Yeah my Cousland was a warrior and she first started out as a tank, but then I made her into a Duelist...in other words she was able to fight with the two best swords in DA:O. So I could usually handle fights in DA:O, but that last fight took so long on Nightmare.

Those feels hurt me so bad, lol! I think time slowed down and I was like. "WHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" If I had an option I would have had my Warden throw sword at the Archdemon's throat so she would kill that beast before Alistair reached it!

I cried the first time this happen. Literally. It was... heartbreaking. Truly. DA:O is a masterpiece of Bioware on the matter of fans tears.

When I know I'll cry once again if ever they kill Cullen (or the Inquisitor & Cullen get all broke), I'll still want a "proper & epic" ending for my Inquisitor. And when I mean ending, it's ending... literal one.

So, Cullen's writer was asked on Twitter how long Cullen had wanted to kiss the Inquisitor for (since he says in game that it was longer than he should admit). Her reply was as follows:

@bbattye: "I've seen a few ideas for this so I don't want to say and have mine be the only right answer. Maybe each Inquis is different :). Though it probably happens after you've talked to him at some point... you know, if you don't ignore him for the first half :D"

Sooooo, i'm guessing (if flirted with whilst in Haven) he was either having sexy thoughts about the Inquisitor whilst being stationed in Haven (after exhausting all the flirts there), OR after that first convo on arrival at Skyhold when you pick the big flirt option and both of them get all flustered. Personally I like the idea of Cullen lusting after her in Haven, just cos he's so stoic and professional the entire time that it's kinda hot knowing that he was trying to keep himself in check, especially after locking that side of himself behind his defenses for so many years.

Not gonna lie though, I wish he had gone into more detail about how long he'd wanted her, I would've loved to hear him to wax lyrical for a little longer after the sex scene when he says "I've never felt anything like this", maybe gone into more detail about how he longs for her whenever she goes off traveling, and how long he'd been harbouring feelings for her prior to getting together etc. I'll give Anders that, for all his faults when he told Hawke he'd been aching for her/him for years it was certainly hot!

C'mon Cullen, massage our Inquisitor's ego a little more would ya!

Ooh how do you headcannon your version then? I headcannon it all started in Haven...

That's nice, at least it's not misunderstanding anymore

That picture is really heartwarming, I don't know how much emotion can be put into their eyes.

I like her response because in my head its the first time they meet at the temple of sacred ashes. I knew I was gonna romance him before the game came out, but when they look at eachother after their quick dialogue and they're walking away from eachother and quizzy lingeringly looks back...just perfect anticipation!

I don't really have a head canon for when he wanted to kiss her, but since he says during their date (if you're a mage) that he finds it hard to believe that he wouldn't have noticed her had they met sooner, I would presume in all cases (regardless of class) that he considered her to be attractive from the get go (art apprecation 'n' all that!) So, while I don't think he was like "pwoar, 10/10 would bang" during the temple of sacred ashes cos he was balls deep in demons and concerntrating on staying alive, I do think he noticed that she was attractive, just as you would the first time you speak to anyone that's asthetically pleasing, lol. He's spent years locking his feelings away, so I reckon it wasn't until the Inquisitor flirted with him a few times that he let himself start wondering "is she genuinely flirting or am I getting the wrong idea?" "Does she actually find me attractive for real?" "Should I flirt back?" "I wonder what it would be like to kiss her?" Etc. Then of course he probably sternly told himself off for thinking such things, then second guessed himself again as to whether or not he was misreading the signals, then eventually resided himself to admiring her from afar because that's what Cullen does, he over thinks things and suffers in silence, LOL!

Soooooo yeah, probably started developing feelings in Haven that manifested to something more serious when they reached Skyhold after she almost died. I reckon that's when it really hit home for him that his feelings for her were beyond just a harmless crush.

Ooh you just summary what I imagined on my Lady Mage Trevelyan

The mutual attraction started early in Haven. But the true feeling only developed after he nearly "lose" her in Haven's attack.

For my Dalish mage I imagine that she's much more difficult (for her feelings too), more clashes due to her view of mages are different than his, her being Dalish and all. They started to warm up after arriving at Skyhold. But only really ready to bond after Perseverance. Well, she was not sure of herself either, being First of her Clan means preserving the "Old Way". Being with a human is not exactly that... And Cullen just feel her initial aloofness & choose to respect it

Headcannon, headcannon. Too bad they didn't put it in game...

I don't mind a tragic ending option where you can sacrifice yourself or a LI, as long as it can reasonably be avoided in some way. If the only way to avoid it is to sacrifice a lot of other people, then it's really not a choice most of the time. But if you just screwed up and that's the only way to fix it, sure. Branching endings, though, complicate further games (Alistair for instance :P ).

Aren't we already in a situation with so many branchings that the only way to solve it is to skip the next 58 years & arrive at 9:99 Dragons?

Here we go, Cullen's writer's personal head canon for her Inquisitor:

@bbattye: "Ok, if it's *my* canon inquis with him... he *realizes* it sometime after finding her in the snow. But other canon Inquisitor's will have different personalities and pacing, so every canon one can be different! :)"

That's why I like to imagine that him spacing out at the war table in Haven was him daydreaming. Josie says "You were saying something...Cullen?" and he's like "Huh? Oh right." I know anybody can potentially get this banter, but I can still head canon!

My first PT of DAO, i had NO IDEA what the game was about.  It was the first video game I ever played.  When Alistair dumped me, I was so hurt!  Then, when Morrigan approached for the dark ritual, I tried to convince him to do it...i was a very cunning rogue.  But then he looks at me and says the line that always haunts me..."Is this really what you want me to do...are you sure?"...I just couldn't do it.  So I bit the bullet. And died.  Uggg!  Damn you Bioware!!

Trying to play through to become Queen felt wrong to me...like I was forcing him to do something we both knew was wrong.  Even when i set the whole damned game up for it, I couldn't do it. Letting him die for me was the pits (never again!).  So my canon is we did the ritual so we could both live, he became the sole ruler, and he broke my heart and I took off to be an adventurer.

While I like happy endings, I think this is why I love my Warden more than my Quizzie.  Cause she took some major hurts in her game.  She said goodbye to the man she loved because she wanted him to be a good man, not a cheater or saddled with a wife he would regret (either me or Anora).  My quizzie gets to live happily ever after with Cullen, so I feel like...like I don't have the tender feelings for her that I had for my Warden. I feel like I needed more angst in DAI.  If I could stop flirting with Cullen, I might be able to get that with Solas.  But Cullen keeps smiling at me and rubbing his neck and shuffling his feet and screwing it all up!!!! Damn it!

My DA:O canon was to keep Alistair as a Warden so that he and my Amell Warden could stay together (I didn't wanna be a noble or a queen, or a mistress), plus at the time he was so sure that he didn't want to be King. I didn't feel like I had the right to make life altering decisions for him like that, and I don't harden him because I just find it kinda cruel changing a person for not being a tough bad ass. I also prefer how he talks about the Warden if they're not married... kinda felt like I was forcing him into wedlock the one time I rolled a Cousland Queen playthrough (i'm not keen on the idea of marriage myself either, and my Warden is supposed to be me).

Of course that WAS my canon until the bloody Abyss quest happened in DAI. Now Alistair is King, I'm a noble Cousland Queen, and I'm still bloody sulking about it. I hate having my canon forcibly shat all over. I suppose the silver lining is Cullen can't pine after my Amell for effin years anymore now she doesn't exist! XD

I kind of like to think he realizes in the chantry when it hits him that you're going out to face Corypheus and don't expect to come back. And he suddenly realizes how much he'll miss you. (actually, now that I'm thinking of it, I should have written a friendship version of that for Zima and Cullen :P )

That hilarious because DAI actually made me change my canon to making them both wardens.  Cause there is a chance that they may be togethah forevah!

But seriously, I love the thought of them trying to get rid of the taint and working as a team and planning for their future. So good!

Plus...I personally disliked Hawke.  Zero-Punctuation nailed how I felt about Hawke in his DA2 review, so getting to kill him/her was actually fun for me. (sorry...I can't help it!!)  I still generally liked DA2 as a fun game...i just disliked the protaganist, so....spider food baby! B)

I always figured that until they were all safely in their tents with the Inquisitor back with the group he hadn't had time to process the events that unfolded beyond survival. I imagine him standing guard that evening unable to sleep as his mind goes over everything that unfolded, which is when it really hits him that she almost died, he then keeps replaying and thinking about it over and over during the pilgrimage to Skyhold, the more he thinks about it the more he just wants to scoop her up in his arms and lay kisses all over her.

I like to headcanon that during the first convo in Skyhold with the big awkward flirt, when you see him sorta move forward and half reach out to her as she's about to walk off, he very nearly pulled her into his arms, but stops himself, instead fumbling out that line about her almost dying lol.

See, I specifically spent years trying to find a Hawke I liked because I wasn't keen on the game initally. Eventually I created a sarcastic male mage Hawke that romanced Anders. it took me ages to perfect his appearance but eventually I got it right and I ended up adoring him. It was that Hawke that helped me grow to really enjoy DA2. Of course it's just typical that when I finally nailed it I have to sacrifice him or Alistair (I sacrificed Hawke, couldn't do it to Alistair). You can imagine my horror and utter nerd rage... it wasn't pleasant!
