows:

@bbattye: "I've seen a few ideas for this so I don't want to say and have mine be the only right answer. Maybe each Inquis is different :). Though it probably happens after you've talked to him at some point... you know, if you don't ignore him for the first half :D"

Sooooo, i'm guessing (if flirted with whilst in Haven) he was either having sexy thoughts about the Inquisitor whilst being stationed in Haven (after exhausting all the flirts there), OR after that first convo on arrival at Skyhold when you pick the big flirt option and both of them get all flustered. Personally I like the idea of Cullen lusting after her in Haven, just cos he's so stoic and professional the entire time that it's kinda hot knowing that he was trying to keep himself in check, especially after locking that side of himself behind his defenses for so many years.

Not gonna lie though, I wish he had gone into more detail about how long he'd wanted her, I would've loved to hear him to wax lyrical for a little longer after the sex scene when he says "I've never felt anything like this", maybe gone into more detail about how he longs for her whenever she goes off traveling, and how long he'd been harbouring feelings for her prior to getting together etc. I'll give Anders that, for all his faults when he told Hawke he'd been aching for her/him for years it was certainly hot!

C'mon Cullen, massage our Inquisitor's ego a little more would ya!

Missed you guys! Caught up in a DAO playthrough so needed a dose of Cullen love! Forgot what he really looks like even after modding my game and having my warden kissy face him in a corner! his voice just makes me puddle, and all that cute stuttering!

On this DLC those developers notes are super interesting but

See, usually I adore a tragic ending! I love how badly things go for Romeo and Juliet, Heathcliff and Cathy etc... but when it comes to BioWare games I'm completely the opposite. I think it's because I've created the protagonist and physically bonded with the characters and love interest and played through the story myself. I just can't bear to kill them off, even though I recognise that a tragic story is often more impactful. I don't mind when some of the companions die, it even adds to the story like Mordin in ME3 even though it was sad, but when it comes to the love interest being separated from my protagonist I just can't stand it. They either die together in a blaze of glory, or not at all. Preferably not at all where possible.

I like her response because in my head its the first time they meet at the temple of sacred ashes. I knew I was gonna romance him before the game came out, but when they look at eachother after their quick dialogue and they're walking away from eachother and quizzy lingeringly looks back...just perfect anticipation!
