Hah yeeeah that one actually weirds me out. I get that it's supposed to be funny, but since I realized this is exactly the kind of thing the Envy would do in the Inquisitor's place, and Cullen would enable this behaviour and even find humor in it (until he realized it's not so funny anymore), the joke started falling a bit flat for me.

 

Plus my IQ is a noble through and through and really loves playing these silly nobility games, so the scene where she exposes Florianne was top aces most 100% in character moment in the game for her, and the mind games at the war table with Florianne later were icing on the cake.

It's almost like you can see what's going through his head. Like a mixture of a flashback to Haven, that moment when he finds her in the snow, and his rapidly developing feelings for her that he knows he probably shouldn't be harbouring.

Speaking of which, I always wonder why he stops mid sentence during that scene. The IQ has the option to say something like "is there a problem?" Or "what's wrong?" Something like that (third option), does taking that option lead to him explaining why he stopped and stared at the Inquisitor? Lol.

Yes, I enjoyed the romance but was frustrated with the lack of closure. He just hurts Lavellan so much, right after leaving her so vulnerable...

I actually prefer not to kill her but somehow ends up doing it every single time just to see Cullen goes "Please don't make me do this!...you are gonna make me do this aren't you..."

He does it with all race/gender Inquisitor's right? Maybe it was a guilt flashback to all those lost at Haven or something.

So my game bugged out.  I had my Lavellan kiss Solas in the Fade (no self control) and then agree just to be friends after she woke up (presumably ending his romance).  He then pursued her after his personal quest (wtf, Solas?) and me, still not having any self control, kissed him again.  She went to talk to him and he goes back to calling her "Lethallan"/"My friend", so his romance flag didn't set.  Basically friends with benefits with Solas apparently, my Lavellan went to talk to Cassandra (who she also flirted with shamelessly), and she gave her the talk that she noticed the flirting but she was sorry she couldn't return the feelings because she wasn't into women.

 

Great, now I'll feel weird going for Cullen's romance after all of that, which I was saving for after his personal quest.

My personal interpretation is that, the IQ slips that hint about him almost subsconsciously and catches herself in time to save the sentence, but not in time for him to miss it, right? So he blurts out that "as am I" in an almost confessional tone, but immediately catches himself and backs up, all "no no no don't do that don't go there," the way he does. And it's such an abrupt change in tone that the IQ catches on and realizes she accidentally cornered him into an awkward position - her face sort of falls and she decides to walk away before she makes this any more embarrassing for both of them. And then, watching her walk away is what prompts him to blurt out the rest of what's rushing through his mind, again in that impulsive way he does.

 

I like that this scene is mostly spoken through body language and subtext between them. It's one of the most effective flirts in the romance, imo.

Blackwall is just getting more and more awesome, at this rate I might actually romance him with a qunari so Cullen can't hijack it.

I love where he ask Solas if he had been "more than friends" with spirits, and ends up with Solas call him "ass". They are both so adorable in that scene.

The body language is so great in that scene. Again, I'm gonna say that Cullen's animator did such an amazing job on him, particularly because there are a lot of internal struggles to portray.

Are you far into the game yet? You can pace yourself out for a bit, clear out some maps to get some sense of time passing by, then go back and start Cullen's personal quest for that feeling of slowly growing closer but not quite there yet. You can spin it out as your IQ having felt a little lost and gone through a series of false starts, then taking some time to be by herself and appreciate her own company, then finally slowly growing closer to Cullen as they go through his issues together until she starts to have feelings for him - surprising feelings, a growing familiarity between them that comes out of the left field, something she wasn't expecting to find in her war advisor as much as much he wasn't expecting to find in his Inquisitor.

 

With enough roleplaying, anything can be salvaged into a Cullen happy ending.

Awww, thank you! I don't have the sliders for her but I think I could easily recreate her and post the sliders up in an imgur album. 

 

She's as close to a "self-insert" as I could get in-game. Sadly the brows aren't right. There are no fabu glam-brows in the stock CC. I also don't have as many freckles, but I like that skin texture the most for a 30-ish IQ.

Yes I love how awkward they both are in that scene. I took his sad face as his guilt for almost letting her die in Haven when it's his job as Commander to make sure as many people make it out as possible; she was responsible for her own survival no thanks to him. (Also he realizes at this point he has some feelings for her as well so double guilt). And I agree that she walks away (awkwardly) because she doesn't want to embarrass herself or him anymore.
