And this is what Meredith does afterward. Now she understands how things works. Well... let's put this into practice... :P

*she secretly wants to thank Cullen & Hawke*

*snip*

EDIT: I love to imagine there is the hate/love dynamique between Meredith & Orsino, the forbidden lover kind

You know, from the number of templar/mage relationships we've found out about through the DA series (which have to be a small percentage of what really happened), then yes...

Well, not all Templars are as bottled as Cullen, Duty First, Mages Are My Charges I Shouldn't etc...

Let's see, how many mages/templars couples we have already?

Confirmed Couple

- Ellendra - Mattin (Hinterlands, DA:I)

- Rhys - Evangeline (Asunder)

Feelings only (not acted)

- Cullen/Surana or Cullen/Amell

- Carver/Merrill

Who else?

Sorry for interrupting but apparently Cullen smells like elderflower and oakmoss, according to the alchemist in DAMP... I have no idea what those smell like

Wow...

Elderflower: Flower of elderberry, often used as ingredients of beverages. Apparently quite fragrant & has a hint of summer.

Elderflower-detail-pd.jpg

Oakmoss: Aroma: Earthy-rich notes of moss, with slight undertones of wood and pine with excellent tenacity. Reminiscent of a walk in an old forest

:P I remember reading that one, but back before I was on this thread and never registered it was yours. Well written! And if Meredith enjoyed the book (since she'd obviously read the entire thing), then just as well Cullen convinced her it had nothing to do with him, poor boy.

LOL Thanks! Indeed, I love the notion of Meredith being a closet smut fan. <3

I'm sure this is just the selection effect due to the fact that the only people either of these groups really know are other templars and mages. It's like high school. Even if it's forbidden. Which probably just serves to make it more likely. :)

It's decided. All companions in this play through are gonna end up wearing as much Dawnstone as possible as soon as my Inquisitor can get to it. Dagna has convinced me the Pinkquisition is the way to go! :D I also wanna figure out how to make the Sad Weapon........

For the sad weapon you need sad splinters. You get them from breaking down the doors of the 3 keeps.

Omg... if this were true, in a weird way their demises would have been kind of romantic. Both destroyed by the thing they feared most...

Alistair and Warden. I know he never became a templar, but he was brought up with those ideals. Assuming you romanced him.

Yeah, plus Cullen x Inquisitor (mage). SInce mage does have thousands of alternative dialogue... I kinda imagine BW knows that a good portion of Cullenmancer will go with mage... just for the principle.

You need the requisition, which can be found in one of giant mounds of halla poop in the Exalted Plains, and three sad splinters, which you loot from the broken doors of the three keeps you can conquer (Crestwood, Western Approach, Emprise du Lion).

Blackwall is wielding the Sad Weapon along with the Wedge of Destiny shield for the rest of my game, in penance for being a poopiehead. I have forgiven, but not forgotten. ;) The best part is that, even though they're super low level, his Champion passives are so OP that he's still invincible in combat, even wielding a banana and a wheel of cheese. :P

Elderflower Cordial, or a taste of Cullen taken from BBC Good Food.

Ingredients:

  • 2½ kg white sugar, either granulated or caster
  • 2 unwaxed lemons
  • 20 fresh elderflower heads, stalks trimmed
  • 85g citric acid (from chemists)

Method:

  1. Put the sugar and 1.5 litres/2¾ pints water into the largest saucepan you have. Gently heat, without boiling, until the sugar has dissolved. Give it a stir every now and again. Pare the zest from the lemons using a potato peeler, then slice the lemons into rounds.
  2. Once the sugar has dissolved, bring the pan of syrup to the boil, then turn off the heat. Fill a washing up bowl with cold water. Give the flowers a gentle swish around to loosen any dirt or bugs. Lift flowers out, gently shake and transfer to the syrup along with the lemons, zest and citric acid, then stir well. Cover the pan and leave to infuse for 24 hrs.
  3. Line a colander with a clean tea towel, then sit it over a large bowl or pan. Ladle in the syrup – let it drip slowly through. Discard the bits left in the towel. Use a funnel and a ladle to fill sterilised bottles (run glass bottles through the dishwasher, or wash well with soapy water. Rinse, then leave to dry in a low oven). The cordial is ready to drink straight away and will keep in the fridge for up to 6 weeks. Or freeze it in plastic containers or ice cube trays and defrost as needed.

Oakmoss cologne...

Or this:

Knight-Captain Cullen: Gentleness cloaked in clean, sharp, regretful duty. Cypress, cajeput, neroli and sweet orange on a base of myrrh.

Oh I bet that would smell very nice...earthy and like springtime...

To my knowledge, oakmoss is a pretty common scent in modern masculine fragrances. I collect vintage perfumes as a hobby...  :D

*edit for ToP* All this talk about manly man-smell!

Huh, you know. Interesting. Now I realize why I was surprised at Cassandra's scenes about Swords and Shields. The DA2 banter introducing it goes like this...

Aveline: All right, tell me. How does it end?
Varric: Beg your pardon?
Aveline: That guard story of yours. The... the one with a guardsman who falls in love with a templar knight-captain.
Varric: Oh, the romance! Swords and Shields. I just started that serial. It's got ten chapters to go.
Aveline: Yes, but you know how it ends! Just tell me.
Varric: I've got an idea, but the story... the story will go where it wants to go. The characters drive it, not me.
Aveline: You're the author! That makes no sense at all!
Varric: A good story, you don't really write. It was always there. You just uncover it.

The DAI scene has Cassandra worried about the female knight-captain and what happens to "her." We'd always figured that the guardsman and templar knight-captain could've been based on Aveline & Cullen. But if the knight-captain is a girl, then either Aveline is the guardsman and in a lesbian relationship with the knight-captain, or Aveline is the knight-captain somehow and a templar instead of a guard. Curious why the person the cover is Aveline now.

She surely looks like Aveline. That's Aveline's Guardsmen armour, not Templar Armour

Spoiler

IIRC, the guardsmen is Donnen Brekovich (or whatever he is called) might be a pun from Donnic. So maybe Varric change a bit the role to not pointing the finger too directly to Aveline?

He's putting Guardsmen Donnen (Donnic) fall in love with Knight Captain (Aveline). and maybe he change Cullen's position of Knight Captain elsewhere?
