He's so heart tuggingly vulnerable in that scene, how could anyone say no to that face!

If looks could kill. I felt like a horrible person.

*sigh* I know. I also almost felt like... like he felt that he *should* go off and do something else after the war. But doesn't know what that something would be. Just knows that that something would be with her. Then, feels silly that that sounds a little... clingy, when they haven't even discussed it yet. LOL I could see that turning into the "should I move in my toothbrush?" conversation. You know, Important Relationship Talk #19.
Which is why the ending with both of them being all "idk what comes next" particularly annoyed me. Like if they had made it "idk what comes next, but I look forward to finding out with you" or something it would have been fine. But the way it was done was just really annoying to me. It was like that previous talk hadn't happened or something
See, to me they already had the "commitment" talk, so there's no need to re-afirm that in the final scene. You already have additional dialogue with Cullen where you can ask him what his plans are and he says something along the lines of "It doesn't matter, as long as we're together."
"I don't know what comes next" means that they don't know what comes next with the Inquisition/World State. That they intend to be together for it is already fact.
My likes are gone again, but agree! It must be a scary thing for him to be completely free to choose what he will do. Even after all these months (?) of being "free." The Inquisition likely filled that void with some certainty of purpose. But, now the world's their oyster. Now what?! I could see that being unsettling that he doesn't know what comes next and she's there to reassure him.
"I don't know what happens next" goes right back to his romance scene where he says he finds himself wondering what will happen when all this is over, except this time he says it in a more content relaxed manner because he knows that no matter what he has her and that's the one certain and stable thing in his life.
I did it a couple of times for science.

OMG evil! I have to triple check my mouse is hovering over the stay in relationship answer and then I am still sweating in case it jumps at the last minute, because I could never do that to Cullen.

Especially if you do the "let's be friends" thing. I just watched it on youtube and I still wanted to die seeing his reaction ><
Exactly what I was thinking... the flow just felt off.
I'm guessing that is what they were going for, it just didn't translate well for me. Also it felt like what they were doing in that scene didn't line up quite right. For example he says he doesn't know what comes next and she... walks away. It's just weird to me. It probably didn't help that I had headcannoned that is was still very much nighttime when they left the party, and things happened... and then hey it's dawn and that sort of convo happened. It was just rather off
I wouldn't call it walking away, it was more leading him towards the balcony... if you watch how she does it, it's very purposeful, almost teasingly. It's the build up to an epic sex scene that we don't get to see, LOL!

Exactly. So I think it perfectly bookends the other scene.
I liked it. I knew it wasn't in reference to the relationship because he'd already told her that whatever happens after Corypheus he doesn't want to be without her and then reiterated it again during the prayer scene where he's close to tears at the thought of losing her.
Basically "I don't know what comes next" "neither do I" was in regards to what the world will be like after all these big changes, where the Inquisition will go from here, whether it'll become a permanent thing or disband once things calm down etc. The hugging scene as they look out across the skyline is there to represent that whatever the future may hold they'll face it together.
... And I swear, if BioWare forcibly kills either of them off or separates them I'll actually launch a rebellion!
HA, you said it better so I'll just add this:

I took it to mean that but it just seemed so randomly plopped into that scene it really didn't flow with what he had just said. If they had added I don't know a little something before and maybe added a 'but at least we'll face it together', at the end, it might have made more sense.

Agreed, it was cleverly done because he's literally come full circle.
I wouldn't call it walking away, it was more leading him towards the balcony... if you watch how she does it, it's very purposeful, almost teasingly. It's the build up to an epic sex scene that we don't get to see, LOL!
Yeah, I saw it more forward looking and symbolic, that they were both going to face the future together. Plus, he was awfully smiley. ![]()
(and i'm sure with awesome shagging right after, too!
)

I guess it's down to a matter of interpretation and taste really. I found it to be clever, lol.

For sure. BioWare love their symbolism and chances to say things without words etc... saves on the word budget too! ![]()

I can confirm that it was night time when the party scene took place - flycam. ![]()
I believe they DID do "everything" as Cullen so eloquently put it. Then it jumps to the next morning and they have the "I don't know what comes next" conversation. She's not walking away like "talk to the hand like I just don't care!" She's walking away to go out onto the balcony and holds his hand to the last indicating that he should follow her.
I think that whole scene has great flow...
DLC content?
If they wanna open one up with a sex scene then I'm more than happy to pay for it!

So you think the dawn balcony scene is after they've post-party shagged?
DLC content?
I'd buy it...
It is not. In fact, I believe it is vital to the scientific method that we see such an image immediately.
Pants are, as always, optional.
Yesh yesh. All for the good of science!

So you think the dawn balcony scene is after they've post-party shagged?
Who's to say they didn't post-party shag all night??? ![]()
I did it a couple of times for science.

Oh man, it's so harsh! Still, at least we couldn't do it after shagging him... my gawd, could you imagine his reaction then!
Who's to say they didn't post-party shag all night???

He mentions this when you arrive at Skyhold, when you ask him about Cory.
Thank you!
*raises hand in the air, relieved*
Who's to say they didn't post-party shag all night???
I reckon the shagged after, cos they're both fully dressed... who gets dressed straight after sex at that time of the morning? I'd have at least wanted to see him topless on that balcony!
